BPS bound this afternoon with the $200 in gift cards I got from the family yesterday. Didnt have the money for the Veritas rod, so the Citica E is now mounted on a MH Lightning Shock rod I had. The Citica E is now my spinnerbait rig, and the Chronarch 50E is mounted on a MH Sellus rod with 50# Power Pro for my soft plastics. Cant wait to try it out tomorrow.
Great..... Let me know how it works out. I'm likely going to just buy a new Chronarch 51E myself, as I missed the one in the flea market the other day. Getting tired of looking.
Should have gotten an Abu...
You should have got a Lew's TP. I have heard great things about them...
Abu? Lews? What are you nuts? You dont know me too well do you? Lol
I'm just giving you crap for hijacking every thread with "should've gotten a shimano" lol.On 10/15/2012 at 8:33 AM, LgMouthGambler said:Abu? Lews? What are you nuts? You dont know me too well do you? Lol

should have got a Zebco 33. Better track record than your Shimano and its a proven budget reel. It will last longer and out cast your Shimano as well.

Let me know how it works out. I had to return one, then another one. They both sounded like coffee grinders on the retrieve. I exaggerate slightly.
Hootie

Still have mine!
Those new 33's aren't like the old ones
Enjoy!! Give us your feedback
Used it today for a couple of hours. This thing is super smooth. Casts a Gambler EZ a country mile! Soo worth the $200. The drag is soo much smoother than my Curado 50E. Slapped a Hawg Handle on this bad boy and its a workhorse.
I really like the Shimano 50E line. I have three of the Curado 50E's in which I have put ABEC7 SS bearings and they are sweet little reels. I was fortunate in that when several retailers dumped them at the end of the year i was able to get my three for incredibly low prices. I can just imagine that the Chronarch 50E is a really fine reel. I maintain my own reels, so I am able to keep them smooth.
Another positive day of fishing for the Chronarch 50E. Muscled in 2 snakeheads around 7-9 lbs each. The reel is a dream fighting these crazy fish, especially with the Hawg Handle mounted on it. The 50# Power Pro never shed a hair, even with death rolls and entanglements in pipes and cover. I cant wait to get this thing out in the heavy cover of the Everglades and haul out some big bass. Who wants to take me out?
I'd like to see a pic of a 9# Snakehead. Did you take any???
Yes, but on my phone. I dont know how to upload any pictures on this site anymore because the uploader never works anymore. I have other pictures of snakeheads on my camera too, but cant upload.
So are the snakeheads becoming numerous in FL? Do they effect the bass population? Just curious, I did not realize that they may be established down there. However, I do hear they are good to eat.
They have made S Fl a home, and are here to stay. As far as bass population, not a big decline. They are a great sport fish, as they do fight harder. I have seen bass and snakeheads swimming and hanging out very close to each other. In a way I believe they will all have their niche in the chain. They are great eating, not like any fish I have eaten before. People catch and kill them all the time down here. Its fun to get one of the two that guard the frey, and then watch other fish just attack the ball of frey.
Day 3 of using the Chronarch 50E consisted of long casts across the C14 canal. This canal is approx 40 yards wide, and was able to cast a Gambler EZ swimmer on a 5/0 EWG hook and a 1/32 oz weight within 10-15 ft short of the other side. WOW is all I have to say about this thing. Hawg Handle makes this thing retrieve a little faster, and smoother. Using 50# Power Pro, and a Shimano Sellus MH extra fast, makes for a pretty dynamite setup. I might not even bother with the Abu Veritas for a while.
Is the 50E the best of the bunch?
Of my bunch?
Of the Chronarch line. I see they have a few different models. I'm thinking of getting one or a Lew's if I can find a nice lefty model.

Depends on what you're using it for, but their is not much a 50E cant even handle. Unless you need the line capacity (You probably dont for bass), the 50E is just better IMO.
Edit: Im a Daiwa Man myself, but those 50e's have a place in my heart.
I messed with one at BPS again today since all I hear on these boards how good they are. Something about Lew's reels that I really like, so I'm torn between the two. May wait for Xmas to pull the trigger on one.
Yeah buddy!
I've still got that Veritas sitting in the garage. Chronarch/veritas is a nice looking combo.
The 50 is just smaller, and better for lighter baits. The 200 series is bigger and come in different speeds ie the 7-6-5 after is the ratios. On 10/19/2012 at 10:01 AM, TNBassin said:Of the Chronarch line. I see they have a few different models. Gambler, theres a 51e for sale in the flea market..CH-51e? Same reel as yours? I've got a couple tuned curados and have fallen in love. I'm not familiar with the chronarch line however, but I am thinking of picking it up if its a decent model. What do you think?

If it was a turd with a shimano sticker on it LMG would approve
Yes, its the same as what I have only lefty. If you have the Curado 50, its pretty close to the same thing, but a little smoother and refined, and better drag.On 10/26/2012 at 5:03 AM, mod479 said:Gambler, theres a 51e for sale in the flea market..CH-51e? The Chronarch E and Curado E use the same drag pad materials. The ONLY difference is the spacer behind the main gear is now carbon fiber. If you think the Chronarch has a smoother drag, it's because the drag grease is fresher on the Chronarch. Put a vapor thin film of Star Drag grease on the drag pad only, and your Curados will be as smooth as a new Chronarch.
Star drag grease you say? Does it come smaller than 1 gal? Lol
NM, just realized its the Shimano Grease.
It's like $10 for an ounce, direct from Shimano.
Ordered 1oz from TW. $5.99. Plus the $19.99 fitted Shimano hat, lol. Couldnt help myself!
Did you order 2 of each? LOL

Thanks for the instr., I already know how to service, but have just been using a different drag grease. My BPS doesnt carry the Shimano, and dont really shop TW that much.On 10/27/2012 at 12:24 AM, J Francho said:here's your instructions: http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/customer_service0/reel_maintenance_instructions.download.-mainParsys-0001-downloadFile.html/Maintenance%20Tips-%20Baitcasting%20Reels%20%282%20pages%29.pdf
