Been looking at a lot of different types for sale (ie. Lunker Punker, Silent Runner, Zara Spook). Anyone have a favorite?
Also anyone know the weight of the 5" Injected Lunker Punker?

yep.
9" Punker....
zara spook
hard to beat for the money... and easy to work
I just used the YUM money hound for the first time yesterday and it worked surprisingly well.
I love to walk a Chug Bug. Its fairly easy to walk and it spits a little water at the same time!!

Punker, Size and style depends on the location and conditions.
I have a few that I throw...
Reaction Innovations Vixen- I believe this one has been taken out of production, I'm glad I bought this when I did. This is my favorite, has an obnoxious knocking noise that provokes a violent response from the fish
Lucky Craft Sammy- In a word smooth, cupped face also gives it a little bit of a popping sound and it's a great option for those learning this technique as it's probably the easiest one to walk
Zara Spook- this bait is a legend for a reason. Though the Super Spook & Jr. are fine baits I like the original because it doesn't rattle which is sometimes what's needed for spooky fish in clear water. Catches a lot of big fish. I don't like the hooks on Heddon's baits, so I replace them and also add split rings.
Jackall Bonnie 95- I like their Ghost color, very good bait
Luckly Craft Gunfish- Awesome bait, I can fish it like a walker or a popper and on most retrieves I often do a combination of both with frequent pauses. This is often my go to when I need to finnesse but it also works great when you need a wild retrieve, very versatile. I can also make it jump out of the water a little as well.
Zara Super Spook
I guess I'm in the minority as I can't seem to get my LC Sammy to work properly. The Spook I have no issues with though.
i like the spro top dawg
Rattlin Lunker Punker 6"...Try one .
Super Spook Jr. tied with a loop knot.

Agreed, easy to rig, fishes well. Only drawback I had was that fish did not tend to hold on long so it took a quick hookset which is also tough when they blow up on the top, rather they take it down a bit.

Sorry, this was in regards to the YUM money hound...I am new to posting, not fishing. Cheers!
Since we are under this topic...does anybody know anything about the Paycheck Baits Repo Man bait?
Its the same as the Vixen, which is proven.

Those are great recommendations!

I second that!!! I've caught a lot of fish walking those baits. I think the combination of the smaller size and the spittin' action drives them nuts. Great smallmouth lure too.
I've caught some dandy smallmouth over 35' structures on a Sammy! Done better with the Chug Bug on LM however. Can't use the small Chug Bug, only the large size. The small one just doesn't have the same balance or action, even on an UL rig.
Zara Original Spook, Super Spook, Super Spook Jr., Zara Puppy. The larger Heddon lures are probably the easiest topwaters to work....PERIOD. I don't care for how the LC Sammy sits in the water, everyone Ive seen sits almost like a floater, straight up and down
Sluggo, very easy to achieve side to side gliding.
X cal Jimmy- esy to walk and have had some vicious strikes on it.
Sounds like there are a bunch of nice ones out there. Thanks for the comments.

Been looking for a similar lure to the Vixen since they aren't being made anymore.
Thanks!
Made from the same mold.
Lucky Craft Gunfish 95
I have been using one from Norman some this year. I think it is called the Top Dollar. It sits low in the water and looks a little like a shad. Has a nice walking action also.
Vixen, in Flitter shad. don't know why, but fished side by side with Spooks, the Vixen catches two or three to one every time. I've causght many fish on the Spooks over the years, but make my sons use the Spooks now, while i fish the Vixen! I bought three of the Vixen in Flitter shad when i found out they had stopped making them. if Paycheck baits uses the tungsten knocker then i will give them a try. i've also caught many fish with the LC Sammy, and many when it was sitting still, straight up and down as described by another poster. in fact, after slashing it thru the water for a couple of seconds i always let it sit for several seconds, and that's when it gets bit more times than not. i'll fish the original Lunker Punkers too, but for Stripers, and i will let the lure out by using the trolling motor, and then walk it while slowly moving with the motor. i do the same thing with the 3:16 trout those things are too heavy to cast more than a couple of times for my old ***. but afte they stock trout those stripers are suckers for the big trout imitating topwaters! i don't care as much for the injected Punkers because they just don't walk as well as the wooden ones.
Original Zara Spook. Iv'e tried several others, but keep going back. Good price and they flat out catch fish. Big fish. The hooks they come with do suck though.
