This might be a dumb question, but have the price of Senkos gone up, or is it just me?
I had a friend that just called me from a BPS store and I asked him to get me a pack of 6'' Senkos. He told me they were $6.99 for a 5 pack. HUH?! What the!!!!! Was he mistaken? I thought I paid $5.99 for a 10 pack last year. Am I losing my mind, or was he just wrong?
Where can I get the least expensive deal on them do you think?
Everything went up...Including all expenses cost of living.
:-/
Just don't buy Senkos.
I have found that anything that looks like a Senko and is similar in shape catches fish just as well. Don't get caught up in the big name stuff
More durable, cheaper, and did I say cheaper. ;D Fall rate is about the same.
I'm Sold
Quoteand the owners treat you like family.
If I had family that treated me like that, I'd take them on a snipe hunt.
About $3.50 a pack this year. I've bought them cheaper, but this is the most recent purchase. Dicks puts Yamamoto on sale for 25% off a couple of times a year. I use the Dicks coaches coupon on top of that (save $5 on a $15 purchase). I bet I used 8 coupons. 3 bags of Senkos comes up $15.72 after the 25% off. Save $5 with the coaches coupon and you have 3 bags of Senkos for $10.72. I'd use 2 coupons per visit (the cashier was cool with doing two separate transactions). You can have your cake and eat it, too if you are a savvy shopper.

Now that's what I call using your head to save your wallet.
Be a cheap b*stard like me. Save your torn and beat up baits and glue them back together. A bottle of good soft plastic super glue will pay for itself in no time. (Pro's Softbait Glue)
And yes, repaired baits catch fish as well as new ones.

Ain't that the truth. I have a few years of Senkos stocked and I'm not
sure what the average price has been. It's probably not as cheap as
The Natural, but less than $5.
Back to GYCB Senkos...
That's what I fish and I think there are advantages that justify a higher
price. Try GYCB soft plastics and see what you think. If it turns out you
have wasted a few dollars, so what?
Fish what you like, GYCB works for me.

GYCB Senkos are $5.99 for a 10/ at Dick's.

I know the 5" ones are $5.99, not sure how much the 6'ers cost.

Here's the price from the GYCB site. 6" senkos are a 5 pack and cost $5.99.

A $1.20 a piece for a plastic worm is absurd. How can Gary Yammatto justify that? Does any one think that it costs him even .50 a piece to make those things? I don't. As long as that bait has been on the market the process should be very efficient and costs even less than they were originally. I think he has made a big mistake with that price increase given the state of the economy a lot of guys won't be buying at all and most that do are not going to pay that price, I hope they sit on the shelves and rot. How about it Gary, do you want to come on this site and try to justify your price? Or have you become too greedy and arrogant? There is a principal here, and I will not buy another Yammatto product until they are priced more fairly. >

I doubt Gary Yamamoto will lose sleep due to your opinion. :
Senko and all stick-baits for that matter just go to show that there is luck in fishing..... :-X
I'm just happy that the fish are catching on to them up here.

He'll lose sleep when his sales plummet and I think there are plenty who will not pay that much for any of his baits. We'll see, time will tell.
Since when are Senkos $12 a bag? Bad math there, they are $6 for a bag of 10. $.60 for a few bites isn't really so bad, considering the rest of my gear used to catch that fish, LOL. Try and look at the big picture here, guys.

As I pointed out earlier, the OP was specifically asking about SIX inch senkos and not 4 or 5 inch ones. The SIX inch senkos come in 5 packs and not 10 packs like the 4 and 5 inch ones.
Ahhh, foot in mouth disease strikes again. 6" Senkos don't work anyway ;D

the cost isn't bad when you get 'a few bites'. Figure how much it would cost to catch 40 of 'em. How about guides? Handing those worms out two or three at a time?
Personally, if you're catching 40 of them, then I'd say you could probably find another pattern thats even more efficient. If I paid a guide, and he handed me Senkos, I'd be a little disappointed. I guess I see them as a follow up bait, more than a primary bait or search bait.
i havent bought a senko/senko knockoff for nearly 2 years.
Eyes wide open buddy. Stick worms are played out in most of the waters here.
I bet you would!!!! LMAO too. Keep up the good work.Quote(similar logic, if I hired a guide, and he handed me a 'senko'; i'd be dissappointed. LMAO....)
I still pay six bucks for a bag of ten. Still worth every penny because these lures flat out catch TONS of bass.
I swear by senkos. I'm not saying that I won't use a BPS sticko (in fact, I use them all the time), but sometimes it seems like senkos are just the thing the fish are looking for. But, sometimes it seems like the fish want a little faster fall rate, and the sticko is a little heavier and has the pointed end (which I usually rip off)
My friend hates how expensive senkos are, so he will not buy them . We've fished senkos vs. stickos and yum dingers a couple times, and we are usually close to even. Usually I'll beat him, but he has beaten me with the dinger a couple times.
Anyway, at Dicks I pay 6.99, bu at the little discount place/tackle shop, I still pay $5.99.
You can get twenty 5 3/8 inch or 6 inch BPS sticko's for $3.33 each during the fishing classic sale. I have never fished a Senko but I would be willing to bet that they are not that much better than the BPS brand. Certainly not good enough to justify the price! I buy about 20 packs during the classic and fish them all year w/o having to buy anymore.

Comparing the BPS Stick-O to a GYCB Senko is like comparing a Ford Pinto to a Mercedes.
I buy the imitations on Ebay 50 for $14 shipped. They work just as good!

If you haven't tried them , you can't form any intelligant decision about them.
This is true but I still can't image them being 5 times the price better. I have used the Kinami flash (aren't they made by Yamamoto or his son) and they didn't get anymore bites then the BPS brand.

Yep, they both get you the same results, one just costs 5 times more $!

It is obvious that I only fish the original Senko by Gary Yamamoto. No Knock-Offs for me. I have been on their Pro Team for 5-6 years now.
I just saw in the Dick's Sporting Goods ad this morning that they have Gary Yamamoto Senkos for $5. I guess now would be the time for you guys to get hooked up and save a few bucks.

You may want to check your math there Mr Hawking. :
How did this "my senko is better than yours" thread make it this far?
Use what you like. I know what I like and I know which ones actually work better.I know which ones are far more durable but stiff as a piece of old leather too. :
I haven't tried Senkos yet let alone those offered by other manufacturers but I see both sides of the discussion. Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes we're just paying for a name.
I've used several companies buzzbaits and can say that I will only buy Cavitron buzzbaits as they are worth the extra money. I've learned about them from this site and I value the expert opinions here.
Other things such as the HDMI cables in the Everything Else forum support the argument that sometimes we are paying for a name.
Myself, I went ahead and ordered true Senkos based on respected opinions here. Will I catch more fish with them? Dunno. As we all know, at some point it isn't the arrow; it's the indian.
I dont pay anything for my senkos but I pay around 3 dollars for my Tiki Sticks. Nothing against senkos, I just like the SweetPotatoPie color.
On the note of "my senko is better" I want a 12 inch senko so that I can say mine is bigger

Is 5 pages enough? If not, use the seach function and you can
probably find another 2-300.
