Just as the title states, what line are you guys using for jerk bait fishing and why? I'm setting up a rod for that purpose and I'm undecided on what line I want. I leaning towards 10# Invisix because it sinks and will help with getting baits down and staying there. I'd like to hear some opinions befor I dump $25 on a spool of line, thanks in advance for the replies...
I use 12 lb Big Game. 1000 yard spool for like 8 dollars.

Same ... And same for cranks too ... Light jerkbaits I use 8lb braid
I like throwing jerkbaits on fluoro. I'd like to try out some reaction fc in 10 lb. Been using sniper in 10 lb.
I use flouro. I'm usually fishing in water with anywhere between 8- 30 feet of clarity, so the low-vis factor is very important for me.
10# CXX
I usually throw em on 12# invisx...but i have been known to go as high as 20#
12 lb mono
20$ braid
12lb Seaguar Invizx fluoro.
8lb tatsu.
20 lb braid, with an 8,10, or 12 lb flouro leader.
#10lb. Big Game Mono because I also use this same set up for top water ... If I used just for hard jerk baits I would use #8lb. to #10lb. InvizX .
Varies. Almost always fluoro. 8-15 depending on conditions, lures, rod/reel used etc. If I had to choose one line only I would use 12lb.
12lb sunline super natural
Braid, usually 10lb. I bump up to 15lb with baits over 5/16th oz. Leaders are normally 8 and 10lb fluorocarbon, around 6 feet long.
10 lb p-line 100%. I have used 8lb sniper and that was good to.
8lb YZH
12# cx for jerks and topwater (baitcast)
8# invisix on spinning gear

I've been running 10lb fluoro the last few years, but am switching to 10lb braid with a fluoro leader this year. Do you tie directly (if so, what knot) or use a swivel?
8 lb Fireline, no leader.
10 lb Super Slick with 10 lb fluoro leader
I asked that a little while ago and got a lot of the same repsponses. I went with 30lb sufix 832. I only went with 30lb over 15 or 20 because i already had a spool of it. I will be using fluoro leader though in the 10-20lb range depending on conditions.
10lb CXX without a doubt
10lb Big Game or Pline C21.
11 lb Sunline Defier baby!! Soooo nice
12lb fluro
Same set up as every other lure type I fish, braid and leader. 10-20# braid, 10-30# leader......both conditions and species dictate the combination.

I plan to try the Sunline Defier Armilo after hearing several member recommendations.
Power Pro (15) with a 8 to 12 fluro leader.

Same here.

No swivel. Tie direct. Uni Knot.
OP: Gereral rule: 8# mono Medium power rods, 12# mono MH power rods. Just ordered some 3000 yd spools of 8# and 12# AN40, and some 350 yd spools of 6# and 10# Excalibur. Will be trying these lines on a few rods this year. Another general rule: I don't limit line choice to specific fishing techniques. Obviously there are some specific techniques where I prefer a specific line, but jerk baits isn't one of them. I will use whatever happens to be on the rod at that time, be it fluorocarbon (rarely), mono (mostly) or co-polymer (gaining).
8# sufix mono, I like the rubber band stretch in this application. When the weeds come in I will switch to 10# seaguar fluoro for better sensitivity (ticking the top of the weeds) and a little more strength.
8lb hybrid and cxx
I throw them on 12# Berkley 100% Fluorocarbon
I use 12 lb or 10 lb Sunline Sniper. Just a confidence thing in that line overall. 8-12 lb mono/co-poly is just fine as well.
For the past several years, I've used 14 lb Fireline Crystal. I prefer a shorter, 2 or 3 foot fluorocarbon leader. I'm happy with this system and for my purposes, it is very well thought out. The shorter fluorocarbon leader tends to drop the nose of the Pointer just a little bit, which I think is good.
The Fireline Crystal stands out well enough, in the waters that I fish. When the jerk bait is paused, on a semi-slack line, the Fireline serves kind of like a strike indicator. I'll always see the line move before I feel the fish and I think that's an advantage.
14 lb Fireline has the mono equivalent of 6 lb line (according to Berkley) so I find this lure/line/leader combo to work better on spinning gear.
So, anyway, that is my current thinking on jerk bait line.
8lb maxima mono
8-20lb Braided powerpro, usually 8lb, always with a 20lb+ fluro leader.
