Yo-Zuro Hybrid Fluorocarbon 2024

fishing user avatarBrand0n reply :

Heard great things about it. Thinking about picking up a spool in 15lb for all around fishing. I normally fish texas rigs, jigs, spinnerbaits, and occasionally weightless senkos. This a good choice for all around line on a baitcaster?

fishing user avatarIma Bass Ninja reply :

Absolutely!!...I use 12# for all around use and the only negitive thing i can say is that after a while it will get some serious memory (but don't they all?) This is easily cured by some line conditioner..

fishing user avatarA-Rob reply :

How's the stretch factor on the line?

fishing user avatarBrand0n reply :

i always have line conditioner on hand :)

fishing user avatarIma Bass Ninja reply :

Well IMO it stretches slightly less than regular mono...probably not enough to make a big difference..but it does have a greater abrasion resistance than mono..I use it on my crankbait, topwater, and spinnerbait outfits. Actually the only thing i don't use it for is worms/jigs in which case i go with flouro.

It has a pretty high break strength. If I were to chose 15lb in other lines, I would choose 12 in the Y/Z.

Definately less stretch than Mono. More than a high end flouro.

fishing user avataryoungbassman reply :

honestly i use 12 pound for everything it is really good. Like they said make sure you have some line conditioner on hand. It takes a while for it to get some memory though. But actually a really good all around line. Really good for spinner baits.

fishing user avatarBrand0n reply :

i normally use trilene xl 14 or 17lb because its so easy to manage

fishing user avatarJIGFISHERMAN. reply :

You will love it then.

The 12lb will be about the same breakign strength. It will stretch much less, and be much more abrasion resistant than what you are using.

fishing user avatarBrand0n reply :

abrasion resistance would be nice because i throw everything anywhere i think fish could be and i fish deep or shallow and need sensitivity and abrasion resistance and low memory is always a plus

fishing user avatarJIGFISHERMAN. reply :

It will likely have more memory than XL....Should't be a ton though. I have no problems with it on spinning reels even (8lb on spinning-dropping down to 6lb though)

However, XL is about as good as your going to get as far as memory. I just don't see memory as being an issue with casting equipment though. But I also don't use really heavy weight line.

fishing user avatarBrand0n reply :

sometimes when i dont spray line conditioner the night before i head out it gets all unwound when i try and cast and when i use conditioner it casts perfect. it helps big time

First off, Hybrid is not a Fluorocarbon fishing line. It's a co-polymer. It's a combination of fluoro and nylon co-extruded with each other. It's a fantastic line for just about anything. Is it as sensitive as 100% fluoro? No, but it's pretty close. If 100% fluoro is a 10 in sensitivity, Hybrid is probably an 8. Is it more sensitive than standard nylon mono? Yes. It casts wonderfully and handles just as well. It's cheap enough that you can experiment by buying a spool or two without hurting your wallet any. You really don't need anything over 12 pound Hybrid for the majority of your bass fishing. The 12 breaks at roughly 19.5 pounds. As far as the stretch goes, it's right on par with most other lines. It stretches more than some brands, but less than others.

Personally, I don't really think you need line conditioner on Hybrid in 12 pound and under. The 15 pound can get a little unruly though. I could put Hybrid on every rod I have except my heavier braid rods and be perfectly happy in 90% of my fishing situations. In fact, that's what's on most of my rods right now since I'm not fishing a ton at the moment. Give it a try. You'll probably find a use for it somewhere in your fishing arsenal.

fishing user avatardeep reply :

I used 15 lb Yo-Zuri hybrid (20 lb test) most of last season for my small swimbaits (1.5 oz to 3 oz). I loved it and see no reason to change. I'm probably going to use 25 lb for bigger baits (8" hudds and 8" BBZs) this season; or when I run out of 25# Big Game, whichever is earlier lol. No idea about the lower test YoZuri lines.

fishing user avatarPOPRG reply :

As its been said, the hybrid is one tough line! Iv'e straightened a few hooks on a straight-pull snag w/ 15# test!

I went down to 12# last spring on a crank/spinnerbait set up and like it a lot. Don't buy it thinking its a flourocarbon line,

its has more stretch for sure, but slightly stiffer than mono.very abrasion resistant!.. I'm going to try the 15 or 20# on a swimbait rig this year.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

I think you would be MUCH happier with Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12.

In use, #12 has very limited memory or coiling. That is not the case with #15.

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

I find that in cool weather it is a little stiff at first. After a couple of casts it usually limbers up.

fishing user avatarBrand0n reply :

looks like #12 is the way to go for me i do have an extra h2o mettle reel waiting for line and a rod...picking up one of there ethos rods this weekend along with some hybrid line :)

fishing user avatard3bf48 reply :

I am thinking about trying 8lb hybrid (not ultra soft) on my baitcaster for smallies... I will mostly throw small spinners, small cranks and plastics on 1/8 oz jig. Will this line be okay? I don't like fishing heavy line at all but have never tried mon/flouro on a baitcaster. Thanks

fishing user avatarPOPRG reply :

You should be fine w/ 8# test for smallies, this stuff tests out at a much higher breaking strength than whats on the package.

fishing user avatarMrSwimJig reply :

I use both 12lbs and 15lbs test and have not had any problems with either. Just be sure and treat with KVD L&L and all will be great.

You will be fine. I just might fill a 200e5 with 8lb YZ for deep cranking.

fishing user avatarflippin and pitchin reply :

I joined the forum two years ago and Road Warrior and a handful of other members spoke HIGHLY of YZ hybrid. I tried it and now I have it on all my spinning reels and almost every casting reel from #6 to #20. I have yet to break off a fish, not one, in two years. The #8 is crazy strong, #10 is killer for cranks, #12 and #15 handle just about any application and I pitch with #20 90% of the time. The only issue is I buy #20 in the filler spools and not the 1/4 pound to reduce coiling. That still is not a big deal though. My tournament partner only broke off one fish last year. He's a skinny guy but his hook sets break the sound barrier.

fishing user avatarSausageFingers reply :

Hybrid is awesome stuff. I use the 10 and 12 lb test in smoke.

Its a co-poly so it will stretch more than some of the higher end flouros but its manageable and doesn't have a lot of memory.

The price is excellent. I can get 600 yd spools for $13.

fishing user avatarBrand0n reply :

yeah i seen the 600 yd spools are good prices

fishing user avatarAPK62 reply :

How does YZ Hybrid compare to P-Line Fluro Clear?

fishing user avatarBrand0n reply :

p line fluro clear to me isnt that great i got some 12lb on one of my reels. it is stretchy but casts smooth with some line conditioner. i wouldnt buy again im sticking with yo zuri hybrid

fishing user avatarKevinator1 reply :

Hybrid is one of the few lines that you rarely see anything negative about. It is good stuff at a great price.

fishing user avatarPackard reply :

I had some bad coiling on my last 12lb spool. L&L didn't really help either. It is a nice line though and coiling doesn't really affect baitcasters too much. It is a great price though. I never had it break or fray at all with my use. It's a nice crankbait line but I prefer fluoro now.

Mike, are you using regular Hybrid or Ultra Soft on your spinning outfits. I use Seaguar Invisix on my spinning rods now. I am still going to use it for my drop shot but I was wanting to try something new for my tube and darter head rods. I was thinking 6lb hybrid if it is manageable on spinning reels.
