During the fishing classic, BPS Carbonlite rods will be 40% off.

How do they compare to other rods in that price range
the older model right?
Does the rod trade-in still apply or not?

Yes.

Don't know for sure but not likely.

The Classic sale from Feb 6-15 offers Carbonlite rods starting at $89.97 and you can use a working rod trade in. The new white Carbonlites are included. With a trade in you will get $15 off a rod purchase of $75-$99.99, $20 off a rod purchase of $100-$119.99, and $25 off a rod purchase of $120-$159.99

So the black ones will be at about $60 each, then!!
Hmm, darn good price to pick up some actions I don't
have.......
I wish I lived near a bass pro shops that actually had stuff in stock.
with a trade in tho u could get a new one for 75. wonder if the new ones r that much better than the older ones

I think you mean $85, as the new CL is $99.
Anything $75 - $99.99 is $15 off. Unless you get
a CL that's over $100, which is probably what you
meant.
So those would get $20 off.
$99.99 -15.00 = $84.99
$100-119.99 - 20 = $80.00 to 99.99
The microguide models would fall under $25 off.
yea but the new carbonlites will be on sale for 89 during this time if im not mistaken.
I would rather have the old one....On 2/1/2015 at 2:28 AM, robster80 said:with a trade in tho u could get a new one for 75. wonder if the new ones r that much better than the older ones

You're right!
I guess I will have to look at them both to figure out which one I prefer

I know the feeling.
Thank you, great deal. Hope my local store has some left.
I have the old one for my frog setup. Man it's a nice rod.
So guys, I stopped by the Hampton BPS today on
the way home from some indoor soccer games and...
The white CL rods did NOT impress me as much as
I thought/hoped they would!! They felt a tad more
tip-heavy than the black I have. Problem being I could
not do a side-by-side comparison, only from memory
of my three black models.
And the other bad thing, Hootie, maybe you can provide
more info?:
The Hampton store sent ALL their black CL rods back to
corporate. Apparently the Richmond store has some the
guys there told me.
So the final question is this: is the 40% off the black versions
going to be BOTH and online and in-store sale?

Are you sure you didn't grab a Bionic Blade by mistake? They're both white EVA split grip rods. The new ones blow the old noes out of the water in both the lightness and balance departments. I looked long and hard at the old ones and went Veritas Micro becase it was on par in the lightness but had more backbone and felt crisper. The new carbonelites make the Veritas Micro feel like a lead pipe.

Positive. I will admit, the Hampton BPS did not have
a huge supply of the new CLs, but I tested out the
6'6" M and ML that were in stock, both spinning and
casting.
Granted, they were darn close, just felt a tad heavier
in the tip. Not bad, by any means. I think I like the Ti
guides better, assume the will stand up better than the
guides on the black version.
The guys at the BPS counter said they were gettin a
LOT of complaints over the white models - mostly due
to color, FWIW.
For me, if I could land some black models, I'd be happy
for a long while.
Hootie, I appreciate the heads up. I was already looking at the carbonlites for my new spinning rod, this pretty much seals the deal. I'll keep my eye out for the older black ones and see if I can compare them.

Maybe the new ones are less awesome in the 7 foot M/ML powers and lengths. I grabbed a 7'6'' MH and went "holly crap, how can a 7'6'' be this awesome". I swear the tip was stiffer than the old MH but I need that one.. uh independently verified. If you love the old ones then just go buy them, even at regular retail because it's not like they are getting any more of them. The new ones are based on an entirety different blank making them completely different rods and an unknown quantity. Sometimes it's best to stick with what you know. BPS is not above wrecking a good thing by "improving". Go ask an Extreme reel.

Boy did I make the mistake on that reel.

Totally agree. It's all in the "hands" of the beholder,
so-to-speak. Since I don't go over 6'6" I didn't pick
up any of those.
I wish BPS left the two models, or maybe intro the
white with a new name, and leave the blacks as-is
or upgrade the guides, etc.
But hey, I'm not the billionaire who runs the place, LOL.
I was in my BPS tonight and they are already marked down to around $70. Many of the more popular sizes have barely any left though such as 7 foot medium heavy. And they were mostly the micro guide ones. Slim pickings.
Is the Carbonlite pretty much the best sensitive rod under $110 that you can get at Bass Pro? I need a dedicated worm rod and want sensitivity and strength...looking at 7 MH with fast tip. I have gift cards and will get a rod in the Spring Classic, especially with the rod trade in and discounts.

I was planning on doing the same thing. I was also going to check out the duckett ghost rods.

I would look at the Extreme rods while you are there. I have had a good experience with them. They are sensitive and strong. I have heard of the CarbonLites breaking more than the Extremes. Not saying that they are brittle but I have heard more stories of them breaking than the extremes. I love when you have a light rod, but I feel like what you get in the lightness factor, you lose in the strength factor. I am not saying the Extremes are heavy, but the Carbonlites are super light. If you are looking for light and sensitive I would go Carbonlite, if you are looking for strength and sensitivity I would go with the Extreme.
My bps yesterday didn't have the old carbonlites OR A SINGLE CRANKING STICK. Not the old ones. ...and definitely not the new ones. I complained. The guy shrugged. I said. ..hey. ...this is one of your best selling rods and and complete relaunch of the brand with a new design abd features, and you don't have them? !
He shrugged.
I did too. And I walked out.
To academy I went ......
More on topic- the new carbonlites felt amazing. I loved everything about it.

They are waiting until tomorrow to put the stuff out. At least that's the way the Cincinnati store does it.
Hootie
^One can hope.
The guy seemed to think there were either none coming, or he didn't know when they were. I've been wanting to check out the new cranking stick because that's the only rod I need- a deep cranker. ( gasp! I know! What does that even mean? !)
In all honesty, I don't go to bps very often at all because we have a dicks and academy in the same area and they are always way cheaper and have real sales.
Bps is always overpriced on the same stuff and their "sales" tend to be ho-hum.
I was able to get an 7.0 MH Extreme 40% off for 60, less 10 with the rod trade in. Prefer the cork grip and happy with a couple of other Extremes I have had for a few years. No black Carbonlite's at my local store.
Here's hopin' there's a 7' ML Crankin' Stick in Auburn Hills on Saturday.

If not, just order one from the store. They will still honor the trade-in discount.
Thanks Hootie for the heads up. I went to BPS today and nabbed two of the older Carbonlites. They were on clearance. They even let me do the rod trade in. So I got them for 61.99 and 55.99. I got a 6'6" M/F and 7' MH/F. They are friggin light! I grabbed another PQ 7.1.1 ratio. Plan was to get 2 of the PQ's, but I passed that up when I saw the Carbonlites.
The Clearance rods ruined my plan though. This year I didn't have a higher budget (saving for trip to Florida), I was going to buy more lures and miscellaneous stuff but couldn't pass it up. They were going fast.
Just to also let everyone know, the old cranking stick was on clearance, KVD cranking rods, Daiwa Lexas and Extremes.
So I was in Richmond, VA for a soccer tourney for one
of my boys. During the downtime I went to the BPS there
as I knew they had old Carbonlites (called first).
I wanted a 6'6" M, settled for a ML as the only 6'6" models
were 2 piece, not what I wanted.
Anyhow, today my buddy and I walked a local pond and fished.
Me with my ML Carbonlite + a Stradic 1000FI, him with his new
white Carbonlite (M 6'6") + a new Sahara 1000.
I tried it out. The white was WAY more tip-light than my ML.
SOOoooo, I went to the Hampton BPS tonight, exchanged the
ML for a new white M.
Anyhow, not sure why the ML was so different in tip-heaviness.
My black M is only a tad more tip-heavy than the white M, but
less so than the ML. Curious.
I checked out the black carbonlites at my BPS and saw that they had the JM signature series II for about 10 dollars difference (black carbonlites were 71 and JM Sig Series II were 83). I picked up 2 JM Sig series (casting and spinning) in MH. Anyone have any experience with these? In comparison to the black carbonlites, they were a little heavier, but the guides looked better on the JM Sig series.
