Looking for a "tool" that gives a good cut to braid. Tired of the in-between stuff that frays the line.

i either use my knife or the little scissors i have on a swiss army knife, whichever i have on me when i go fishing.
I got a set of KVD cutters from Walmart that work really well. They're pretty small and were around $10.
You need a sharp nick free blade to get a good cut on braid. I use a pair of rapala braid scissors and the only thing I have ever used them for is cutting braid. If you start cutting other things with a pair of scissors say mono you may end up putting small groves in the blade making it more difficult to cut braid. Maybe a 50 or 100 blade won't have that problem but I don't know. You could also use a lighter to get rid of the frays.

I did see these at Walmart....for the price, worth a try.
Boomerang tool co. Extended cord for tackle bag or belt loop. I have used one for over a year and have been pleased with the longevity of the blades.
Kids Fiskars scissors from WalMart, $2
The Boomerang tool is the best, most convenient braid cutter I've ever used. I have one everywhere I work on tackle or fish.
Boomerang Tool by far. Keeps it's edge after constant use, has a retractable leash and it's lightweight.
You guys talking this little deal?

That's it.

At home the scissors, out fishing a lighter.
i purchased my Boomerang last week from TW. I've heard good things about them. I remember seeing a rep of theirs at BPS last year during the Spring Fishing Classic. It cut through 85lb braid he had like butter.
It looks convenient too. I can't wait to get/use mine.
The boomerang tool works great and so do fiskars safety scissors.
What is with all the metrosexuals carrying snips and such. Get yourself a pocket knife and be a man. Spyderco, Benchmade, Buck, Case, Kershaw all make great knives that will slice enough braid for a lifetime with a few sharpenings.
I have a lot of knives, but when I bought a Spyderco Delica Full Flat Grind with Japanese steel, I quit buying the others. Love my Bucks though too.

So you're that guy with a tackle box full of lures with knots still attached. A sharp rock will cut taut braid if that's all your trying to accomplish.
For a few pennies a disposable lighter works great, also puts a bead on the tag that can help eliminating pull thru.

Don't real men use their teeth on mono?
I usually have a pocket knife on me that makes a quick clean cut. A disposable lighter is great to put a "ball" on the end of the tag so it can't pull through the knot. Another tip with scissors is to use the scissor blade more like a knife than a conventional open an close. Just slide the braid down the scissor blade and it will cut it clean. I've found when trying to cut with most any scissors it gives a "fuzzy" end that needs the lighter to clean it up

Another vote for the Boomerang. I've got two of them now.
I'm probably the only one who uses them, but I use pruning scissors for Bonsai trees. They are fantastically sharp and generally made of quality metal.
I use nail clippers, really helps to cinch the knot down. I just got the kvd splitring pliers though, and they cut braid great.
Used the Boomerang Tool while fishing with someone last season and at the of the day I was convinced that I needed one.
Now I have 3, one in my boat and others in tackle bags. Best cutters I've had.

I think that OP stated something to "cut braid". A sharp knife will do it. And it will cut it off the O rings as well.
I don't use a lighter after tying. Just an overhand knot cynched down to the main knot, just for safe measure.
+1 BOOMERANG

Try an esee izula II with sharpshooter sheath like butter! But my new Gerber fixed blade works fine too. And I got a little buck too, the super small one let me tell you the pins are placed soo nice and the blade edge is picture perfect.

Lol no it is all about blade placement put blade to knot and thumb on other side at an angle. Practice once you get it, lot faster than the snippers lol

LOL if you really think pulling a pocket knife to cut a braid knot is easier than using snips that are tethered to you, have at it. LOL
LOL I'm a knife guy too but use the right tool for the job. LOL
It is a fix blade on the hip or back pocket got tired of the flipping pocket knife lol....now I will admit a 3 or 4" blade is kinda rediculous looking but it works lol and I feel better about myself and that makes me sleep well at night cuz of it lmao.On 1/10/2014 at 9:57 AM, Jrob78 said:LOL if you really think pulling a pocket knife to cut a braid knot is easier than using snips that are tethered to you, have at it. I am just kidding, I just never chose to get on as I am comfortable with my way. Just busting some balls with whippa. lol oh and Y'all's tool does have a neat belt clip lol
Wow! Didn't think I needed to be so specific. Sure, I said something to "cut braid" as one genius pointed out and I know that my Gerber would work just fine. Thanks to those of you who didn't have to go caveman on my question.

One has to remember, there are a lot of girls on the forum. You can't really tell by their handle. So fingernail clippers and snips are pretty common. Maybe even the norm. Don't even ask about hook sharpeners. They use nail files.
My benchmade or bark river knives work fine.

Bark River? Wheewww. Now there is a great customized knife for cutting braid and fishing!
