So... I have a solid base of 50 lb p-pro braid on my Abu Revo S, getting her set up for this spring. This is my first baitcaster, so i am going to be pitching with it mostly, and doing some cranking with it potentially. Paired with a veritas 7' MH, fast action (I realize not a great cranking rod).

What is everyone's favorite brand of Fluoro to use as a leader attached to braid?

I know to match up my diameters, but I have seen a lot of mixed reviews out there on different sites. I wasn't sure if people have a differing opinion on fluoro to use as a leader vs. using it for the entire line. Budget doesn't bother me that much, as a spool should last me a while using it as just leader.

People tend to like Seaguar--Red label was horrible as main like for me but it was cheap and works great as leaders $12 bucks

I have invisx in 15lb on one reel and some like abriasx (spellings might be off) I think I got a spool for 19 dollars

I also have a reel of BPS 12lb fluoro thats been good. The knot strength was pretty good in one of the tests I saw on line

I like Berkley Vanish as leader material however I would never spool it for my entire line.....If I'm going to fill my spool up with Fluoro I use Trilene professional grade 100% Fluorocarbon.

Seaguar Tatsu! I'm trying out the new Berkley 100% Flourocarbon XL and I seem to really like it so far.

Tatsu for all around loveliness, Shooter for bottom contact because it's stiffer.

Anything by Seaguar. I actually like most fluoros I've tried with the exception of vanish.

Last year when i started using FC i went with seaguar invizx and abrazx after reading positive reviews, i had great experiences with both. This year ill be using Tatsu and already have one spinning rod spooled with it, the stuff is extremely manageable.

Fluoro is only supposed to be used as leader material anyway so it really doesn't matter.

If you are mostly pitching into cover with flouro leader, I'd go with Seaguar Abrazx, but Red Label is fine for leader.

As for the person who said Vanish, no offense but NO DON'T go that "ROUTE" , unless you like your fish "vanish".

For most stuff, sniper or invizx

For the thickest, heaviest, nastiest, need all the abrasion resistance and lack of stretch for a fluoro I can, Sunline Shooter. Since I have bulk spools, it will be awhile before I get a chance to buy tatsu which I do wanna try like whoa

Of what I've tried, XPS fluorocarbon.

I've yet to try Sunline and Tatsu. But not sure I'll ever get there as I find coated/infused fluoro+copoly lines P-Line Floroclear and Yo-Zuri Hybrid more than capable in most every situation.

And I'm talking leader material here, not mainline (braid for me). FWIW.

I like the Berkeley trilene 100%. I've used 20 pound as main line for flipping. I fish all of docks and brush piles, trees with it. I like it for flipping and pitching, it's tough as heck.

I know, not to many people have anything good to say about Vanish. When I first decided to try fluoro, Vanish was the one I chose to use. I fished this line for a whole season with absolutely NO problems. Now, a little added info. At the time, I was not on any forums asking opinions. I chose this one at random. I had no one telling me it wasn't any good. So, maybe things of this nature are like the "emperors new clothes". If no one tells you it's no good, maybe it's good. If everyone says the "emperors new clothes" are beautiful, then the naked man is dressed. Just a thought. I now use Seaguar Abrazx and Red Label almost exclusively, but never had any problem with Vanish.

I use Seaguar Red Label. Cheap, effective, and I have had zero issues with it.

You are correct farmer, I meant to include Red Label in that. I use Abrazx on my jig rod and worm rod.

Really how can I not take offense? That was pretty blunt, but since you're a kid I'll take it easy. If you look and search you will see I'm not alone. Plus you don't even "know me" to state your statement.

Yes, Seaguar Red Label is a great line to use. You guys should also try High seas. That's a great line also. I have it spooled on a few bait casters.

I think you mentioned somewhere else that you started as a fly fisherman. Do you have any old spools of 0x Fluoro leader material? Heck go down to Orvis and get a spool of their Mirage 0x to start with. That stuff it great!

I dont have any Mirage leader, but had thought about that. A 70 meter spool of 0x tippet is $36 on the Orvis website. I could probably get some amount off that retail, but 200 yards of seaguar 15 lb is $26 shipped on TW... so that's where I have landed.

I don't have to know you to make a general statement that sometimes human error is to blame for some things that go wrong when your out on the water....Everyone makes mistakes whether they want to admit it or not, and nobody is perfect......that's why you shouldn't take offense to it. Also everyone has their favorite brands no matter if its fishing line, lures etc.....Im sure there are just as many ppl in the world that like Berkley products as there are ppl who like Seagaur so research is really not applicable for anything because its all product marketing and personal preference in the individual when it comes down to it......I guarantee you if you were to rip the names and brands off of all fishing line spools and put them in a pile of all the same color 95% of people would not be able to tell the difference by brand in fluorocarbon lines..... Lastly if your going to criticize something be open and prepared to take some criticism in return.....or don't put any negative feedback out there at all.

I have had great luck with Sunline Sniper. The only problem is I cannot find it around my house with any consistency. Some places will have it one week and not get anymore for 6 months. Others get it in every lb test except what I am looking for.

I have found Trilene XL Pro (new stuff in the red package) is great on a spinning reel. I am tempted to try in on a casting reel once I need to respool a couple reels.

My old faithful is BPS XPS fluoro. Its cheap and works really good. I tried Sunline Super Fluoro. It was ok. Abrasion resistance was decent but it had a lot of memory very quickly.
