Based off ability to catch fish, don't care how long the wire lasts. Feel free to name more than one. Also what's your favorite replacement skirt? Probably have a 100 SK spinnerbaits but they dont produce so gonna sell them. Anyone elses thoughts on the SK spinnerbaits? Thanks guys!
I use to use all brands of spinnerbaits now I use those cheap $1 Walmart spinnerbaits and I catch plenty of bass and exotics on them,i got a big zip lock bag of them the skirts come loose from time to time but no big deal.Side note don't see alot of love for spinnerbaits but I use them regularly and they produce fish and have for a long time.
War eagle is the only spinnerbait I’ll throw since I first tried them 2 years ago. They flat out catch fish.
Hank Parker's HP Classic.
Terminator T1's.
My favorite spinnerbaits are frankenbaits, body from one company, blades from another, and skirt I make from tabs I buy bulk. Off the shelf, I like the Mann's Classic, Booyah hot wire, and a couple of specific SKs ( The Costa Rican ones, not the Nicaraguan ones). Matching the blades/weight to what I'm doing is important to me, I have a bunch of the Wally and Cabelas cheapies lying around that I can just mod up in a hurry when I need to, and when someone says "I can't catch them on a spinnerbait".
I like most of the spinnerbaits that I have used. I am a big fan of the 1/4 oz size with double willow. My favorite color is chartreuse sexy shad. Since Strike King kind of made that name, I like theirs the best. I look fir a good blade bearing swivel and sharp 3/0 hook that is strong. i also like gold blades too.
I use the same ones ive been using the last 15 years. Picasso and Stanley VIBRA WEDGE.
I have replaced skirts, swivels when needed, and sharpend hooks.
Northlake tackle reed runner. Good quality and good keeper for a trailer. That's a big one for me because I always use abswimbait trailer on my spinnerbaits, but never a trailer hook
I mainly fish small farm ponds / water retention ponds. For me, I do great using BooYah pond magic spinnerbaits. Small profile but fairly sturdy and good price.

I hear you. My PB was caught on a BPS Uncle Buck's spinnerbait two Novembers ago. I'm certain it was bought for about $1.50. I still have it. Most everything about it is cheap, but it has tandem hammered nickel willow leaf blades, which you don't see as much these days.
In response to the OP, my favorite is a War Eagle 3/8 oz in gold shiner pattern. It has replaced most of my other SB's.

Have a bunch of war eagles, very well made. Hand tied skirts!

Awesome, thanks for the info. Not sure how u make skirts using skirt tabs for jigs but interesting.
I'm not much of a spinnerbait guy, the only time I throw one is when the water looks like chocolate milk. So my favorite would be Fat Sack tackle's thump-em up Colorado blade spinnerbait. 1/2 ounce is about perfect most of the time with it's freakishly large Colorado blade, that thing is bigger than an Eisenhower dollar coin. Only spinnerbait that I really use anymore.

What trailer is on the Biovex and do u catch them well on the Megastrike which is the Roland Martin spinnerbait right?
What replacement skirts r u guys using?
War Eagle or MegaStrike for me.
War eagle has been my favorite for the past few years although I do plan on trying the new spinnerbaits from Dobyns this spring. They look like a quality bait.

Looks like it's a yamamoto zako. But there's a 50% chance I'm wrong
War Eagle most of the time, but I also use some Booyah, Strike King, and some a local shop sells with each blade half silver/half gold. If I need a replacement skirt, I tie it myself.
Terminator and War Eagle are the best spinnerbaits I've used.
X-factor(Jewell bait company made them for GM), Megastrike strikeback(Original and Roland Martin) I ordered some Siebert compact, looking forward to using them this season.
I happen to have a few 1$ spinner baits people gave me but yet to catch anything on them!
The fish around here would rather eat something like a senko or a frog lol
Terminator T1's the old Hart spinnerbaits.
I dont see a lot of difference in spinnerbait brands . I choose by weight , blade design and a ball bearing swivel .I have bought spinnerbaits for a quarter a piece on clearance that had ball bearing swivels .

The Trailer on both baits is a Strike King KVD Perfect Plastic Blade Minnow ~
I tie my own skirts - fairly easy deal really.
And yes I catch OK on Both baits ~
Might have more to do with where & when one fishes these baits, than the baits themselves.

Mainly termanator some pepper jigs some war eagle, this is the box I take with me if I'm going to be throwing spinnerbaits, I need more war eagle they are my favorite for now. I also have a bunch of small pond majics and those other small ones by strike king I like those to.
I use the bait below. What's cool about these is they always run true, the wire is incredibly strong and you can bend and twist it all you want and it goes back to form and the hook part is actually attached by a collar and is one of their jigs so it's like two baits in one really. Also, the part where you tie your line is a closed loop so your knot won't slide anywhere.
All my favorite brand specific spinnerbaits are no longer made or difficult to find .
Blakemore C.C. Spinner
Fleck Weed Wader
Strike King Spin Dance
Bass Buster Scorpion

@scaleface there like a lipless crankbait, different wire type and diameters give off different vibrations. And fish may prefer a different vibe on any given day. I prefer a thin wire bait, but posted this to see what else I don't have is being productive for guys. But like always the first goal is to be where the fish are.
I have as much luck with strike king as any other. It seems like for me the spinner bait bite is either on or it ain't. I go back and forth from thinking spinner baits are terrible and wonder why they exist, to loving them the next day.

Plan on in the future but not right now. I maybe able to make some to trade.

I did well last spring with a small strike king spinnerbait. Gold Colorado blade with a yellow skirt.
This year I plan to experiment with gold willow blades and white/chartreuse skirts.
For this old plastics fisherman, this is greatly expanding my horizons!

Same here^^^
Booyah has been my go-to, mostly 1/2 oz, gonna start throwing 3/8 as well this year.
Old school here as you know. I bought my first spinnerbaits back in the early 70's. Fleck was the No. 1 manufacturer of them back then. Been using them successfully ever since. Inexpensive and effective. Being as they are still produced today, makes you wonder how far off can they be, right.
My favorite is not made anymore. It was a brand called Bulldog. I believe they were around in the eighties. Now I mostly throw War Eagle.
I really don't have a favorite manufacturer. I use Strike King, Booyah, BPS, and some that are made locally. As far as the skirts go, I look for one that has a lot of material in it, and is fairly flexible.
My favorite spinnerbaits have been War Eagle's screamin eagle, Terminator t1 and in some situations the Booyah pond magic and Tiny t1 have been fantastic. Also wanted to mention that this past summer I added some Eco Pro Tungsten Rapid Fire's and they worked out great.
As for replacement skirts my main choices have been War Eagle and SK perfect skirts. I keep wanting to get some Lumaflex skirts to try but just haven't done so for some odd reason.
Just buy one of every brand and then you will know which one you like the best
Manns Hank Parker Classic spinnerbaits. White(blue glimmer skirt) or chartreuse skirt. Double Indiana gold blades. Or Colorado twin blades or one big blade. It’s all about that thump, that thump. Clear water, stained water, muddy waters it’s still the thump.
Any 1/8 oz, 3/16oz, 1/4oz dirt cheap white or chartreuse spinnerbaits.
i think my setup is the key to my success. I use the mister twister 4” split double tail grub trailer. I trim the front of the body to fit the hook. I add a trailer hook. A shot of shad scent and then I drown it.
fact you must assemble the grub trailer to the spinnerbaits so it runs vertical without turning or spinning out of control. You have to learn this. i have a supply of blue glimmer replacement skirts. When I change the chartreuse skirts I put on the hot chartreuse skirts.
dont forget to use the sight line to your advantage too. Above the sight line means you can see the spinnerbait. Below the sight line the spinnerbait is gone from your view. Sometimes the bass are finicky and won’t come up to strike the spinnerbait. You slow up the speed so the spinnerbait runs below the sight line in the basses face they can’t refuse it. I’m a shore fisherman and if it works for me it will work for anyone. Don’t let that little pea brain out think you. Stay motivated and focused.
i still have to thank Glenn for staying with me, helping me to get spinnerbaits to work for me. This was back when this site was new.
Trust me when I say this. If you're not catching anything on those SK spinnerbaits, changing to another brand isn't going to improve your success rate. Yes, I have a favorite, but if I throw it in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong retrieve speed and depth, I guarantee it won't catch anything.

True, its all about confidence. And I don't have much in the SK baits lol. Been catching them pretty good on the Santone Got 5 bait.
War Eagle and Stanley Wedge.

I have some of those hiding in my basement.

Booyah
My favorite has been the strike king red eye. I have caught a lot of fish on it, plus my PB fish.
My favorites are old Hildebrandt spinners that were made in my hometown. They are long gone but i still have a few 1/8 for crappie. Now I luse War Eagle or Stan Sloan Zorros.
The northland spinnerbaits are awesome for $3. Good colors, sharp hooks, closed wire(awesome feature) and are tough as nails. I caught over 100 bass/pike on a single one last year in chartreuse and it looks no different from the day I bought it besides half the skirt missing and no red finish on the hook. That's my .02
I even setup those 99 cent 1/8 oz spinnerbaits with a blue glimmer skirt and a mt trailer.
https://www.mistertwister.com/information/split-double-tail/335#SDT10 1
or a 1/8 oz spinnerbait with a hot chartreuse skirt and a mt trailer.
https://www.mistertwister.com/information/split-double-tail/335#SDT10 10
i trim the length of the skirt a tad. I trim the body on the mt grub so it fits the length of the hook. Even the cheap spinnerbaits work if we tweet them.
i find my skirts at brannans bass shop. The blue glimmer skirt for the white spinnerbait and the hot chartreuse skirt for the chartreuse spinnerbait.
dont forget I’m a shore fisherman I keep spinnerbaits small but with the larger skirt so it has a wider view. Bulk is the key.
Anyone still using northstar haven't heard much about them lately but I still see they have compact spinnerbaits on tw?
I really like Terminators and War Eagle.
Hands down WAR Eagle.
Old school terminators, followed closely by Pepper Custom Baits Spinnerbait and Nichols Pulsators.
I've been digging the Pepper Customs lately. Favorite replacement skirt is my own blend.

Guy I fish w in the club on lake Fork fishes these. I plan on picking some up.
3/8 bananna Head white/chartreuse flat rubber skirt blades depend on conditions
Shallow , spring , dirty water I use bright chartreuse skirts with a lot of thump . As soon as the bass get conditioned to them , in a week or two , I switch to smaller ones with willow leafs and duller colors . Summertime clear water deep , I use a heavier bait with a small blade/blades in shad color . Shallow and clear A lighter weight , willow leaf shad or bluegill color . Fall I just play it by ear . Brand , I dont give a hoot . Half the time they are homemade lures .
Night time I have been fishing the Strike King Midnight special exclusively . I need to add a chartreuse skirt to one and fish it this spring .
