Tell us what you think of your E6X.
I suppose the E6X isn't popular ........................ I've read 21 reviews online. Only 1 out of the 21 was negative, Guy broke two of them, G Loomis replaced without issue.
This rod was voted best at iCast 2015..... ?
I have the ML E6X Dropshot rod and like it alot. Great bite detection and sensitivity, plenty of control over bigger fish, and light.
I've considered buying one to pair with my Sustain. I'd like to see what people say.
Following this thread....
I have the spinnerbait rod and so far it's been great. Not sure I could ask more of it! It feels great in hand and looks good too. I have a Shimano Scorpion 1000 4x4 on it and that combo is a spinnerbait machine.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy more E6X models.
Been contemplating an e6x or a zodias but side by side the e6x feels like a lot heavier rod. The zodias feels good but still a toss up. Will get one or the other soon
I love e6x my crankbait rod, 7'1, medium with moderate fast action. Have paired up with Curado 5.4:1 reel and rarely lose fish with it. Great action. However, I never usd another dedicated crankrod to compare it with, but its great for crankbaits.
I have 3 e6x rods. The mh cranking Rod which is great. Also have a 843 MBR I throw spinnerbaits, swim jigs and keitechs on. Just picked up a 6'8" spinning Rod to skip docks and swing grubs with. Haven't had a chance to spool it yet. They are great rods. Lightweight and balance well.
I mean, they're fine. Good, not great. Warranty is solid. Really hard to say no to the Zodias at the same (or slightly lower) price point.

My feelings exactly. I don't need another rod but I sure want one. I picked up an e6x about a month ago but heading to the register I passed by the phenix rack and ended up with another phenix. If they would have had the zodias it would have made the trip home also I'm sure.
I got the 6'8" M spinning version and it's been my tube rod for the past month or so. Like Cgrinder said, it's a good rod, but its not great. A little heavy, but not too bad. I feel like for the money, there are a few other better options out there.
I agree that I think the Zodias is more rod for the money, but you are limited to Fast and X-Fast with that line.... Love my Zodias Rods though

The Zodias does feel lighter for sure. I like those too. I am going to get the 6'8ML spinning rod for sure. That is a sweet rod. It's true the E6X isn't the best rod on the market or the best rod you can get from Loomis but it's a solid rod. I am kind of sucker for technique specific rods even though I realize that actions, power, etc can be exactly the same in a rod that isn't specifically labeled for any specific purpose. Mainly I wanted a new spinnerbait rod that was Loomis without the high price tag and I liked the looks of the rod. After reading the Tackle Tour review I was confident that it would be a good rod. I was right, it's been a great spinnerbait and jerkbait rod. It's not the lightest rod I own though. They aren't as light as other Loomis rods I've had but it's not heavy either. Very comfortable to fish with. I don't think you can wrong with either rod. There are a lot of good ones in that price range for sure! You can probably get a Zodias or Adrena for less than $199 on Ebay. I got my Adrena for $150.

Where did you get an Adrena for $150? That is a $400 rod Shimano made with Jackall!

I got it on Ebay. I picked up the 7'H Swimbait rod. It's a sweet little rod and super versatile. Put a few on your watch list and swoop in at the last second. Mine ended at 153. I was surprised that I got it that cheap too. Looks like it's not uncommon to get them under 200.

That warranty is what you're paying for. They're just okay. The guides aren't anything special whatsoever. For that kind of cash one could do much better.

From what I've seen and held it seems the lighter action rods
are far better balanced than the heavy.

The guides are a bit disappointing. I'd still look at the E6x rods if I had to buy a crankbait rod and was not allowed to purchase an Orochi XX.
On that note, everyone go buy a Flat Side Special. Trust me, you need one. Maybe two.
I bought the 894C E6X about 3 months ago. Use it for jigs and c-rig fishing.
As you would expect it's not as crisp as their IMX or GLX line but overall it's a decent rod. Like others have mentioned, it's a bit heavier than Loomis' other offerings but I suppose we should expect that. No issues with the rod at all, guides seem alright, cork is typical Loomis quality and balances well with 200 Chronarch.
Would I buy another one? Yes.

I have a Zodias and it's one of the best rods I've ever used. It just feels really good. The reel seat is the most comfortable I've ever used.
Here's a good review of one....
http://www.fishhound.com/content/shimano-zodias
I'd like to see what the reviews would be like if this exact same rod was made by a different company.
I have 2 I bought on sale at cabelas right when they came out, mbr843 and a 852s. They are decent rods, but I think there are better rods out there on this price range. Of the 2 I like the 843 better. It balances better and is a good spinnerbait rod. The 852 is pretty tip heavy, and I've yet to find a great use for the rod.
I've been wanting a zodias. You say it's the best you've used what other rods have you usedOn 10/9/2015 at 1:43 AM, Preytorien said:I have a Zodias and it's one of the best rods I've ever used. It just feels really good. The reel seat is the most comfortable I've ever used.

They do look nice, I must say. Almost looks like an MS-X blank. Pretty much a Shimano Tatula, I imagine. Maybe with a little Zillion thrown in. I'd definitely take a Zodias over an E6X any ol' day of the week.

That's a very encouraging review. If I wasn't looking for a new crankbait rod I would probably have one of these come Saturday. There is a local shop that has them in stock but they say they are not selling due to the warranty. I believe they said it was only a 1yr warranty.

I've used many other Shimanos, a few St. Croix,, some Fenwick spinning rods, a couple BPS brands (great rods for the money), used one All-Star, and some nice Berkeleys.
Of the ones I've never tried, G. Loomis IS one of the brands, so I can't compare them side to side. But as for a thumb up for the sensitivity, quality, and comfort of a rod, the Zodias is the best I've had in my hands thus far.
Question for you guys.. This is a very interesting forum..
From what I can tell, everyone is basically saying this: They would rather go with a Zodias because it looks better, rather than a E6X?
Gloomis E6X is made in the USA: Does this matter to anyone?
Shimano Zodias is made over seas: Does this matter to anyone?
Also you guys are aware that Gloomis is owned by Shimano right?
Just trying to get a feel from everyone. Both rods IMO are great feeling, but one is definitely a "american made look" and one is a "JDM look".

I bought it since my first impression holding them in the store was because hands-down the Ci4+ reel seat was by far more comfortable. I'm not really hung up on looks, but I would say both rods look nice in their own ways.
While Shimano owns both, the G Loomis warranty is obviously better as it's lifetime, so take that as you'd like. The Zodias is my first 1-year Warranty rod from Shimano, all my others were the older gen with lifetime.
I'm all for jobs and profits being in the states, I'm not getting into a regional production debate, but you almost can't purchase everything in the US, this time it included my rods, reels, lures, line, etc....I can't find many that are completely produced end-to-end in the CONUS.
They certainly have a regional look - again, both look sharp in their own ways.
Point being.....hold the rods in your hands, take your reel with you if you want...try them out in the store if possible....buy the one you feel best about
That said....in the future will be a custom that Batson would make for me. I'm interested in the MicroWave guides for my spinning rig. That's a way off though.
I do look at the American made factor being a union member and local vice president I see the drastic decline of American industry first hand. I do buy American when applicable. I also know what feels better to me when it comes to rods and the zodias feels better hands down. This is just my opinion. I like aspects of both rods for different applications,it's the main reason I haven't purchased either yet. I like the jdm look but it doesn't dictate every rod purchase I make. I am glad you brought these points up though. It's food for thought. I think the e6x rod is g-loomises attempt to appeal to the everyday angler. Most average anglers will not pay 300 to $500 for a rod in my area. I myself included. I limit myself to around a $200 rod budget so an nrx is not in my future. They have to compete globally hence the lower price option. Well enough of the serious stuff. Crank bait rod e6x probably. Bottom contact goes to the zodias.
Im in the same boat, looking for a rod that i can use for spinner baits mostly from 3/8 to 3/4 also like to used this rod for spooks and maybe a jerk bait. i prefer the smaller rods and the 6 6 version so i can have more control of the lure and i prefer the shorter fore grips so im not hitting myself with it. any suggestions???
i like that g loomis has the warrently does st croix? what type and and kind of rod would you suggest along with reel? i always thrown spinning gear and making the translation to casting
e6x
bronzeback
avid
imx classics?
kvd quatums
duckets????
I own several gl2's gl3's and a and a glx , I like them all I do plan on picking up an imx soon , have all of them paired with Lews reels love the combination .....

Youd be missing out if you didnt get one. I got two for 40% off (only reason i got them). Anyways i got a 7' mh crankbait rod and a 7'5" heavy flipping rod. The crankbait one is great for ripping rattletraps in grass and can even handle those big deep divers. Absolutely a great but and i will be slowly but surely switching my rods to g-loomis.

I got to borrow my friends zodias spinning rod paired with a stradic CI4+ And with a Texas rigged bait I could literally feel every pebble and every piece of structure. Most sensitive rod I've ever held. Looks sweet too haha

I understand the costs that are involved, but there is a definite split between an american made rod vs JDM looking rod. Just trying to get feedback from the users on here.

Seems like the rods are Looks vs performance

Do you know which model he had paired with the CI4+? M or MH?
A guy at work was telling me I needed to check them out so I did.... I was very unimpressed. The balance alone was enough to ignore them as an offering. I have a half dozen same price or cheaper rods that balance better and are lighter.
No thank you.

Just curious was it casting or spinning rod?

It was a casting rod, green with cork handles at bass pro shops.
Wow! So I am on the opposite side of things. I took my reel in with me to the tackle shop and put it on the e6x and zodias. I walked out with the e6x with little hesitation.
I'm in no way saying that the zodias is a bad rod and that you should not buy it, but I was specifically looking for a dropshot rod to use on Lake Erie and the e6x had the exact action I needed - 6'10" mag medium.
The cork grip on the e6x I have was much better than the plasticity feel on the zodias in my hands, and with the amount of times I find myself in the rain I also felt that grip would be slightly better. Something about plastic and fish slime that made me feel like the odds of it slipping out of my hands and resting on the bottom of the lake were higher.
Now cosmetically the zodias would have been a no brainer since the color scheme matches the colors of the Daiwa Fuego spinning reel I have, but this is a case were I had a very specific need and decided to let function win out over fashion.
So far I've been as happy as can be with my selection.
Good luck and tight lines!

you will LOVE that rod for that... I broke mine in back in September on Erie and left a believer.

I really do love the rod. I've caught a few 3 and 4 pound bronzebacks, and was able to control them very well. I am looking forward to seeing how it will handle a 5+ pounder when I can locate one. LOL!

I located a couple when i was up there and it did just fine
Whats the difference between these and the GL2's ?
Bringing this back for an update. The version 2 E6x rods are fantastic. Newer smaller lighter guides, better balanced, and lighter overall.
the MBR in the series are killer.
My first step into paying for a bit of a higher end rod was an e6x walleye version. 6’6” medium fast. That rod is everything I could ask for. It’s lightweight, it balances literally perfect with ci4+ stradic, been very strong and durable yet surprising sensitive. I preferred it over my avid x which I picked up shortly after. I’ve fished the e6x 845c cbr as well and was very impressed for the money its a solid cranking stick.
Shortly after i worked my way up, imx Pro’s, glx’s and nrx’s. I just love a loomis rod!
that being said after spending seasons with the avid x, and e6x side by side and having never fished the zodias, I believe the zodias might be the better. I prefer my expride over my imx pro’s and your saving a couple bucks. I think the zodias and e6x are probably the same thing.
I have the gen 1 E6X, an 853C. I like the action of the rod, but the balance and overall weight isn't great. It is not as sensitive as other rods in that price range either. Just kind of feels dead in my hands. I think the best (just my opinion) rods in that price range are the new Megabass Levantes.
