Best Moisture Wicking Long Sleeve Fishing T - Shirt ? 2024

fishing user avatarChrisD46 reply :

As the title states , what is your favorite moisture wicking long sleeve T- Shirt / Jersey style fishing shirt with the following features :

* Comfortable , non - scratchy material

* Ability to wick moisture away and help keep you dry

* Ample room / Relaxed fit for movement

* SPF 50 sun screen protection

* Larger sizes available

Thanks in advance for replies - I need to ditch all my cotton T-Shirts used for fishing as I'm tired of feeling like a soaking wet rag in Georgia heat and humidity !

fishing user avatarSmalls reply :

Columbia and Aftco seem to be the lightest and most comfortable for me. Columbia’s seem to have a little more “room” in em.

I like the Magellan one I found on clearance at Academy this winter.

I have several of the Magellan shirts and have been really happy with them. I have little to compare them to since I've never spent the money on any higher end shirts, but they seen to meet everything you're looking for in a $20 shirt.

Agree on the Magellan shirt from Academy. Works good, plenty of pockets, and reasonable price.

fishing user avatarFishinBuck07 reply :

I like my Columbia shirts, haven't tried any others though.  Haven't felt the need to!

fishing user avatarTimbuktree reply :

Another Columbia fan here  - and I'm bigger guy - 6-5, 285  - and I find their shirts to be very comfortable

fishing user avatarPhishLI reply :

Orvis Tech T-shirt. Micro polyester. Comfy on the skin. SPF 50 that's legit. I never get sun burned wearing them and I'm as white as a sheet of paper due to the Irish half. I prefer the white shirts over the grey on high sun days. They dry quickly once wet. They're pricey but worth it to me. But they only seem to come with a big fish plastered on the back if that matters to you.

Yep, that's them. I need a few more. They're really light and breezy for our 100 degree days.

Adidas Creator Long Sleeve.

*shameless plug for my employer*

Also Badger makes an awesome Ultimate Softlock for $22.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

I've got a couple of the HUK shirts, a couple of the Magellan shirts, a Patagonia shirt and a Simms shirt.   They all work. I find that I wear the hoodies more than the non-hoodies.

fishing user avatartander reply :

Might want to check Hanes website out, they have long sleeve spf50 shirt up to 3XL for $10. I have 4, for the money, they are hard to beat.

Good point. I find Columbia and UnderArmor often at Marshal’s and Ross for under $20.

fishing user avatarNHBull reply :

Columbia may be the best bang for the buck and is always on sale somewhere.

Orvis is expensive, but the most comfortable for me

fishing user avatarRichF reply :

Under Armour's Coolswitch or Isochill shirts are really nice.  They really do get a cool feeling when wet.  Those have been the best for me. I have a couple Huk shirts but the mesh back pills so badly.  Wore them once and they look like trash.

fishing user avatarA-Jay reply :

I wore Columbia & Under Armour for a long time but it's HUK now.

All Day Every Day ~ Big fan.

Works especially well south of the border - and believe me - there's plenty of moisture to wick during those trips.

I’ll recommend one step further to buy Columbia PFG hooded version. You pay a little more but extra cover around your next.

fishing user avatarBassWhole! reply :

Another vote for Columbia PFG.

fishing user avatarChrisD46 reply :

I appreciate the replies - I have an Academy nearby so I will try the Meggellan version to begin (anything is better than my cotton shirts ) then I will explore the other suggestions listed here . *There appears to be a lot more dry / moisture wicking fishing shirt options today - why suffer right ?

fishing user avatarCrankFate reply :

I wear an UnderArmour with a T-Shirt over it. UA is still the best IMO. But I went crazy ordering the SA Company arm sleeves this season. I am keeping my fingers crossed on them making whole shirts some time soon.

fishing user avatartxchaser reply :

I have and have worn the Huk, Simms, Orvis. The Huk is definitely cooler than the others.

I bought a two-pack of the hanes cool and dry mentioned above on amazon for 18.00. Lots of colors and great reviews. And I just bought an iso-chill (because Texas). Haven't tried either yet.

fishing user avatarTBAG reply :

I have mostly Columbia but also have an Under Armour fish with a cool graphic that works great too.

fishing user avatarRpratt reply :

I like my HUK shirts. Use the vented for summer, they work great but I don't think any shirt will keep ya really cool with the humidity we have.

On a Slight side note, I like the Magellen fishing shorts. Good price and dry really fast for a decent price.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Magellan, except I prefer button up!  ????

I feel that my body sweats for a few reasons, one of which to cool me off. I don't want it wicked away

fishing user avatarflatcreek reply :

Iv’e got several Magellans and really like em.i’ll be getting some more

fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

Big Columbia shirt fan here.  I often fish in 90+ degree heat in the summer, and these are the most comfortable for me.  Specifically the PFG button up shirts, not the performance T-shirts. Those are too tight for me.

I haven't tried Heybo shirts yet, but they seem to be an up-and-comer worth checking out.

I have the Simms Tri-Comp shirt.  It's a little heavier than the Columbia with a tighter fit in the forearms. I think they're great below 85 degrees.

Huk doesn't keep me as cool as the Columbia PFG shirts.

Whew,  thought it was just me

fishing user avatarDirtyeggroll reply :

When buying Huk there are multiple varieties. The version that had the back of the sleeves and the lower half of the back vented/meshed are the coolest of any shirt I’ve worn in my opinion. I have other Huk shirts (and other brands) that don’t have this meshing and they are substantially hotter.

That’s not how the shirts work. Trust me, if you get a good shirt you will be substantially cooler. It will block the sun and remove the moisture and humidity on your body making you feel much cooler. You will still sweat about as much but you won’t notice it near as much. It’s kind of like being in Utah in 100 degree weather versus being in a Georgia swamp in 100 degree weather.

fishing user avatarMikeltee reply :

I wear these $9 long sleeves as an undershirt everyday to work as an electrician. They last a year or so:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BBRJ7H8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also wear these under my pants:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BX922QS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They work in the winter to keep you warm and the summer to wick the sweat and help with UV. Without them I sweat through shirts by the time I walk into the job site to where I am working. I suppose you can pay $50 for Under Armour or $60 for Huk. I don't see the point being an undershirt though... Only you will know that you are a baller.

fishing user avatarChief250 reply :

Huk icon x hoodie.

fishing user avatarRevival reply :

How is the sizing for the Magellan shirts?

I usually wear a Large or X-Large depending on the shirt (regular shirts) but with the Columbia PFG long sleeve shirts, I wear a medium.  I also have T-Rex arms.

I wear a XL in the Magellan shirts like I do in everything else.

fishing user avatarbigjean663 reply :

Magellan shirts are great for the price. Right now they’re BOGO half off (at least I believe they still are). With that being said, I’ve got Columbia shirts as well and they’re definitely lighter feeling but for the $35ish price, I’ll get two of the magellan ones.

Haha, got my dad a 3x huk, he loves it. He says his middle section is earned. I’ve yet to buy any nice ones for me. I’ve never taken the sun seriously at all, but since developing more sun spots I wear these shirts more often. Got some house brand ones from Gander before the rebranded, for $5, and a tackle warehouse one(Hanes) for $20. I wear em all the time now.

fishing user avatarFishTank reply :

I have tried several and my favorite is a long sleeve button up, the Air Strip Shirt from Exofficio.

fishing user avataranderb54 reply :

I'm really partial to the Anetik brand clothing. I also have assorted Simms and Huk brand long tees as well, and both are nice.

fishing user avatarwhitwolf reply :

Another vote for Columbia..... I just like the fit, they keep me cool, and for some reason I'm brand loyal, to a fault sometimes. It usually takes a lot for me to change.
