But cheaper than $130 ;-)

hahaha thats right... but as retiredbosn mentions, maybe they have in store sales not advised online... but i didnt know they could have online prices different than in store (other than special sales)

The $99.00 rods have standard guides not micro guides. The Bucoo's with micro guides are $129.00 You got a crazy deal.

and i got it by accident... i was just walking through the rod aisle, without looking at anything in particular, basically cruising to get to the other side, when a yellow rod catched my eye... i recognized it as a Skeet rod, so i stopped to look at it closely, since i had only seen them online.... then, this man comes to me and tells me the Tournament Choice rods lying next to the Skeets were great to have if you needed a rod to lend to a friend or something... i tell him my friends have their rods, and i dont really have a lot of friends who fish, and that i was just hanging around... then he directs me to the Bucoo (i had already walked past them without noticing) and says "well, you may take a look at this ones, they are just $30, originally retail for $130.. i already have one in my cart"... so i checked them, inspected them to see if they had any problem (they didnt), and immediately took the last 2 they had in stock.... so, angels do exist haha

I have a 7' MH and 2 6'6" M one casting one spinning. They are fantastic rods. I would use the 7''er for your spinner bait rod over your Veritas.

even if the Bucoo is M and the Veritas MH??

and in that case, what would you use the Veritas for?? i can always take it back to the store, but, i already have it, so i prefer to put it to good use...

fishing user avatarBASSHUNTER1961 reply :

The Veritas is the perfect Senko/soft plastics rod..... The Falcon you have is great for spinner baits. It's softer and allows the fish to fully take the bait before you try to set the hook, same with cranks.

ok, and between the Veritas and the Falcon Clark Wendlandt MH i also have and am currently using for senkos and soft plastics??

fishing user avatarBASSHUNTER1961 reply :

I would choose the Falcon Clark Wendlandt over the Veritas if that's what your asking....

thanx.

so, if you choose the wendlandt for plastics, and the bucoo for spinnerbaits... what would you do with the veritas??

i think i will be able to decide once i can get to the water with both rods... so far, i have only unpacked them and handled them around in the house, but i have not even mounted a reel on any of those 2 rods yet....

fishing user avatarBASSHUNTER1961 reply :

Keep it for a spare or return it and buy some tackle.

fishing user avatar(='_'=) reply :

well, returning it is an option, but it implies a 3 hour drive... so i would rather put a reel on it and use it for something... now i just need to figure out what to tie to it....

fishing user avatarTNBassin' reply :

So between the Veritas and the Bucoo micro, which one is better? I've got the Veritas and I love it, but every time I see a Falcon Bucoo micro at Wally world it calls my name.

I have fished several AG Veritas rods, and feel the Bucoo is a far better rod. Extemely light and sensitive, and the grip is far more comfortable than the Veritas. The reel seat is much better on the Bucoo as well. I now have 3 Bucoo's and I will be getting a couple more next season. I have a 7' MH casting, 6'6" M spinning and a 7' medium spinning.

you might as well check them out in Academy, maybe they also have it for $30...

is there a problem with the reel seat on the veritas?? i have not put a reel on mine yet, but the "seat" looks different, not like any reel seat i have seen...

unfortunately my veritas and my bucoo are completely different, the first one is 6"9´ MH, the second one is 7´ M, so i feel there would be no real comparison... but i guess each one can have its place on the boat, and hopefully i will land a bunch of fish with each... since i fish a lot of spinnerbaits i think i will be using the veritas a lot, but i also have some cranks i plan on tying to the bucoo as well....

I hate the reel seat on the Veritas as it is not comfortable. It also allows the reel to move side to side, no matter how much you tighten it down. The 7'M Bucoo works very well with spinner baits. The Veritas you have makes for a good weightless worm rod or Wacky rig.

thanx.

this is my first dedicated spinnerbait rod, and i thought i needed a MH for them. i guess i will have to try them with both rods to see what i prefer.

i have never fished wacky or weightless worms, all my worms, or plastics for that matter, are always texas rigged... but im not against trying something new, so i guess i will be doing a lot of experimenting this fall...

fishing user avatarBASSHUNTER1961 reply :

It depend on how heavy the spinner baits your throwing are. I find a medium good to 1/2 oz but step up to a MH for heavier ones. No one rod does it all, as you are finding out LOL..... Sure, you can get 2 rods to do just about everything pretty well, but what fun would that be?

haha, i know, having just one rod for everything would tako out one of the most fun parts of fishing.... and that would be shopping for fishing supplies....

i mainly use 3/8 and 1/2 oz spinnerbaits, but up until now, used a MH rod for all of them... i had good accuracy with it, to put the spinnerbaits in tight spots and send them under overhanging limbs... i dont think i can do that with a softer rod... i know with my crankbait rod i couldnt do it at all... but again, i guess i will have to try both rods and a lot of lures to see what the rods can do....

now, i have a Quantum Code reel that is going on one of the rods, i think the veritas but its not defined yet... what would be a good reel in the $100 range for the other one??

I like Shimano, so I'd be looking for a used Citica E. If you want new, I'd pick up a BPS Pro Qualifier.
