Says who?? If you are not putting yourself in debt because of it then you should have as much as you want.....
it sounds like you do have a problem... as i can still see the corners of the desk.
You're 19, as long as your life expenses are covered buy what you want. And buying high end usually saves you in the long run, atleast thats how i justify buying high end(aka $$$) stuff

does that justify buying a mega bass white python and z2020?
i got one
Well if you just wanna give it away to try to cure yourself Ill take those worms in the chartreuse tail i see sitting in the first picture.
I bought my first bass boat (Ranger 451V with a 150 merc) when I was 16 with what little money I was making working in the fishing dept. at Cabela's. Just wait until you get the boat monkey on your back, he's a lot heavier than the bait monkey

No Kidding I am doing that now. Just started my first good paying job with my degree since I graduated college in 09 and am saving like crazy to buy a new truck and get me a bass boat finally. Luckily i got a 16 foot sylvan tub that can keep me on the water in the mean time.
From what i hear getting married cures most peoples fishing addiction..
Theres no cure,enjoy.
Tell me about it... me looking at tackle store online.

Someone lied to you! It just makes it worse because he's still there but you don't have any money to buy anything anymore!
Dude I'm 20 and I'm a gear junkie too. Here's your problem, you call yourself an addict when the word you should be using is "connoisseur"!

I'm 17 and just bought my first! I got an 1984 Correct Craft 1810 Nautique (18 ft) with a 150 HP Mercury Black Max on the back with the money i've made from working full time over the summer. As well, ive been working since i was 14 and have stock piled quite the fishing collection. I've learned that lots of hard work = ability to fish hard with the stuff i want to fish. Although the work is hard, its all worth it in the end when your holding that big bass or winning your first tournament. Im proud to say that i've fiananced myself the whole way, from boat to 7 high end combos and quality tackle, and have learned some important lessons on money and hard work as well. Who knew fishing could be a life lesson! And an enjoyable one at that!

waste of money

I have to agree. Ive got a few Revo Premiers and a few Curado E7 reels, plus some decent Powell and shimano rods. No combo over $500 total... I make up for it with the boat though! Cant justify dropping the equivalant of a college course on a fishing combo though...

i cannot justify buying a boat during college, gotta pay insurance, gas, tags

Does it matter?

Not necessarily. Spend however much you want, just make sure you enjoy using it.

JDM stuff is nice, and if you enjoy it by all means get it but for me it is too much bling. A good domestic rod that has the same level of refinement for half the cost is Zombie, check them out. The Z is too heavy, they are built like a tank but it feels like using a saltwater surf reel, most of my combos weight less that the Z does by itself and at close to 7 bills they can keep it.

I figure that i will be using it for all tourneys this summer and through college via college tournaments so its well worth the investment. Gives me an advantage over alot of guys my age who can absolutely be a great fisherman without a boat, but dont learn the boating aspect of it. And after all the tags and insurance, i figure i've got about 3k invested. Im putting alot of work into the boat and will easily get back what i put in.

Couldnt agree more. Betcha any pro could win with a zebco, just have more headaches.... Ultimatly, the fisherman casts the lure, not the rod and reel by itself.
There's a lot worse things you could be spending your money on... As far as an addiction goes, I would say you have a healthy one!

Amen to that brother!
i was randomly searching the tackle threads, to much time and gotta laugh, i know i am the new guy on here but man O man, i wouldn't pay more than 500 for a combo, let alone 1500, if i was pro and made a living bassfishing then yea i would, well if i was a pro i'd have a sponser to make my own rod, and then probablly get that for free..... very entertaining thread.. and before i was hardcore bass fishing zebco 33 platiun pulled em in for me, sounds like someone has gota coplex and needs nice stuff..

I see it more like fishing itself. Imagine it with me...blue bird skies, after a massive cold front, gin clear water, everything is stacked against you. Do you go out and power fish? ("I'm going fishing and I don't care what you say") Nope. You slow down, you apply some finesse techniques. You gotta wiggle your little worm right in front of her face. Give her what she wants, make her happy. Even if it is killing you to be patient, be patient, talk nice, lovingly. Make her feel that she's more important than anything. Just like trying to seduce a double digit big girl with lockjaw. I've found that you have to be genuine too. They can see through that fake scharade like a twenty pounder looking at a beetle spin. Happy wife, happy life. Simple.
haha good one
next time you wanna spend some money on gear, think of the antique phone you have that needs an upgrade.
19 year old addict as well.
