Going to bass pro shop today, what are some things yall have been buyin at bps lately? Any good deals or good buys?
You can get the previous models of the XPS Extreme rods for like $63. Got my first Baitcasting model yesterday.
If you can get ahold of him I would talk to "The Natural"... he seemed to always find the "good deals" :-X

Check out their discounted or discontinued items for some good deals.
Look at the catalog for the items you are considering, write down the page number, and if the catalog prices are less than the store prices, have the clerk look it up and they will give you the catalog price.
Big BPS sale coming in March so I am holding out until then.
In the Richmond, Virginia area we are blessed to have Green Top, where the selection is far better than anything BPS has and Green Top is having their sale beginning this Wednesday to coincide with the Richmond Fishing Expo this weekend.
Let us know what you get at BPS.
The Memphis BPS has 1000 yard spools
of Yo-Zuri Hybrid on sale for around $5.

How many spools did you buy ?QuoteThe Memphis BPS has 1000 yard spoolsof Yo-Zuri Hybrid on sale for around $5.

I started making out my list for BPS spring classic last night. I hope the Pro Qualifier is on sale during the classic I have a couple of them on the list. Pretty nice reel for the money. Looking at the list I better start working some overtime. ;D

BPS has made some changes to their rods and reels for 2010, and last year's gear can be a great buy...if it's something that you actually need. Don't buy it just because it's on clearance. It doesn't matter how good of a deal it is, it's a waste of money if you don't have a use for it.
I've noticed several of their rods are now sporting PacBay guides, like the new CarbonLite, Extreme, and Micro Lite rods. I picked up last year's 7' ML Micro Lite spinning rod for about $28 last week, because it has the older aluminum oxide guides instead of the flimsy all metal PacBay guides like the new Micro Lite. I needed a new floating worm rod anyway, so I jumped on it.

Me too - I'm waiting for the Spring sale to get a PQ in 5.2:1 and a Carbonlite BC reel ................... then I will be done............. ;D
last time i was there i got a tungsten flippin weight, a pack of 10" anacondas, and a knife sharpener.

Dang Dave, I thought I was the only one that bought the weights one at a time. That stuff blows my budget fast.
I agree that rummaging through the discounted/discontinued stuff can yield big savings. Most of the time there is not much worth looking at, but last spring I found 5 or 6 bags of decent jig heads that I use for wacky rigging, for $1 a bag.
Hey Sam, Same place this year? The raceway complex? Do you know the times and wether or not there's an entrance fee? Thanks.

I gave up on Bass Pro....and the store in Foxboro doesn't have ANY clearance area.
I'll order on line, but I hear their shipping has gone up as well.
I am taking the hour plus ride to Cabela's in Connecticut on Friday. People say there are better deals there in the Bargain Cave....we'll see!! :
I was at a cabelas a few weeks ago and the bargain cave was a joke. All they had was a bunch of broken rods that I would not of paid 5 bucks for the whole lot. It was my first time to visit a cabelas and I was not impressed. I will admit though, they had a nice section for the reels to be displayed.
BPS Laser Eye Nitro (The Egg), I have caught some big girls with them. The last one was 6lbs 1oz fishing with Roadwarrior.
I am hoping to make it to the Bass Pro Shop in Foxboro for the Spring Fishing Classic. I went a few weeks ago and couldn't find any clearance area there as well, I'm not sure why they don't have one. Has anyone attended the fishing classic in the past and how are the deals?
OK
Was at the BPS in Foxboro last week. The clearance such that it is, is mixed in with all the other items, so you have to look THROUGHOUT the store to find any "deals". Stock was limited.
I'm going pretty soon as well....I'm stocking up on the new rage tail products....specially the eeliminator and smoking rooster. After that probably some more hooks and weights, never can have too much of that.

I just got back yesterday from the 2 hr round trip. Only picked up a pack of Smokin Roosters and Space Monkeys. Also picked up a Rapala Twitchin Rap (best subsurface walking bait) and some pre rigged c-rigs since I'm too lazy to make them myself.

The Atl. store does the same thing, but they also have a dedicated clearance area. For some odd reason, it's in an area that many anglers would never go thru. They stuck it at the end of the aisle where they keep the kids' combos, over by the saltwater tackle.
Generally, I'm not a big fan of the BPS rods. This is because they generally feel like clubs in my hands. But this year, they introduced the Microlite series. Furthermore, they are on sale not ... ~$20 off depending on the model. I bought one of the ML spinning rods and am pretty impressed with the way it feels and fishes ... I paid $80 for it in my local BPS store (retails for $100). Not a bad rod I must say.
BTW, I heard from a buddy that the new Pro Qualifier are similar (if not the same) as the new Revo's ... anyone tried or know if this is true?

Actually, the Micro Lite has been around a while and retails for less than $50. Are you talking about the Carbonlite?

Yup ... my mistake, Carbonlite! ;D
what haven't I bought haha
I picked up a Rick Clunn baitcaster as it was on a pretty awesome clearance price...so of course a rod to go with it.
Basically any techniques I've heard about I go in and get the rigs for it.
BP makes some cool clamp weights that you can add to your EWG hooks that are cool.
Well, I just got a $50.00 gift card for my birthday, and I went right to the BPS website instead of the store. The shipping sucks ($4.95 up to $25.00...$7.95 $25.00-$50.00) but I figured gas to the store would cost me that. I placed an order and they let you know if they have it or not. BIG PLUS!!! Drive to the store and then find out they don't have it, or the workers can't find it, or don't know what they are talking about. After you've seen the fish tank once, the wonder of the store is over IMO. I just want the product, and the site is the best way to do it.

I usually hold out for the Classic Event, but I could resist their sale on the new 6'6M CarbonLite rod $69 paired with '09 BPS JM Spinning reel $64. I needed a combo like this for those slow days when I'm forced to finess fish or slow it down.

When I go to a fishing resort over night, I leave my rods in the boat but I take my Tungsten weights in the cabin. ;D
