This subject has me ready to throw in my lure towel and go back to using livebait.
One of my greatest fish catching topwater baits has been the BPS topnocker and they discontinued it. The nerve of them?
Culprit has discontinued some of the worms and i been buying what i can find. No one makes these colors anymore. Why change what works????
Bomber is discontinuing some of there crankbait colors in the fat A 05 size. These cranks have been a very hot bait for me too. I think its the smaller size of the rattle balls that has that unique sound. The fire craw color has been a real awesome producer for me too.
Mister Twister is discontinuing the timber doodle in size "00". This is another hot bait to drop into the weed pockets. Its a weedless bait too. It uses the 2" split double tail trailer which i also use on my smaller 1/8 oz spinnerbaits as a trailer. But we had a competition one day with the 00 timber doodle against live minnows and i won with the timber doodle. This is an awesome weedless lure and overlooked by many i'm sure.
Mann's Hank Parker Classic spinnerbait size 1/8 oz. this has been an awesome spinnerbait. I just change the skirt color to the blue hue and add a mister twister trailer and the bass inhale it anywhere i use it.
I feel like i'm being left out in the cold, i been buying and using these lures for many years now. BigBill
Bill -
I know what you mean. went to pick up some Culprit Bluegill colored worms the other day and I can't find them anywhere. I contacted Culprit via e-mail and the gal that replied said that they take custom orders, but you have to order 144 bags at $4.19 a piece. I don't know about you, but my wife would kill me if I spent $600.00 on worms only.
Berkly power noodles were my favorite for many years, no longer made. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I think it's a matter of mental approach. It's a fact of life that products, colors, models, etc., will disappear. As far as I'm concerned, there are very few things that can't be replaced.
Now if Jitterbugs were discontinued I'd be seriously unhappy because that's my favorite lure and there's nothing like it that I'm aware of. But crankbaits, spinnerbaits, plastics brands, colors and the like have come and gone and I've had no problem with something else.
There are loads of lures that are productive and we should try not to let the loss of one affect our fishing.
i dont think the jitterbug is disappearing anytime soone
Lesson learned...if you're wearing the fish out on a certain bait...stock up on 'em! ;D
I really liked old Berkley power lizards; the ones with the flat belly. I don't know why they stopped making them.
BPS brought back the Mann's Jelly Worm and I stocked up on them. Also got some Bagley's Small Fry crankbaits from E Bay that have been gone for quite a while I believe. I'm all about looking for stuff that isn't that common or has been discontinued. But Why some of these lures get discontinued is a mystery.

If the worm is that important to you, buy all you can. There is one particular bait I would buy 50 of if the manufacturer would do another run.

I think it's safe to assume that lures are discontinued for the normal business reasons, i.e., the product is not yielding an adequate return on investment. It might be a great lure, but if it doesn't sell, there's no good business reason to continue.
Basically it's the same principle as when your supermarket discontinues some food that you really liked. They determined that they can make more profit from that shelf space by stocking something else there.
I just spent over $200 this month stocking up on my favorite lures. I hope to get more stuff next month. My tackle room looks bigger than most mom/pop tackle shops now. When stuff goes on clearance or discontinued i will buy up what i can too now. If its caught fish in the past i will buy more.
But the mister twister timber doodle size "00" is one hot little bait.
I miss Rapala's Risto Rap and Fat Rap, but especially the Risto Rap. Caught a lot of bass on that bait.
Zoom Finesse worm in Pumpkin Blue
If ANYONE has this color, I will buy it from them.
it says that pumpkin blue is a special distibutor color and not discontinued so id email them to see if you can get some or who distributes them
Yeah, already tried it. LOL
They referred me to some Zoom guru lady, I forget her name. She basically said, "No."
;D
I am looking for Junior D's.

Pumpkin blue or Green Pumpkin blue? If the latter, call Tommy and tell him to search PC for 004239.

Nah, it's the Pumpkin Blue, color 011.
They have it listed on the Zoom site as a special distribution color. I found three packs on flea bay a couple months ago but further searching has been fruitless.
Can someone set me staight on this:
Bomber Square A - Is this discontinued or about to be discontinued. What's the story on this? I inconsistently see them at various Wal-Marts but they don't seem to be on the Bomber website, which I can't understand.
I have chrome one from about 8 years ago that is my fav go-to shallow crank. It's chrome with blue and black wavy lines on top. I have since retired that one from duty because it is so beat up. I definitely think that pattern is long gone, but can anyone tell me about the Square A?
Thanks
The "Spittin' Image" walk-the-dog type bait has been discontinued and it's one fantastic small mouth lure over deep, open water structures! I still have two, but am afraid to toss them! Instead, I've used the LC Sammy, but it still doesn't draw them like the "image" did.

Manufacturers' web sites are notorious for not being current. That said, the site makes it appear that your lures are available and can be bought directly from them.

I have two that I hardly use. Hit me up and we can work something out.
I miss the risto rap, the rattlin' fat rap, and the jointed countdown more than any other lures. Many of the colors of the super spot in the smaller size are gone too, as are some bomber colors.

If the link does not work I would try to contact Simmons Sporting Goods (toll free 1-888-657-6859) as it appears they may the special distibutor.

Hope this helps.
Side note from looking at the pic if they are out I would think some of the private guys (like ghost baits) could make this for you as it looks to me to be pumpkin seed w blue flek.
Thanks gator. I can't check flea bay while I am at work, but I will definitely check it out when I get home.
Thanks for the link and the phone number.
You're right about the color. It's a pumpkin color with both black and blue flecks in it.
Culprit used to make a 4" straight tail worm that was very good. It's bad enough I can't get these anymore, but they also had a color "chocolate mint" that caught when others didn't.
My dad and I take quite a few trips up to Canada for pike and lake trout. We found that a Rapala weedless spoon with a split tail drives the pike insane. It will outfish a silver minnow any day of the week. Luckily we scooped up 50 or so for <$3. They are atleast $8 on ebay now ;D
riverside big wag... :'(
The one discontinued product, not a lure but a line, that really gets my goat is Stren Super Braid. Final draw for me and Stren of which products I have been using for over 20 years. Won't be buying there products anymore for they discontinue stuff as fast as they put it out so what's the point of building up confidence in something that's only around a short time.
As for lure's, Charlies Worms went belly up this year so I guess you could say my favorite line of soft plastics has been discontinued.
Colors, not sure if it discontinued but it sure is hard to find Culprit style worms in blue firetail these days.

I did not know this. >
I somewhat stocked up on a few bags of my favorite color(s) , but this is a worm that has some family history so I will have to start the internet search for what is still available.
I'd like to find some more Rebel Wee R's in Ole Bass and Rapala Down Deep Rattlin Fat 5 in Shad.
Anyone????
Folks I find the old lures ,manymentioned in this post at flea markets. I saw 7 spittin images still in the pack yesterday. Most were the large sizes I think two were the smaller ones. I have 3 in my box that might be in loose hands. I saw the square a in the chrome with the blue stripes went back to get it and watched a lady pick it up for two bucks. I have a box of risto raps oin like new condition that could be bought too. Drop a PM if interested. I may still be able to get a hold of the images also.
The Spit-n-Image is still on the shelf of the Bass Pro here in s.w.florida. Its also listed on bass pro's web site but only in 2 colors. Look under saltwater baits. Its sad to hear about Charlies Worms. They held a great scent and were prestty cheap too. lad I have a stock of black 10"ers.
I'd be very surprised if anyone remembered this.
There used to be a company by the name of Toledo Tackle that had a bait called the Marsh Minnow. It was about a 3" long paddletail bait that I used to rig onto a round ball jighead and absolutely killed with them.
Then again, maybe they were a small mom and pop company as I could only get them from a long gone independent tackle store. I never saw them in any major stores.
Mister Twister soft jerkbaits. They kind of look like a slug-o, but with a more defined face. My dad gave me a pack about five years ago and I have about a dozen left.
I love the Risto Rap and dow deep fat raps!
Stanley baby titanium spinnerbaits.
Guaranteed to catch bass in any body of water.

Thanks for the lookout Rayraff. I found that site too and, unfortunately, they're not the baits. The ones I used to get were more realistically shaped and detailed, down to the raised scale pattern. Almost ahead of their time back in the 80's
The Shannon Twin Spinner. I know some of the older guys remember these spinners with the hair body. They made one with a black maribou body that flat out caught fish!
The old deep Rebel Humpy and deep Wee R in that old brown crawdad color. The new brown color just is not as good and they don't make that Humpy any longer.
