Hey all well I went out to the savannah river doing alittle fishing today the bass were biting somewhat caught 2 and missed a nice one. It was getting late in the day and I was throwing a buzzbait sidearm I go and make a cast I wind back and let it loose as im swinging forward I feel and hear the buzzbait hit something. Then I see my cell phone attached to my bait flying in the air landing in the river. I had my phone attached to the center console bug deflector glass and my buzzbait snagged it. I reel my line up and up comes my bait and my phone, it must of been a 1-1000 shot but I did it. The phone worked for maybe a minute afterward then it shut off Its drying now maybe ill get lucky and itll still work doubt it tho. Hass anybody else ever snagged a phone or something else important while fishing just curious id like to hear your story -Glenn
I recently read where someone got their cell phone wet but it worked OK after it throughly dried out. I'd use a hair blower on it.
Dan
I will let you know how that works out. I put mine in the glove compartment of my boat today while it was raining. When I took it out, nothing was working. >
Take them apart guys and dry them like Dan said. They will work. I went upside down under water on a 4 wheeler (ATV) and had my phone in my pocket. I cleaned all the mud and water out, now it's good as new.
I lost two this year (one two weeks ago) even after taking them apart and letting them dry out ...insurance is a must if your fishin'
When I went camping this summer I fell off a boat with my phone in my pocket. I took the battery out right away and dried it, and it wouldn't turn on. When I got home a couple days later I put it on the charger and it worked. Still using it today.
I know that buzzbaits are famous for calling bass,
but I don't think this is what they meant ;D 8-) :
Ok I took mine apart and blow-ed it out with the air compressor, put it on
charge last night and this morning I turn it on and it worked fine.
After it dries and IF IT works have someone to open it inside and spray it with water displacement fluid and anti corrosion lubricant on the chip pins. If u don't do so , most likely in the future it will stop functioning.

what a funny guy!!!
I fried 2 cellphones in the last year, allowing them to dry did nothing.
I now have a waterproof phone ;D
Last winter I dropped my phone in about 2 feet of water while untying the boat. I had to get the net and scoop it out too, but it still worked fine. All I did was turn it off, and my dad used a compressor to blow the water out. Good luck

Sorry if I sounded sarcastic, but I have done this myself. Many of us have.
It may dry out, it may not, but like breaking rods and loosing stuff overboard, dunkin' cell phones comes with the territory.
Acutually the members are being kind to you, no doubt because your new.
You would have loved the merciless ribbing I got when I tipped over my canoe.
Stick around and you'll have a chance to get even. I'm getting ready to go back on the water after months of surgical recuperation.
I'm bound to blunder.
Happened to me too. It was trout season and I was killing the trout. Had about 7 of em on a stringer and I caught a eighth. As I was leaning down to pull the stringer up and add the eighth trout I somehow dropped the stringer. Anyway I went down to try and grab the stringer, as I was doing this the eigth trout managed to get back in the water, and the stringer was still out of reach. I slid down a little bit further to try and grab the stringer and slid face first down into the river, with my cellphone and cd player in my pockets. The water had to be atleast 4 1/2 feet deep, luckily there was someone walking along side the river who helped me back up, cause it was on a incline so it would have been a real pain tryin to get out without swimmin to the other side of the river. I did get my stringer back though, and lost no fish other then the eigth that fell back in >. I let me cell dry but it never worked the same, the cd player worked though
. I bought a new cell after that happened, and hopefully it doesn't happen again hah.
hey all well good news dried the phone out over night just put the battery back in a few hours ago and it came back on 8-) Hey Avid ya i Know you wernt being sarcastic I laughed at your comment bout the buzzbait calling the bass it was clever anyways ya im sure this could of been a bashing post for the new guy but no 1 did...yet. It was jus amazing how my hook caught the leather case of the phone and slung it out into the good ol savanah river and even funnier I reel my line in and my phone still attached if i had a video of it i would send it to funniest home videos
tight lines everyone -Glenn
I read (don't remember where) that most cell phones have an indicator inside that will change colors if a phone gets wet. This is so the cell phone companies can or can't honor a warranty due to water damage. Anyone else heard of this? I don't feel like Googling it right now.
yes cell phones have a sticker inside that turms red when wet ....
Mines been in the water and I am still using it.
The salesperson that sold me my phone said that T-mobile phones have a card in them that you can put in other T-mobile phones, kind of like a memory chip. If you have everything saved to the chip and something happens to your phone, you can buy a cheapie T-mobile phone, put your chip in and you will still have all of your info. Don't know how they work after they have been wet though.
Me friend dropped his Chocolate in the water (chocolate the cell phone)
I know the perfect solution for u...
1. take the battery out
2. go home and blow dry it
3. if it still doesn't work, play tackle football with it instead of a football to see if you can maybe put some wires back togather.
4. do a 10 yard punt with it
5. Does it work now? My friends ( Andrew's) chocolate now does!
What a fix huh?
P.S. true story
I accidentally ran mine through the washing machine once before. I did not take it apart or anything I just left it sit. It must have dried out just fine because it still works today. I have since gotten a new one but my daughter still uses the one that I ran through the washer.
My son ran his first 2 cell phones through the wash and no luck in getting them to work. He paid for the next one and amazingly its never been close to the washing machine.
GO BIG RED
I just lost my cell again today >. I look at my waist where my clip is that holds my cell phone, and the friggin clip is there with no phone in it. Somehow the phone must have came out of the clip, and fell. Anyway I tryed tracing my steps back, but with no luck. I then went home and borrowed a friends cell and when I tryed calling it, it instantly went to voicemail (and was not a reception problem). I was wadering a bit to so theres a good possibilty it fell into the water. What can ya do though, I know it'll happen again, thats just somethin we got to deal with as fishermen I guess :'(. I bought a new cell before the day ended and its the same model as the one I lost so im happy. I also bought a different style clip that the guy swears to me won't lose the phone. But I know the phone could be friggin glued to my fore head I'll still manage to destroy it/lose it some day, like I said its just some ugly feature that comes along with fishin heh, hopefully I don't lose or break another cell in a good 5 years. >
.
Ps. I caught a good 3lber so atleast I got somethin to brighten my day up a bit, was missing alot of hits though. I was using a Watermelonred Baby Brush Hog pegged with a small bullet weight and a 3/0 size gamakatsu. Maybe the pegging was the reason of all the missed hits, but its the only way to get through the sticks/pads without problems :-/.
Aqua views come in handy when you drop them in the water... lmao
Usually if the phone is in the water for a really quick time, you can take it apart and let t dry out completely and it will work again. But the longer it was in the water the more damage it might have done and not work, so hopefully it goes back to working.
It sounds like I wouldn't want to be in your boat when your casting
I bought a waterproof box from wallmart a few weeks ago, its big enough to hold an ipod, a few phones, and a camera lol. So far I like it.
