what would you consider your weakest lure... Or maybe your most under used lure?
Def. Spinnerbait
mines a spinnerbait too....i only use them on two bodies of water that i fish.
yea maybe a spinnerbait a crankbait too there are times i should use it but i dont
A jig. I lose patience too quickly.
Buzzbaits, I don 't remember when I fished with one for the last time but I 'm shure it was YEARS ago.
Carolina Rigs
Crankbaits.
My strongest is by far a spinnerbait, so basically i'll throw it in a lot of areas where others might throw a crank.
Jigs & carolina rig.
QuoteCarolina Rigs
x2
Definitely the French Fry .... I just can't seem to use it ! Even on when fishing a C-Rig !
I've have a few packs though ......
As for types of lures I don't fish, or I'm weak at : that will have to be hard swimbaits.
mine is a shakey head...love power fishing
hard jerk baits
have many, rarely used them, and rarely catch anything on them
Hard Jerkbaits.
Of the stuff I carry with me it would be a spinnerbait. I only use them once in a while and have only caught the occaisional fish with them. Next is the jig, I am going to try this year in earest to use them.
Paul
Cranbaits for me! And spoons! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( OH and a Dropshot too. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Spinnerbait. Starting to throw it more and more, but still need to gain more confidence in it.
anything with a lead head and a skirt
Probobly a jig, C-rig, or a crankbait.
Rattletrap
Allen
uno mas c-rig
c-rig,jig,and rattletraps with a side of hard jerkbaits
>
Crank Baits; if I think about throwing one I'm hung up :
Poppers, just can't seem to catch fish on them, don't know why.
Carolina rig, don't have confidence in it.
Spoons. I got 'em but never use 'em. Can't remember ever catching anything on a spoon and that includes Daredevils!
Where should I start?
1. Cranks
2. Spinnerbiats
3. jigs
I am really looking to improve my skills with all of these lures this year
-searoach
For some "unknown" reason, I cannot get my banjo minnows, flying lures, rocket rod, or my light up crank to work either.
(sarcastically)
-searoach
still a Senko virgin :-[
Going to improve dropshot and spinnerbait this year.
I'd say cranks, even though I catch fish on all my lures.
Quotestill a Senko virgin :-[
I wouldnt worry about that too much. Senkos are really easy to fish and virtually impossible not to catch fish with.
Weakest is a topwater. The most under used is a spinnerbait.
Chatterbait type....i have 6 and only one has been in the water for about 30 minutes all last year.
To be honest i doubt they will see water again this year.
Spoons and spinner baits/buzz baits. It feels like you are throwing a hardware store around all day! I know they are productive, i just ain't feelin it!
Mine is the jig. They are my project this season.
Falcon
Rattletraps. The situation has to be pretty desperate before I resort to one of these. The only thing I can recall catching on a rattletrap is the back of my own head.
Buzzbait. It's been at least 12 yrs since I tied one on, maybe longer.
My biggest weakness would definatley be deep-water cranking. We just don't have the water for it up here. :-/
Jerkbaits, definitely going to use them more this year.
My weakest lure is a crankbait, every time I tie one on, I just seem to clean the bottom. Again, Im bank fishing, and the water I'm fishing is 1-2feet with the deepest parts being 4--5 foot, and that isn't common. Lets just say the areas that hold majority of the fish are the 1-2 1/2 foot areas, and thats also where all the cover is.
Although I still plan to throw the crankbait here and there until I learn it, just because there may come a lake where the crankbait is the key bait, so I feel learning it is necessary.
Very deep ice-cream cone bill cranks.
Guys, C-rigs and Drops shots are presentations not lure types.
As for me my weakest and or least used lures, Buzzbaits and poppers are
right on the top of my list. For topwater I tie one one and the next thing I know I cut it right off and tie on a Super Spook jr. Spoons/Silver Buddy's are my other not used enough lures. In hind site I missed a lot of opportunities this past late Fall by not jigging them enough.
probably a c-rig, jig, and drop shot
Crankbait.
Period.
Lipped, lipless, 'spensive, cheap, whatever, definitely a crankbait.
I'm gonna have to say a jig... i just can't produce with 'em
crankbaits , dont like em
Chatterbait... Guess they don't catch much when they don't get wet though I will let one swim this next weekend at the Big G though!
Rattletrap and jig. Haven't ever caught a bass on either.
Those are the two baits that I will be working on the most this year though.
Rattletrap-type baits. Just don't have much confidence with them, but plan on using them more this year.
C-Rig. The few times I've used the method I've caught a couple fish, but in my eyes for the type of fishing I'm used to, there are usually better options (dropshot or jig). Plus when I feel like spending the time to rig one up, I probably set the hook when I shouldn't, and don't set it when I should :
C-rig. Just don't have to use it much.
Dropshot.
I have had zero luck.
For those that mentioned jigs. You need to dedicate yourself to learning how to work a jig by pitching and flipping. Just pick a few days out on the water and bring only one or two setups for flipping & pitching jigs. You need to learn what your jig feels like, and when it doesn't have that feel, then set the hook. If you have problems flipping and or pitching, practice those presentations prior to your days on the water. Practicing by pitching & flipping from the shore into a pond or lake will allow you to learn how the jig feels as it falls through the water column. Practicing on dry land will force you to thumb the spool to a complete stop just as the jig hits the ground, so you're missing half of the learning curve.
By forcing yourself to work only jigs it will give you confidence in them, especially when you start to finally boat some quality Bass. After all, jigs tend to catch big fish.
And when your working a jig along the bottom, work it with the rod, not the reel. By doing this the jig stays on the bottom where you can detect and feel everything it comes in contact with.
Well...
Rattletraps, c-rigs, and spinnerbaits
Swimbaits.
Gotta thow 'em enough this year to get em figured out.
QuoteSwimbaits.Gotta thow 'em enough this year to get em figured out.
gotta work on those a bit too
swimbaits and c-rigs but I'm gonna make an effort in figuring them out this year
The when, how, where and what are the tough questions for me
