Xpress H2O lures....WOOOOW!!!! 2024

fishing user avatarBrian_Reeves reply :

From what I can tell, these lures are basically lucky crafts.  Their jerkbaits look like and perform like pointers, their shallow cranks rock, and their deep divers are top knotch.  And the price???  Less than 5 bucks.

I think this is the new bait, rod, and reel name that Academy is going to be using as their 'tournament choice' or whatever.  The crankbaits are amazing and the 10 ball bearing reel is only 50 bucks.  I'm completely impressed with the performance of the lures as well as the reel.  Down with BPS and Cabelas...I'm buying my cranks and reels from Academy!!!

fishing user avatar5bass reply :

I just got some in the mail today and they look like LC clones. The paint jobs are slick and they come with VMC trebles and oval split rings. I really hope they perform good 'cause I got a whole load of 'em on the way. We'll see, I'm going to throw them a little bit this coming weekend.

Sure wish I had an Academy nearby.

X2... I can find the site, but I ain't seeing no crank baits. :-/

fishing user avatar5bass reply :

Last time I looked at the Academy site, they just had pics of a few of them and no color descriptions. You really couldn't tell much. You may be able to buy them at Academy online but you'd basically be buying them blind....and hoping to get decent colors.

I have a couple of online friends that have helped me out with them. You know who you are  :P ......and thanks again!

I'll try to get some pics up here shortly of a few that I have in hand. Stay tuned.

Academy does not offer online sales!  >:P  everything goes through the stores, but the reels are pretty sweet.

fishing user avatar.dsaavedra. reply :

wow those look very nice. got any online links for em? i'd like to get some of their pointer rip offs.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

As almost everyone here knows I work for Academy so here's the 411, Academy has no on-line sales, I can not even find out who makes these lures or the old Anglers Choice lures. The reels are made in Korea if I remember right but Academy will not say who makes them. What's funny about the reels is the 10 bearing model is the cheapest priced model go figure.

During our store meeting the store manager stated that Academy plans to build 12-14 new stores a year and has plans to move into the Great lakes area. Last year Academy out sold Bass Pro Shops in total sales (excluding boat sales). Academy is the fastest growing Sports & Outdoor stores in America with plans of expanding nation wide.

i really like the lousiana shad color and the american shad color

fishing user avatar5bass reply :

The little S models dont really look that much like any LC's, maybe the CB200's a little bit. The other models are the ones that look like the LC Rick Clunn's and the CBD20's. (The 20 clones are in the first picture I posted, not this last batch)

fishing user avatarslomoe reply :

Slick lures FBL.

fishing user avatarDan: reply :

5BL, thanks a ton, I've been trying to see these lures for a while but have only found a few pics. They look pretty good.

fishing user avatarABC123 reply :

Hmmm, maybe a little Bass fishing vacation to TX is in order. :P

fishing user avatarSPAZ reply :

I don't know how the internals of the baits are but they d**n sure look  great.

fishing user avatarFishing Doug reply :

Do they make a lipless crank?  If so, how do they look?

FD

fishing user avatar.dsaavedra. reply :

are these only available at academy or something? why does everyone keep bringing up that academy doesnt do online sales? is Xpress academies house brand?

anyway those look great. i'd like to see their entire product line up.

fishing user avatarDan: reply :

yes, they are only available at Academy, and no, they do not sell online.

fishing user avatarOther. reply :

Ahh man that sucks there is no academy near me and those things look sweet for $5

fishing user avatarFishTank reply :

Same here....... No Academy near Indy yet.  Those sure are a great deal for $5.  Are they productive as other cranks, LC, Rapala, etc.?

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Who's charging $5.00? They sale for $2.99 to $3.49  :P

Yeah, thats what I was going to say  ;D  good looking cranks for $3.50

fishing user avatarcootertom reply :

The bottom right hand lure that has the sexy shad look has been producing well for me. Runs true, lots of noise and vibration. Only problem is you can seldom find it at the Academy stores. Their brand H20 but seems as they are having problems getting them or is it poor management at these stores?

fishing user avatarbowtech_182 reply :

What is the verdict on how they fish?  I only have a few cranks and plan on buying more to learn how to crank.  Is it worthwhile to spend $3.50 on these vs buying bombers or Bandits for $5.

fishing user avatarfoul hooked reply :

Gave the jerk bait and a couple of lipped cranks a go this weekend. Great baits, cranks ran true out of the box. Really nice colors on them.

fishing user avatarDoWorkSon reply :

has anyone caught bass on em yet?.....how does the finish hold up?

fishing user avatarJayDub reply :

3lber off of the CRS model.  :P  They seem pretty good to me.

fishing user avatarCJ reply :

We got the Pointer knockoffs selling around here for about $7-$8.They look the same on the outside but the ghost color gives away that there is alot of difference on the inside. The ones around here don't have the tungsten ball in them that drops down to the tail of the lure for better casting.

But if they work...they work!

fishing user avatarbrgbassmaster reply :

im liking this color the best i posted before on these and finally it caught on. heres the pic again.

fishing user avatarT-rig reply :

I got this on sale on ebay for $2.99. Sure kind of looks like one of those H2O cranks. I wonder if it was made by the same factory?
