Get em before there gone. Cant beat it for the price.
.....and you saw the bargain prices where? Some folks might be interested in that info...
For those that missed the news on the first go-around last year, the Rage rods have been on closeout in the St. Croix bargain room for months. $89 with free shipping - a good deal indeed. I got two Rage rods for that price last August. They still have a fair selection of casting rods left but the spinning rod selection is down to two models.
FWIW
Last spring, I bought 3 Rage rods for $200 while I was at the St Croix outlet store in Park Falls WI.
I bought one from the Bargain Room on the St. Croix website at that price a few months ago too, but then saw somewhere that you can get an even better deal on multiple rods if you call.

Good to know about the multiple rod deal. I'm personally just about "Raged-Out" now but other folks could get a good deal...
Cabela's recently listed the St Croix clearance rods in their Bargain Room, but the prices aren't $89 flat on all models if you bought directly through St. Croix, they start at $89 and go up depending on Rage model.
Story time......................back when my rod arsenal was all St Croix rods, I had a couple Rage's (along with Mojo's. LTB's, and Avid's) fast forward a few years, and getting into custom rods, I liked the reel seat and guides on the Rage so much, that I have my custom casting rods built with those same Pac-bay minima guides and minima reel seats. the handles however, not a fan, and I have my builder use split cork grips/no fore grip, shaped and contoured like the 2nd generation split grip LTB rods.
I bought a casting and a spinning for $89 each when they first went on sale back in the summer. Both rods still have the tags on them but it was too good to pass up.
You guys are not helping here ~ at all.
The RC76MHMF 7'6" Med-Heavy Power Mod-Fast Action 12-25# 3/4-1 1/4 has been screaming "Buy Me" ever since St Croix started this sale.
Well, I Just Couldn't Take It anymore . . . . The $89 bucks and free shipping was TOO MUCH !
They even threw in a Free Hat - I think it was the hat that actually did it.

Well, I wish Big O would respond. I think this might be the ONLY rod he owns, but he owns a few!
Gotta wait til pay day to order one grrrrrrr hopefully the 7'1 medium fast casting is still there for soft plastics. Broke my uman black this weekend and I'm bailing on that company

Perfect - Now if I could just boat a few like that guy ~ I'd really be doing something.
A-Jay
He just gets lucky now and then.
BTW, he doesn't own ANY hard baits either...Imagine that.

I bought that rod in August and used it quite a bit in the late summer and fall. Seems to work, catches fish. It fishes exceptionally well at the heavier end of its weight range and handles this bait (which I think you will recognize) with no problems...

It seems like he caught a LOT OF BIG BASS on the 7'11" mod-fast Rage rod (which I have as well but obviously don't use it as well as he does...).

LOL ~ I Do Know that bait ~ That's a Dern Perty Bait too.

You are probably right. Big O is a tall man and I am a little "height challenged".

great versatile rod. I have two and they work for smaller spinnerbaits, swim baits, t-rigs and plastics

Sweet ~ That sale is keeping me up at night.
And the Rod Monkey is working overtime . . .
A-Jay
You guys are killing me!! I may be getting a couple of them today, we'll see if they still have the discount for multiple rods when I call later.
I tried to get the multiple rod discount with different rods and was rejected. I was buying a Mojo glass and a second Rage, and was told 'no dice'.
But, I think the original poster of that deal said it was for two Rages, so its certainly worth asking.
I bought one last fall. It is sensitive but heavier then I expected. Love the handle and hate the guides. for 89 it is a good deal But I was more impressed with the new Mojo rods I checked out at BPS

The Bait / Rod / Reel Monkey has greatly enhanced persuasive powers during winter...
I just called and ordered the 6'8" MXF and the 7'1" MHXF. You have to call the retail store, and the rods are $50 a piece with $10 shipping up to 5 rods. My total was $110!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an insane deal omg, do they have anything like this on their Legend Elite rods if you call the retail store
Called in and ordered two. Could not resist for that price.
I got the Avid Neo USA made rod in MHF for 89 bucks and a free hat and I was entered into the St Croix Rod drawings where they will be giving away like a 150 rods or something. Coming out of the closet on this....................I kinda like the handle
I like the handle as well. I especially like it for kayak use. The shorter-than-usual butt makes casting from seated position with a pfd a breeze.
Ordered my rods by phone yesterday and they already shipped. The rep on the phone was very nice and helpful. My Legend Tournament is my only experience with st croix so I'm excited to try these out.
Ok...I've been off the grid for a while. If the Rage rods are so wonderful why are they discontinued?

Probably has something to do with the new Mojos being built on a scIII blank and being close to the price range of the Rage. Also the handle probably turned people off. $50 for a rod built on that blank is an absolute steal though. You can't even buy the blank for that cheap.

Judging by the recent resurgence in popularity, if the Rage Line had been offered at the going rate all along, St Croix may not have made a ton of dough but then again they probably wouldn't have much in the way of inventory either . . .
After recently receiving the RC76MHMF ~ Just ordered a second. When will it all end . ?. ?. ?. ?. .? .

Love the handle on 7'1" mhxf while bank fishing or seated kayak fishing, but I don't really care for the XF action... too bad the MHF wasn't available when I purchased it months ago @ $90. For $110 I'm tempted to buy the 71MHF and 72MM for crank baits...
I have three rage rods the i picked up maybe 3 years ago or so when they had a buy 2 get one free deal going. I have zero complaints....i kind of wish i "needed" another because i would without a doubt get a few. I am tempted to get a 6'10" MXF casting rod to throw weightless plastics to see how it compares to using a spinning rod for this purpose.....

Ship it to them and they will replace it. I've done it 3 times already.

It was a combination of the aesthetics, neoprene handle and price point. A lot of people complained about the micro guides being just like lightning rod guides, which while they look similar without ceramic inserts is not correct. The $149 price was too close to an Avid or Avid X and there were many other micro guide options available for less. I bought 3 rage rods before they went on clearance and so far two more since they dropped in price. I really like the handles and the overall performance and feel of the rods. I like the feel and price point of the new Mojo bass rods as well and will probably pick one up (if I dont buy more rage rods). I'd like to see them make some of the mojo's available with micro guides.
I wish they would have trimmed some of the threads on the reel seats.
^That's really the only negative thing I have to say about them as well, all the extra plastic threads from the reel seat sticking out on the top part. I have seen this on a few other St. Croix rods as well, but not on the higher end rods. Overall the build quality seems pretty good, and I like the feel of the rod. Only thing left I have to do is to get a reel and try it out, when the ice disappears.

It will end after you buy up the rest of their inventory

I was wondering what is the difference between the Avid Neo one and the regular Rage rods?

IIRC, same rod, only the Avid Neo was branded differently for the European market.

And the Neo was built in-house. The Rage was built in Mexico.....if that makes a difference.
Yep. Otherwise, it's the same stick.
Got 4 for me and 4 for my father. Haven't had them on the water yet but they seem nice. Don't know if they'll actually fit in my lineup but it doesn't hurt to have an extra set of rods. No better rod out there for $50 a pop. Add in St. Croix's warranty/upgrade plan and it's a win win.

Yep the NEO is built in house in the USA says it right on the rod. Right along with the Extremes , I hope some of that quality rubbed off..........LOL
