What are good buzzbaits?
I see the Booyah Buzzbait (two kinds: buzzbait and pond buzz - not sure of the difference) and Cavitron both in black or white seem to be popular.
What size is good?
I see 1/2, 3/4, and 1/4 oz.
With or without a clacker?
I see that a lot of people like the ones with clackers too and some companies have models with clackers and some do not. I noticed that a lot of companies like Cavitron does not have a clacker option.
I fish the 3/8 oz MegaStrike Cavitron
http://www.megastrike.com/#!products/vstc2=cavitron-buzzbaits
3/8 Cavitron, I prefer black but will occasionally use black also
I like War Eagle and Cavitron 3/8 in white and black.
3/8oz Cavitron
1/4 oz ghost minnow Cavitron has been killin them for me this year 26 in 2 hours night before last and 9 last night
Has anyone thrown a 1/4oz buzzbait on a baitcaster ?
Caught both LMB and SMB on a 1/4oz black / gold cavitron, most of the red is wore off the hook these days but they still bite it pretty good.
3/8 cavitron for me in these colors
Black
Ghost minnow
White
Can't go wrong with Cavitron as far as a non-clacker. As for clacker, I use Booyahs. I like to use a clackers if the water has a little chop. I think the Booyah's only come in 1/2 oz.
Black and white are the only 2 colors I use.
I bought a Cavitron when back South and used back here in SoCAL and it was ok....Better luck with Strike King white/chrome during day then Booyah black/black with clacker evening into nite fishing
I prefer a squeaker over a clacker. I like the Cavitron, Booyah Pip Squeak and SK Tour Grade, usually in 3/8.
What kinda' trailer do ya'll use for the Cavitron? I just got mine today.

What's a squeaker?
Are all Cavitron's squeakers?

It's a buzz bait that squeaks and doesn't have a clacker, when you fish one you will know it. Cavitron's are squeakers.
The Picasso double buzzbait is the real deal, check them out.
Tom
The cavitrons wires are sanded and abrasive-What happens is the two metals(from the blade and the wire)rub together at contact points along with the rivot creating a high frequency scratch or squeal.
The next series that is coming out is going to be named the Deliverance Series. Squeels like a pig-and Roland Martin is out and the new spokeman is this guy

i don't use a trailer....other than a trailer hook.
i only throw Cavitron and i use both 1/4 and 3/8. colors..white and black..
Black Cavitron 1/4oz with red blade.
I prefer black or white and in 3/8 or 1/2. I believe my first 1/2 black one was a Strike King model from Dicks, and when it was lost I was unable to find the same one. It really had a nice squeak to it. The black booyah I replaced it with was ok but wasn't fond of the black blades, silver was better.
I bought a new black one yesterday as the booyah snapped off last week. Decided to give a tri-wing a try, in 3/16, by Strike King. At first, I was disappointed right out of the package, the blades felt cheap and didn't want to turn much, by flick of finger or in water. I took a little steel wool to the shaft and remembered a little trick I have picked up along the way....hold the buzzbait out of the window while driving for a while, and it will eventually develop more squeak. I did this today and it functioned much better afterwards.
I have never seen/noticed any clacker models for sale around here.

Well, I just ordered two Cavitrons, a white one and black one in 3/8's.
White in day time and black at night?

When do you throw the 1/4 and the 3/8?
I preferred booyah with the cracker. Black and white are the only 2 colors I use
Why do people choose 3/8 over 1/4 or vice versa?
I've had good luck with the Terminator double bladed buzzbait. I bent the blades closer together so that they clack while spinning. I caught a 4.72 on it last Sunday.
Cavitron always, 1/4 and 3/8 ounce.
I've asked this in another thread with no response.
3/8oz and 1/4oz seem to be the two most popular buzzbaits.
So which one do you choose and why do you use one over the other?

1/2 oz
I like 3/8 oz and 1/2 oz. Sometimes the bass want a faster retrieve, which is why I will use the 1/2 oz. The more weight allows you to work it at a faster pace.
Yep, 1/2 oz...
I keep it simple, I grab a buzzbait and go. I think I'm probably gonna start buying 3/8 though.

Why 3/8?

It gets annoying trying to launch a 1/2 after a while. I feel like I have more control with lighter lures.

So throwing 1/2oz gets tiring because they are heavy and you have less control?
It doesn't get tiring, just gets annoying because I can't cast it as accurately as a lighter weight lure. Weight doesn't tire me out in fishing. I throw around a 200lb bike all day. Lol
Where's BlueBasser; he'll give you his insight on the 3/8 Cavitron black on black.
The man swears by 'em, even turned me onto getting one.

How has that 3/8 worked for you?
3/8 oz Cavitron
I only use the following in Black/Black Blade or White/ Gold Blade
3/8 oz Boogerman Racket Buzz,
1/2 oz Boogerman Magnum Racket Buzz
1/2 oz Lunker Lure
Croc-O-Gator makes a buzzbait called a Head Knocker that is well made and very effective. This is my favorite. I prefer black with gold blade. Cavitrons run well and have a good sound. Also, the Strike King Bleeding Elite buzzbait runs well and gets good hookups.
What's the benefit of a 1/2 oz over a 3/8 oz?

For a buzzbait, I don't think that there really are huge benefits. Maybe a 1/2 oz would have a stronger hook? But I guess that a 1/2 oz could be thrown further than a 3/8 oz.
Depends on the aggressiveness of the fish and the chop on the water-lotta chop -3/8 little chop 1/4

Dang. I think all of mine are 3/8. We've been fishing and it was all almost glass.
