Hey guys, since I am still new to bass fishing, I would like to know what type of set up you guys are using for finesse bass fishing.
Include:
Thanks!
This is what I use now, 7'3" medium fast(feels xtra fast), chronarch ci4 3000 size reel, 8lb p-line flouroclear. Gonna be used for shaky heads, weightless senkos, wacky rigs, and drop shots
St. Croix Avid X, 7' ML Fast, spinning rod. Quantum Smoke SL25XPTIA..BX2 reel. 10 pound Suffix 832 braid
Rod: Cousins Tackle Raze 701S - 7' Light Power, Fast Action. 4-10lb
Reel: Shimano Sahara 1500
Line: 6lb Seaguar Invisx fluoro but thinking bout switching to 10lb or 15lb braid to FC.
Love the setup overall, kinda want a new reel but not a lot available in that size.
Rod- G Loomis NRX 872s Reel- Shimano Stradic FJ 2500. Line- Sunline SX1 16 pound braid with a Sunline Sniper 7 pound fluorocarbon

Switch over to braid to fluoro leader it's amazing. I recommend either the 12 or 16 pound Sunline SX1 to which fluoro you want.

I think I'll have to. It's getting super hot already and hate not being able to leave it in the car without the line going down the tubes.

I have an NRX and found SX1 to be EXTREMELY noisy with the recoil guides. I settled on Smackdown and have never looked back. It's thinner and quieter by a long shot. Just my .02 though
DX701SF/Ci4 2500/6lb. fluoro
DX702SF/Ci4 2500/8lb. fluoro
I also will use 14lb. YGK braid to fluoro leader once the weeds get thicker.
Two of my dropshot set-ups.
Rod: Custom St. Croix 5S610MLXF extended to 7'
Reel: Shimano TwinPower 2500HGS
Line: TufLine XP 15# with 6# fluoro leader
Rod: Custom North Fork Composites DS610 IM
Reel: Shimano Stradic CI4
Line: PowerPro 8# with 6# fluoro leader
No pics but I use a Shimano Stradic Ci4 2500 on a Shimano Cumara 6'8" MF spooled with 20# PP with a 10# fluoro leader.
Pinnacle Perfect7 - 7'1" ML fast
Okuma Inspira ISX20B
24lb. Gliss no leader
7' 2 piece ML/F Avid X
Stradic FK 1000
10lb power pro
6lb floroclear leader (may switch back to 6lb cxx)
When I need to toss the really light baits (1/16 to 1/4 oz) I use a Saros 1000 with a Custom Phenix K2.
Lew's Team Gold and Powell Endurance 7'1" Fast with PowerPro Braid
Dobyns DX HP 742sf
Shimano Stradic ci4 2500
Sufix 832 braid - 10lb test - neon lime
Yo Zuri Hybrid leader - 4 and 6lb test (which actually break at 7-10lbs.)
---------
Dobyns DX 742c
Shimano Chronarch 51E
10lb Invisx flourocarbon
---------
Dobyns DX 703sf
Shimano Sustain 2500
Sufix 832 braid - 20lb test - green
Yo Zuri Hybrid leader - 6 and 8lb test
I have several "finesse" combos, but my favorite would be;
6' 10" ML/XF St. Croix LTB
30 size Pfluegar Supreme XT
24lb Gliss to a 6-10 pound leader
My last finesse setup, building a new one...
Megabass Super Criffhanger X7 6'3L
Megabass Zonda 68L
Floroclear 8lb
I'll play!
6'8" mxf avid
saros 2500
10lb pp with a long leader of 6-10lb fluoro (trilene 100% or sniper)
For me that's a 2 combo equation.
First up is my 7'1" MLXF spinning from THE COMPANY WHICH SHANT BE NAMED. The reel is a Stella FW2500S and I use 8# Gliss on it. I mostly use this for finesse jigging stuff, small tubes and small jerkbaits. Ned rigging, drop shotting, trick darters, biffle-o's, that sort of thing. Extremely versatile though, I am never without this combo! It can just put a bait anywhere water can be.
The other is an NRX 852c with a Daiwa/Megabass Ito Ai and 15# Smackdown. I use the extra backbone in this combo for hammering home t-rig hooks on weightless worms and craws around the edges of heavy cover mostly. It is ultra lightweight and very accurate to cast weightless baits long distances but has the muscle I want for contact baits and single hooks too. Kind of like a "best of both worlds" setup.
The NRX I consider a finesse combo only because of what it's primary function is and how I've got it set up. I am primarily a finesse fisherman though, so these two are my most-used combos.
Loomis GLX 843C MBR casting rod, Chronarch 100SF reel spooled with 20# braid. Sorry no picture.
Mike
No pic at the moment but my finesse rig is my spinning setup:
7'1" M/F rod from company not to be mentioned
Lews Tournament Pro Speed Spin 300h I think reel
15 pound test hi vis yellow power pro braid
Either 8 or 12 lb test seaguar red label leader
This setup covers my weightless t-rigs, wacky rigged plastics, drop shot, ned rig, mojo rig, and some very light minnow sized cranks from rapala that I can't seem to throw on a baitcaster without back lashing to the moon.

Megabass Super Criffhanger X7 6'3L
Megabass Zonda 68L

Now that´s what I call a real kickazz setup.
I can´t post pics of my setups, I don´t have any and I´m lazy about taking pics,

GraphiteLeader Bosco GLB602ML
GraphiteLeader Veloce GLV602ML

Daiwa Revros 2004

So post your finesse setup -----> Whut ?!? you only got one ? why so few fellas ?
Other than what was already shown(which is all really nice). Do you guys know any good casting finesse setup that is good for Texas rigging and worms?
Abu Villian 6'9" ML with a Shimano Solstace 1000
St Croix Mojo 6'10" MLXF with a Shimano Stradic FJ 2500

Nice, interestingly I eyeballed the PX68 for a while but never pulled the trigger, I went for the Zonda 68.
I have four.
Two 7'6" Phenix UMBX M/F. I use one for drop shotting and the other for Neko.
Megabass Orochi XX Shaky Head for scroungers, Ned, and shaky heads.
Lamiglas Infiniti 723 for weightless plastics which I consider a finesse technique.
My favorite finesse setup:
Shimano stradic +CI4 3000
Fenwick aetos 7' medium
Yozuri hybrid 8lb
Shimano Soare CI4+ 2000HGS (JDM)
Shimano Expride 6'4" Med-Light Med-Fast
Dobyns Fury 702
Stradic FJ 2500
10lb pp braid/6lb fluoro leader
This thread really just reminds me how bad I want a 6'10" Megabass Destroyer Racing Condition Fullhouse.

Sure thing, want to buy me an early birthday gift by chance? It's likely only a matter of time, but thankfully seeing one isn't a daily occurrence/temptation for me.

Are the spinning reels pflueger supreme, supreme xt, and patriarch?

That sounds about right. I think the size range is 2500 for Neko, 3000 for drop shot, and 3500 for shaky head. I could be off one size either way.
The Supreme has caught well over 500 Spots and a good number of largemouth up into the 7lb range and it still runs like a champ. The other two are new for this season so we will see how they do.

I love my supreme 2500 for everything finesse. The supreme Xt looks like a very nice reel also.
Rod: 6'6" St.Croix legend inshore Light

Rod: 6'6" Custom St.Croix legend inshore blank with spiral wrapped micro guides Xtra-light

I use a 6'10", medium-lite Abu Garcia villain spinning rod with a 2500 size Abu Garcia Orra. The Orra is spooled with a 8 pound gliss, usually with a short 8-10 pound test flourocarbon leader.

They're sweet little reels. I found it 60% off at the new F&S in my area. That's cheaper than my sponsorship discount!
You are one lucky man to be sponsored by lews. I will probably get one from TW on closeout. Either the lews or another pflueger spinning reel
My go to finesse set up!
Rod: Fenwick elite bass tech 7'0 m/f
