What are some of your favorite discontinued lures? I wish they still made these:
1. Rapala Risto Rap
2. Rapala Rattlin' Fat Rap
3. Rapala Jointed Countdown
4. Mepps Weedmaster spinner
Rapala Shallow Fat Rap
Lucky Craft Flat CB SR
Bobby Garland Hyper-Tale Hula
Zoom WEC Wobbler & Z-Flat Coffin
Berkley Frenzy "Flicker Shad"
Arbogast Mudbugs.
I was thinking about opening a tackle store that sells discontinued lures and other fishing products when I retire.
Then I remembered that retail sucks.
But it was a fun idea while it lasted.
Arbogast Jitter Sticks
Rebel Mystc Minnow
Rapala Shallow Fat Rap
Heddon Sonic
Heddon Super Sonic
I only have 2 left of the Excalibur Fat Free Fry in the Advantage series, I believe it's their shad color. It has a white belley, clear sides, black back and a reflective piece of metal on the inside. This bait is an absolute fish catching machine in clear water. If any one would like to sell....
Coppernose Bluegill Fat Free Shad, well all the old Fat Free Shad patterns.
Blue Fox Big Bass Spinnerbait
Rapala Husky Minnow
It would be nice if there was a way for manufacturers to tell us they were discontinuing something before they did. It's one of the reasons I'm such a slave to the bait monkey. You never know when your favoritr bait or color will be discontinued.
4" power worm black/blue tail
riverside big wag...
3:16 Armageddon and Wake Bait
12" handpoured lizard. only got 2 left >
Quote3:16 Armageddon and Wake Bait12" handpoured lizard. only got 2 left >
I'm pretty sure you can get hand poured 15inch water dogs(like a lizard)
or is that too big for you? ;D ;D
I like to fish with stuff that is too main stream, I mean one of my favorites Gambler 10inch june bug ribbon tail is never gonna be discontinued
I got a few left but love the autograph series from years back the k v d jerk bait and the zell Roland spook was the bomb for me in the spring
I've got some other 13" lizards too but the 12's are WAYYYY bulkier. probably weigh close to 2 ozs by themselves
Quote12" handpoured lizard. only got 2 left >
Why not make a mold and pour some more?
I think I have all the lures in the first 5 responses. ;D
My one wish is the Herb's Dilly - in the smaller size (3/8 I believe).
QuoteQuote12" handpoured lizard. only got 2 left >Why not make a mold and pour some more?
Because I am lazy. LOL
6" berkley power slugs.
Excalibur series fat free shads, the old colours were great and suspend.

This is my buddies favorite lure, he has me scouring the Earth in search of more.
Some of the lures mentioned I have seen for sale recently? Specifically the Berkley power slug 6" and the black w/blue tail 4" power worm. Looks like we all need to dig out the discountinued baits we no longer use for some trading.

TrippyJai, Texas Bass Tackle website has the Berkely Power Slugs it looks like they have been reintroduced. I've never used them tell me what you like about them?
1 lure I really miss is the bagley's small fry perch.... dang I only have 1 left and skeered to lose it......
Another topwater lure that is so funky looking but nails big bass is the Powerpack topwater lure.......
both can be bought on ebay but extra pricey...... like $10-15 for perch and around $10 for powerpack.......
My favorite spinnerbait was made by a company called Bulldog. I got it about 14 years ago. It was a single spin colorado in a strange color; gold, copper, gray color. It was a catchin machine until i lost it to a snag. never have found another even close. :'(
Gene Larew Hook Tail worm when they were poured versus injected like they are today. They were softer than Yamamoto's. Color: Tomato
1970's Bagley baits (bring back that old price, too!)
Zoom Wobblers
Original Luck E Strike Salty Sensations (chicken foots)
Strike King Timberspin.
Anyone have any they want to unload?
Strike King Grass King -The best broken cover spinnerbait for big bass ever made (or that I ever tied on LOL). I even wrote them about re-issuing it, and they replied that they had no plans of doing so anytime soon. I have 4 left.
I also have a couple Timber-Spins, but sorry CWB, I'm keepin' 'em.
1. Riverside Big Gun -Rainbow Trout color.
Just dead stick it... caught so many fish off that lure..
QuoteThe best broken cover spinnerbait
Probably a dumb question, but what is broken cover?
Any Crankbait Corp.'s Fingerlings, Dance's Craw,Heddon's Prowler & Shal-a-minr, Bomber's Speed shads and original Bomber,Normans Little Scooper,Jethro's Shotgun spinnerbaits, and some Storm jerkbait that floats at a 45* angle, with the back 2/3 below the surface (insert name here). Just a few....

Roland Martin Big Bass Special Spinnerbaits - I have 2. They rock.
I probably have all the cranks as I bought an old Umco at a flea market and it had everything still in box's. The only thing missing were the Hellbenders and Mudbugs.
I love those two old plugs for smallies.

reading these posts remind me of an old spinnerbait I used to have... It was very unique and I once ran it thru some submerged logs and snagged a 5 lb. bass... I ended up giving it to a fishing buddy when the golf bug bit a few years back...
Now that I've got back to my bassin' roots I long to find another...
Not sure of the name but it was adjustable- had 3 different setting for a straight, right, and left retrieve...
anyone remember the brand name of this spinnerbait????????? :'(
Bluefox Smartwire spinnerbaits were awesome and the rapala shallow running fat rap i wonder why they discontinued it and there seems to be a lot of demand i wonder why the dont reintroduce them.A mate had over 50 brand new ones in a box a few years ago as they are one of his confidence baits and the whole box got stolen i think it still brings tear to his eyes when he thinks about it.

i still have like 500 powerslugs. i bought them in bulk from ebay. these things are AMAZING and catches me bass yearly. they STINKK!!! and when bass eat it, then won't let it go.
try the pumpkin seed and u'll enjoy fishing it. I use a 6/0 OWNER hook for them.
QuoteProbably a dumb question, but what is broken cover?
Not a dumb question -Not a very good descriptor I guess.
It's a great spinnerbait for broken (discontinuous) slop: Surface weeds clumped and matted with open pockets. The spoon body can be skated over the matts and then the bait bulged beneath the surface slowly through the open pockets. It makes a great wake with large twin Colorado's and the spoon body wags side to side. In the right type of cover I'll simply dedicate a rod to it. It's caught a lot of big bass for me over the years.
Not so much the lure but a color; Gene Larew discontinued making a Ring Worm in black neon with a clear tail that was loaded with silver glitter, it was a killer night bait. I also have 2 Rogues that Smithwick swears they never made.
