Tungsten in the past 5-10 years has revolutionized bass fishing. Using lead bullet and drop shot weights are a thing of the past for most avid fisherman. Tungsten being two times more dense than lead is a must have in fishing Texas rigs. You can still have the fall rate of any lead weight but at half the size now that is a huge advantage. But the main problem with fishing tungsten is the price! If you go into any of your local sporting good stores buying a couple weights or only one weight can be a whopping 6-10 dollars!! And that is a lot of money; for anyone no matter who you are. But if you still want to get tungsten weights at a cheaper cost here is the link to do so:

As much as I'd love to try tungsten, I have a hard time paying over $1.00/weight. I've been known to lose over 40 on a bad day. I was only out about $3 for swivel clips since I make my own lead weights.

I don't feel there's any benefit to tungsten DS weights, but for bullet sinkers...oh yeah.

Anything from a half an ounce up I use tungsten just because of the size. Lead is still pretty cheap and they haven't outlawed it in my state yet. Not to mention that I still have lead bullet weights from the early 90's that I haven't used yet.

I like the tungsten a lot but like many others it's hard to pay the price. I have a limited amount and only buy for my T-rigged and flipping setup.
I want some in blood red. Hoping OM Tungsten has some I messaged them hopefully they do but haven't got them on their website. I seem to have better luck with red ones.

I personally don't recommend off-brand tungsten since I've seen it weaken line after awhile, even 65lb seaguar flippin braid

blood red or any shade of red is all i use for punching as my number one punch bait is Savage Gear's rattling reaction craw . if i can't get them cheap , i just paint them my self with epoxy paint .

What makes you think it's off brand?
They're just cutting out the middle man, and wholesaling direct.

That's good to know. In my local shop back home they have "their own brand of tungsten" and it damages line.

They are probably seconds. There's only a few places that actually make the weights.

Find myself using tungsten more and more often, especially when flipping with braid into heavy cover. With it being so compact it just seems to get through everything better and I don't lose them often fishing with braid.

As far as them being seconds, i dont really care.
As long as they dont tear up my line, its all good.
I will givem all a good look, and fish them for 2days,and deside.
Them fish dont know what --seconds-- are anyways

Your line fraying and breaking will let you know if they're seconds.

Because of the price I usually only buy less than 50 weights. So it's not to hard to sit down at the table in good light and inspect each one. You can use a piece of line run through them and visually holding up to the light.
So far I haven't had a issue with the 3 to 4 different places I have bought from. Just check them just like you do hook points, reel grease/oil, rod eyes, etc and there won't be a issue. If there is return them or fix them before taking them on your fishing trip.

I was lucky, I found some blemished inserted 1 oz and 1.5 ounce Tungsten sinkers online that were blemished silver weights with scratches, and a dozen of each was only $28.
I then learned an awesome tip. If you want to color a silver Tungsten weight Black, Take a BBQ lighter and heat one up (It melts the inserts) but turns it solid black.
I prefer silver anyhow if I go over 1/2 ounce, I think the flash helps when it falls so fast, but I never fish tungsten on braid without an Insert or coating my line. Cheap tungsten is often not as smooth, and I have had breakoffs that were.....Heartbreaking. It is hard to recover after fishing for 2 hours and then finally getting a solid bass on only to set the hook and have slack in your line 10 seconds later because the Tungsten was too rough inside.
I don't think sensitivity matters when going over a 1/2 ounce for pitching, So I just leave them silver but the days of spending $10 for a weight are over. Smaller weights I only buy Name brand and I then coat the line. I never use lead anymore except for 1/16.

you lose 40 weights in a day? i am not sure i have lost 40 weights in the past 2 seasons.

I have. And the next day I fished the exact same milk run and didn't lose a single one. Must have been some odd currents.

I do, and i switch to football heads as they are less prone to snagging. I also use dragging heads as well which are also very snag resistant in the rocks.

I received my order. It took a bit longer than they say but I don't think it is their fault. It is coming from China. I got the unpainted worm weights and what I really love about them is the weight is "molded" into each weight. Some of it is pretty light and if the weights were painted it would probably be unreadable. Just FYI...

I ordered on 9/30 and, aside from an email receipt from PayPal, I haven't seen a thing. Not even so much as a shipping notice. I did notice that the name on the receipt is written in Chinese, so I'm guessing it will take a while to ship. A little communication would be nice though.

That stinks! But from China, things can take forever....

Update: One week short of two months and I have finally received my order.
