Went out with my good buddy Dwight Hottle for a week of BS, lies, ribbing, drinking and a little fishing to boot. We fished 6.5 days on famous Erie, with nothing but jerkbaits, and focusing not on numbers but size. My previous PB smallie was 4lb 12oz(twice) and I was determined to beat it........and I did. Last day too. Talk about putting in my work. I caught 49 smallies, 1 stripe bass, 2 goggle eyes, 1 perch (3/4lb PB), and 1 walleye (5.5lb PB), and several dumb dumb heads all on jerkbaits.
And what makes this even more awesome, 14 of my bass were over 4 lbs. Good times, were had, and I look forward to my next trip up!
Now for the pics:
My New PB weighing 5lbs even on 2 scales.....
PB Walleye: (5.5 lbs)
And the biggest Dumb Dumb head: (14lbs)
Thanks to Dwight for putting me on these bass and look forward to fishing again buddy!
Jeff

Awesome outing! Way to get them!
Great job, guys. I love how fat those things are.
Fat bottom bass make the fishing world go round!
Nice going guys. I really like that last picture Jeff.
What a fishery!
Congrats on your success.
WOO-HOO!
Small correction: Your previous PB was 5 & change unless "live bait" doesn't count.
Congrats!

Just re-read this and realized you thought we hired a guide. I flew up and fished with Dwight Hottle in his boat. He is the "guide", but if you ever tell him I thought that highly of his fishing abilities, I would call you a liar! :laugh5:
Jeff
I got cha! You fellers are friends! I got a good laugh outta that..... Still, what beautiful fish!
I still think it was a gold pointer! Lol!
We did use a lot of pointers in different colors and depths, but gold wasn't one of them.
Jeff
Nice brownies! I'm heading out tomorrow to target different brownies in the salt - Cobia. If all goes according to plan, I'll be eating well tomorrow night!
Nice Bronzebacks!!!
Hey guys after fishing with Jeff on my home waters he really is a quick study. The man can work a jerkbait with the best of them. Now if only we could teach him how to bet. Jeff don't forget you still owe me $2 bucks.
That's awesome guys! Nice feesh!

Jeff
I really hope I can fish Erie sometime in my life! All you hear about it is good fishing...
Where does one sign for this Erie trip ? I only live 4 hours away. I used to guide the west side and mile streams for steelhead but ive only ever fished the bay for bass!
