I am in the market for another spinning reel to update my shakespeare reel.I wanting to know what is the best spinning reel under 100 bucks.I mainly fish plastics and occasionally I may fish jerkbaits with it.Any help would be great.I am very seriously thinking of getting the Pflueger® President® XT or pay little more money and get the Abu Garcia Soron Stx
The President is one of the best bang-for-your-buck spinning reels out there IMO. You can find them <$60 on sale.
Either choice isn't bad at all.
For what you want , you might look at a reel with a fast gear like a pflueger supreme for 99.99 or a shimano sahara for 79.99.
Diawa tournament ss series. I've used them for without a single problem.
I like the Supreme but the President XT isn't a bad choice.............Al
Shimano Sahara, or Sedona, depending on what you want to spend.
I have a Sedona FB already and I just want to upgrade my old shakespeare cirrus reel.I am wanting to maybe use one with fluorocarbon line and one with 20lbs braid for plastics and such.
shimano sonora
For $100, the Symetre gets my vote, 'nuff said. Its ability to spool directly, change the winding shape of the line on the spool give it the nod for me. FC can be finicky on spinning reels so the latter item I mentioned good be useful to you. Can't comment on the other two reels.
I like the President. You can find them at walmart now. My brother bought won there for 30 bucks! Can you believe that!? I have one and really enjoy it.
There may be a worst for under a $100 but there is no best, they all perform well for bass and under normal fishing conditions should last a reasonable amount of time.
Ive said it a bunch of times but here it is again:
The best spinning reel for under 100$ is the one you buy off the flea market that was originally worth 200$ and is in mint condition.
I tried the president and it was really smooth with light plastis. But when I ties on a bait with a lil weight to it ...it struggled to reel in and made a slight knocking noise. Took it back and got a daiwa exceller. Love it.. no probs at all!
I think the Pflueger Supreme is hard to beat at any price. Great Reel.
Love my Symetre. Got it for $70 new on ebay

Pay the little bit of extra money. You can get an Abu Soron STX for ~$120 new on EBAY...an awesome reel.

This would be my choice as well. I've owned a few Symetres and they've all been replaced with Supremes and Supreme XTs.

It is the Symetre I bought for $20.
I have a Supreme 8035MG in excellent/spotless condition that I'd be willing to part with for far less than $100. I could even do a complete outfit with the Supreme and a 6'8" MXF Avid if you feel like driving up to the Atl. area.
The drive to atlanta would cost me more in gas than the rod and reel would cost lol.It just to far for me to drive to Atlanta. Its about 180 miles or so from here.I wish I could have the time to drive up there tho.I havent been to Atlanta for couple of years now.

Yeah its easier to ship a reel than to ship a rod.So how much do u want for the reel. Also how much would u take for rod and reel in case I may change my mind.If its to good to pass up I may gas up and head up 75 lol.
I love my Symetre 3000

PM sent.
I'm a Shimano guy, and I really like my Sahara.
I just bought the stradic FI 3000 today. Now all I need to do is put some line on it and save some money to buy a rod on it.But till then I am going to put it on my 7 ft M dropshot rod.I am wanting to get a Abu Garcia Veritas 7ft MH when I get the money.
have you considered Daiwa's Tierra, they're great reels for the money and lil tanks. TW has them for $99, shipped. I fished the snot out of one for many years, sent it out to be serviced and it came back like new. I fish my gear hard, and I dont tuck em in at night, they get rode hard and throw in the corner wet. The Daiwa spinning reels have been good to me.....but I'll admit, I'd really like to get my hands on one of those Ci4's
