Looks like they were painted with a brush. I'll give you $80 (shipped) for both. :)

Finesse reel?

110 yards of 14 lb. capacity.

The spool is quite deep.

fishing user avatarMicro reply :

Is the frame REALLY smaller than the 100D?  I can't imagine that and wonder if it's true?

fishing user avatarMuddy reply :

Looks like both She Mano and Flooger are responding to the Revos,ABU is the leader in this current design and low profile.

All I have to compare it to is a Citica 100DSV.  I'll snap some side-by-side photos when I get a chance.

You got that right.....Abu has been smokin' the other reel companies since the Revo's came out. She-mano HAD to do something.....

fishing user avatarSpeed Worm reply :

Go fish it and tell us how it performs!

That's too beautiful of a reel to be so clean. Go get some fish stench on it!  :)

fishing user avatarTop reply :

that is one nice looking reel... I am envious of you beyond words...

Where did you order them from?

fishing user avatarmattm reply :

I'll wait until I see the reel in person, but my first thought is that I don't think I like the green at all.  I suppose it could just be the way the green is coming across on the computer.  Is it the same green as the old Curados.

Plus, I'm bitter b/c I purchased 3 "NEW" Curados this spring.  Bad decision.

fishing user avatarferryman reply :

Possibly best bang for the buck . . . but I go to my TDZ103 and Pixy more often than my STX . . . and I believe they were around before the Revo; not?

I am glad the Shimano guys finally get to be excited about some eye candy.  I really wanted a Core but they don not make them for lefties.  :'(

The paint on this thing is sick.

Size-wise, I would compare it to the Revo Premier.  Very low profile, palms quite nicely.  The addition of the power paddles was quite welcome.  Some offset in the handle would have been nice, as would have bearing supported handles.  All in all, from a purely aesthetic perspective, it's a kickass reel.

Compared to the Citica 100DSV (same frame as Curado 100D), it is smaller and lighter.  Not the best photos though...

fishing user avatargrimlin reply :

That reel looks sweeter than i thought it would.

Now comes the hard part...saving money for one.

fishing user avatarghost reply :

Actually the Core does come in a left hand version in 6.2:1 gear ratio.

http://www.***.com/descpageRLCSHIMANO-SCOCR.html

Would like to get one, but I'm quite happy w/ the chronarch 101 that I have.  Also I'd rather have the 201E Curado when it comes out than the Core....which I don't like the price.

fishing user avatarSpeed Worm reply :

I guess this reel creates love/hate reactions in people, kinda like Scions and Crocs. I personally do not like the aesthetics of this reel, but I'm still going to purchase 3. It all comes down to performance. I am awaiting reviews from BR.

Btw ... Curado Green and Carrot Stick Orange. Interesting combo! :) It matches your avatar colors Burley!

fishing user avatarmike bat reply :

well i have to give it up shimano did a bang up job ,,, its about time they made a reel that didnt weigh 10oz ... aside from that the green is SICK ... i wonder how one of those new cu s would look on a new croix legened extreme or legened elite ???,, i bet they would make a sexy couple ....

fishing user avatarMicro reply :

Those are pretty good pics, Burley.  It does look lower-profiled than the Citica.  I'm interested in seen one in person.

I'd like to here how it casts light baits.

fishing user avatarAaron reply :

Sharp looking reels.  Have you handled the Curado D's?  I am just curious how hey feel compared to the D's.  I know there is a size difference but other than that do these feel like better reels?

I like the Curado D's and probably won't get one of these unless they are just that much better.  I will get a Citica though.

fishing user avatarBassaholic84 reply :

Looks sweet planning on buying one this winter for next year.  Want to hear some reviews and hold it first

fishing user avatarB-o-b reply :

Those are nice pictures. That reel is lookin' good.

fishing user avatarDeputy Dave reply :

Got mine yesterday....Fished with it last night in a local tournament. I was kinda hoping I wouldn't like it alot more than the 5 Revo's I've bought this season but guess what???? Its AWESOME!!!

Caught a 2.7lb and another just under 2lbs. (got smoked in the tournament but love my new Curado) Put my new reel on a Kistler Magnesium 7ft heavy action. The reel balanced great and sits lower to the rod than my Revo Premiers and STX's..

Anybody want to buy a bunch of almost new Revo's????

I like the Curado D's and probably won't get one of these unless they are just that much better. I will get a Citica though.

The E is over 2 oz lighter and $20 cheaper. Those are two great pluses.

fishing user avatarJare reply :

I think (I hope  ::) ) this reel will be better than the Metanium XT (Chronarch).

Just one question, are they "made in Japan" or "Malaysia"?

Look at the fourth pic down on the first page carefully.  My guess is Japan which is a big plus IMO.

fishing user avatarburleytog reply :

Spent about 30 minutes out with it this evening.  The VBS doesn't seem to be as effective on the 200E7 as on previous models.  I love the extra-open design around the spool.  Made tying onto the spool very easy.

Casting, other than some VBS issues, was nice.  Love the bigger knobs on the handle.  Hopefully the new Citica will come with the same handle and knobs.

After 30 minutes, I'm sold.

fishing user avatarBassaholic84 reply :

Uh Oh and what were these vbs issues?  Im planning on getting the 200 and 300(for swimbaits)

fishing user avatarburleytog reply :

Nothing wrong with it, the VBS just doesn't seem to be as effective as it is on my older Shimano reels.

Wore out in 30 minutes? Hmmmm.....

fishing user avatarburleytog reply :

Perhaps not broken in yet.  I'll probably head to the lake one morning this week and give it a good 3-4 hour workout.

fishing user avatarBigGame0892 reply :

Hey, thought I'd weigh in here as well guys since I just received my first E7 today.  Spooled it up quickly with Yozuri Hybrid (15 lb.) and went out to the lake.

Previous comments about the VBS I think are pretty right on.  I wouldn't consider myself the absolute best with a baitcaster out there, but I did notice a difference between the new E7 and my Curado and Citica Ds.  Overall, after about 2 hours with it, I found that in general you have to engage more spool brakes than you might have with the Ds.  (Don't have any experience with the Bantams unfortunately).  For me, that meant going from my usual 2 brakes on, up to 4.  I was apprehensive about having so many on - but found I didn't lose any noticeable amount of distance - and the reel performed superb - backlashes were now non-existent.

Once perfectly adjusted, this reel casts beautifully.  Roll casts and pitches seem to come off more smoothly than with Curado Ds - probably somewhat due to the much lighter weight I suppose.  And it palms so easily.  I really like how Shimano preserved the wider spool access you were afforded in the Ds rather than getting narrower like a Zillion, Revo, or BPS reel.

This thing is superlight and performs in almost every aspect as well or better than the Curado Ds (at least thus far).  Caught a 5lber. pitching into thick brush - winched her out without a problem.  You get exactly the drag performance you would expect from a Shimano.

Overall, a great reel and a good price point.  Can't go wrong with Shimano as usual.

Just as an aside, I have it paired up with a BPS elite 7 footer MH.

fishing user avatarshimanogloomis man reply :

I fished my e7 today and shimano has a real winner for 180.00 bucks... :)

First off is the color when u fish this reel its the most bad@ss colors iv seen imo..when the suns on the reel its greenish to scorpion red to brown colors hard to discribe but cool looking..i fished it today using a 1/4 oz tugsen weight with a beaver on my bcr854 glx pitches very well very comparible to my mg7...comes off spool very easy.. as for the vbs system same thing to me as all my other shimano reels set once and dont have to touch it i use 2 brakes out the rest in...i love the over sized grips very nice and comfy...drag smooth like my mg7 and calais...reel is slighty wider but lower profile more like a abu stx...I had a bsf 200 and this reel blows that away in every aspect imo..all in all shimano did one heck of a job i would recomend this reel to anyone thats looking for a reel in the 200 range...

fishing user avatarTop reply :

*sigh* now I will just be glad when us common folk can pick it up at BPS... they really missed the pitch on this one... :)

fishing user avatarSawyerOB reply :

I just got mine today and plan on testing it tomorrow, I will be sure to let you know any pro's/con's I find.

fishing user avatarSpeed Worm reply :

Has anyone given the reel a go at flipping/pitching/rollcasting? In these techniques I generally set 4 of the brakes on (2 more than normal) and set the spool pretty free to release line fast.

If the VBS is not that effective, does it mean that you have to turn all 6 brakes on in order to flip & pitch?

These last couple days iv been fliiping with 2 brakes on and 4 off with no problems at all... no manner what thats what i always leave all my shimano reels weather im spinnerbaitin or t rigging or fliiping....personally i dont know what others are saying about the vbs not being efficiant but imo its the same to me as all my other shimano.... reels

fishing user avatarSpeed Worm reply :

How does it handle lures that are 1/8 oz and lighter?

fishing user avatarBrad_Coovert reply :

Yep, I'll be selling off all of my Curados and Citicas and getting all new reels this winter.  Of course, I will be getting reels with the handles on the correct saide of the reel!   :)

I love when new models come out!   8-)
