symetre vs supreme 2024

fishing user avatarI.rar reply :

ill be heading to BPS sometime this week to pick up a new reel for my fenwick and im stuck between the symetre 1000 and supreme 25 or 30. i can MAYBE do the saros 1000 if its worth the extra.

suggestions?

fishing user avatar.ghoti. reply :

No question about the it. The Supreme is a much better reel than the Symetre. I have both.

You heard this from a Daiwa fan. All 15 casting reels in my starting line-up are Daiwa. My two spinning reels are a Supreme and a Supreme XT.

In their price range, neither Daiwa nor Shimano can compare.

fishing user avatarGoose52 reply :

I have a Supreme 8025 - great reel, light, good drag; I have 20lb braid on it. It was actually my most used reel last season and cranked in 423 fish... ;)

fishing user avatarUncle Leo reply :

I own both, I have to say that both are decent but dollar for dollar the Supreme is the much better value.

fishing user avatarGrey Wolf reply :

Supreme.

fishing user avatarAl Wolbach reply :

I have both and prefer the supreme..............Al

fishing user avatarStasher1 reply :

I sold my Symteres and replaced them with Supremes. One of the best fishing-related decisions I've made so far. The Supremes are smoother, lighter, and (imo) better looking than the Symetres.

No contest.

fishing user avatarThe Rooster reply :

Wow, the Symetre is getting no love in this thread.   :-[

;D ;D ;D

fishing user avatargotarheelz14 reply :

Neither. Soron STX  ;D

fishing user avatarNiagaraguy reply :

Supremes for sure

Aw, that's niiice!!  A reel got a vote that wasn't even asked about and the Symetre STILL got nothing.

;D ;)

fishing user avatarbilgerat reply :

You know where I stand.

fishing user avatartrevor reply :

Well I don't have the Supreme. But sounds like a great reel. I do have the Saros and it is a great reel as well. And the Symetre is not to far off from the Saros, so its probably great too. Mabye take the rod along and try both for balance? The Supreme in a 1000 size is really light, making the rod tip heavy... but thats just me.

That sounds familiar for some reason..... ;D

Just sayin'.....

fishing user avatarTrippyJai reply :

I've only used my new Supreme for practice casting and I can tell that I'll love it along with my President. Great price for that reel.

fishing user avatar5bass reply :

Wow, not much of a bout in this one. The Supreme body slammed the Symetre. No big surprise.

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

Pfluegers are pretty nice...............for a couple years, then you throw them away. A $99 Shimano or Daiwa might not be as feature layden, but you'll still have it in 10 years.

Yep, there it is.....w2farmer's opinion  ;)

fishing user avatarI.rar reply :

woah  ;D thanks guys.

ill bring the rod with me and see how the two supremes balance out. BPS is pretty good about keeping their customers happy , so i imagine if i didnt like the reel , i could always exchange it.

WOW, this definitely isn't the way I saw this ending.  After all those votes for the Pflueger??  Hmmm......

I'm taking it that ebay didn't have the 8025 either??

fishing user avatarI.rar reply :

ive had my eye on the saros for a long while now. ive owned a couple citicas a shimano rods without any complaint so i figured with their solid reputation , they build a solid spinning reel for the price.

thats not to bash pflueger. i did have a couple presidents and the others ive held felt good.

fishing user avatarThe Rooster reply :

I looked at the Saros but went with the Symetre.  It was just as smooth feeling though I like the bearing handle on the Saros better, plus 2 spools instead of only one.  But the Symetre was more affordable at the moment and I had only budgeted $70 for a reel to start with.  I was stretching to reach out there and get it for $100.  I also considered ebay to save a bit, but anymore I don't trust ordering, afraid of getting something I won't like and it's hard to return or costs to send it back.  Also I like patronizing my local shops, trying to help keep them in business so they're there when I want something, and build a relationship with the owners so they take care of me too.  It's too far to a BPS or Cabela's, nearly 3 hours one way.

i considered the symetre as well but i didnt want to settle for something.

i am also hesitant to purchase off ebay but i do a bit of research on the seller by looking back on whatever negative feedback they have to see what they had issues with. ive bought something from this seller before iirc , and everything went smoothly.

i do try to support the local shops but being so close to the ocean , it seems all they carry are larger saltwater reels. i get some funny looks and some " :-? for what?"s when i tell them im looking for a 1000 size reel  ;D.
