We are getting into frogging season and I was wondering what y'all's preference on top water frogs were and why?
*** Lunker Frog in bullfrog color. I like either on lillypads or under trees. Why?- I like the frog because of the presentation with the legs.
-Eli
Caught these last weekend( plus 2 more, and missed 6 others. all in 10-15 minutes.Thats a bite a minute!), This frog works, and every bass will take it- no matter the size. Its cheap too!
Ish
Snag Proof Frog
The old school basser...
Spro Frog all the way! To me it is the most versatile
Booyah or KVD!
Livetarget for me.
Stanley Ribbit
I have two, but use more.
First is the Spro popper. It is so versatile, it walks better than the original, and can pop when I feel that I need to be more aggressive to draw fish in.
The other is the Booyah pad crasher, soft, reliable, and it sits at a great angle in the water. Plus it is more affordable than other frogs.
I have had 3 Spro originals and they all sank either out of the package, or after a short time fishing, not buying one again. KVD frog sank out of the package too. I have some Snag Proof Perfect and Ish Phat frogs too. No complaints on performance, I jut think that the Pad Crasher overall is a slightly better frog, and costs a little less. I'm going to be trying out Booyah's popper offering this season.
Yeah I also like the pad crasher, it is kinda hard to walk though, but you can't beat the price and durability!
So another question. What color frogs do you all like?
Spro bronzeye, popping, or bronzeye shad.
Koppers livetarget, fished in weedbeds or in shade pockets under trees and brush.
My favorite color is green brown.
Bronzeye shad in killer gill. ? I tried the lunker hunt combat frog and it just sunk. Do they all do that?

^^This^^ ... A Booyah Pad Crasher (standard size !) is an awesome frog - great colors (start with Leopard frog or Cricket frog), body collapses well on the bite , very good hooks / hook up ratio , floats well and attractive price . If you want it to walk better just trim one of the legs about 1/2 inch shorter than the other one and it will kick out to the side better on a walk-the-dog type retrieve ... At Booyah Pad Crasher prices - it's fun to experiment with different colors and actions (by trimming the leg length on one side as previlusly mentioned) .
I haven't caught a frog fish yet, but I'm trying as hard as I can. Been throwing them nonstop for the last 4-5 days when I can make it out.
I like the *** because of the legs. Gives it so much lifelike action. I have two Spros, which are also good, but I prefer the ***.
What's the matter with the word Lunker Hunt?
Pad Crasher is a cool little frog.
I've always had the most luck with spros. I just picked up the honker and whacker frog from teckel USA though to try something new.
Booyah all the way, especially the junior size when the weeds aren't too thick as I almost always nail them with the smaller size. In fact, my two biggest bass have come on a Pad Crasher Jr. I don't mind the Koppers Live Target either but I have much more confidence in a Pad Crasher.

Yours wasn't the only one. A friend of mine bought one and his sinks about halfway through his retrieve.

Agreed, a fantastic frog at a great price. It also might just be me but I've found the popping version to walk even more easily than the regular one. But yes, trim the legs if walking is difficult!
Absolutely nothing is better than the livetarget hollow body frog, im a froggin fanatic and i have tried about 50 different frogs or so, livetarget is the softest most realistic frog on the market. but if your a poor man, believe it or not the scum frog is a catchin machine, mainly because of how soft it is, you can get some real nice hook sets with it. i would suggest everyone to atleast give livetarget a try, and you'll be hooked
Depends upon the presentation:
Steady retrieve - Stanley Ribbit
Walking - Evolve Nervous Walker or SPRO BronzEye Popper
Floating/Pausing - Ken Daubert Clone Frog
Sebile Pivot Frog..
I have found 2 different frogs that stand out from the rest . Booyah Pad Crasher, A floating collapsible frog that gets a high percentage of hooksets . It has sticky sharp dual frog hook that is positioned to be exposed with very little bite pressure , and, PivotFrog from Sebile that is shaped much like other floating frogs , but, has a single larger hook that is midway between the rear legs of the frog , is weighted , and pivots upward for great hook exposure when a strike happens........I've tried a lot of other frogs ,and, these two have my vote.
Green/Pepper Scum Frog...Why? I think It's the softest frog there is.
I've had the best hook ratio with it over all the more popular ones.
Mike
Spro in green and black
Biffle edition frog in a natural green and yellow.
I go spro
But evolve nervous walker was very soft and had good walk. It's discontinued now though.
I have a pony gabot but haven't hooked up yet and a river2sea popper I haven't used.
Spro king daddy works too, you'd be surprised at the small bass trying to choke it.
My favorite is the Bronzeye 65 in Outback color. I also love the Bronzeye Jr in that color. The Bronzeye Shad is also a favorite when the bass are targeting bait fish.
R2S Spittin' Wa 70 is also a good big fish bait. I don't get nearly as many strikes on it as the Spro but when I do its usually a good one.
H20 in white or black.
Spro Bronzeye in green tree.
I've done surprising well on Z Man Hard Leg Frogz. Being able to stop and just let it sit there before starting it up again has triggered strikes.
Questions for anybody: How well does a Snag Proof Weed Demon walk compared to the more modern frogs? And how well does it walk compared a hard-bodied walker?
I use Teckel frogs and River2Sea frogs. I find the Teckel frogs to be easy to walk.

White or black.
Long time user of Kopper's LT frogs. Can fish them various ways and they can take one heck of a beating before they have to be retired.
Sexy frog
booyah and spro in certain colors , the junior size is my go to bass slayer!!
Spro or Lunker Hunt.
Overall the live target frogs are probably the best. Spro are good also but don't have that softness. I do really like the king daddy frogs from spro though. I guess it like a swimbait sized frog. I kinda prefer popping frogs most of the time now a days. I can walk them just as well usually and they can also be popped so it's a bonus. For buzz frogs it's a Stanley ribbit all day. I really wanted it to be a top toad but no mattet how I rig them it doesn't seem right. I have also missed almost every fish ever on them. For a pause retrieve like the crappy Lunk Hunter frogs people seem to like its easily Ken Dauberts frogs. I have not tried the new mass produced ones that are like $10 but I have caught tons of fish on the much more expensive older ones.
Question...bas fisherman go hog nuts about proper presentation and realistic lures...
When have you ever seen a real live frog "walk the dog"?
2. Saying the Live Target or Lunker Hunt frogs look the most realistic seems to be important, but bass really aren't that smart. What the crap is a chatterbait supposed to look like because it's not realistic? A Senko isn't a realistic looking bait. Heck...a Mepps doesn't really look like any aquatic animal but we use them and they work...we will spend $50+ on a swimbait because the paint job looks the most realistic.
I think we go a little overboard in thinking bass can discern one paint scene over another.
Back to the topic: I've got several frogs from KVD to Live Target to H2O abd they all do fine....but the Live Target Field Mouse has caught me a lot of fish too.
