How Much Do You Think It Weighs? 2024

fishing user avatarCPBassFishing reply :

Here is my pb, I think it was 8+ pounds but I didn't weigh it at the time. If you can guess what it weighs I would really appreciate it. I'm hoping its 10 pounds but I don't have enough experience to judge.post-40266-0-64916500-1353439769_thumb.j

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Most "8lb bass" that aren't weighed would come in at around 5 lbs.

I would guess that's about right.

Nice fish!

fishing user avatarSiebert Outdoors reply :

I am not good at guessing but nice fish.

What's about right? 8 pounds? I hope you don't think its only a 5 pounder....no way.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

Let me flip this around, to give you some perspective, while you shop for a scale. How big do you think this fish is?

fishing user avatarCPBassFishing reply :

id put that one at about 5-6 pounds. ^

fishing user avatarDylcook91 reply :

I would say high 4 to mid 5 lber the fish looks long but doesn't seem too have much of a belly on her in the photo. The mouth doesn't really look like that of an 8+lber, look up some bigger fish and you'll see what I'm talking about.

However that is a very nice fish, and just cause it might not be as big as you would hope doesn't take away from it. I wish I hook up with a fish like that these days haha

fishing user avatarBassmanDan reply :

I would say 5 to 6 because of the body. It takes more mass to make a ten pounder. Look at the length of this fish, yet it only weighed a little over six pounds.

And this is what an NC ten pounder looks like. Get yourself a good scale and be ready for the next biggun.

Nice bass CP - you could really help up out here a bit if you would provide your height and height in that photo -

btw - Shimmy should really chime in on this one - he loves these threads . . . .

6lbs. 8 oz. on a certified scale.

I put your fish at 5 tops. Like the others said, it lacks jaw physiology of a fish that has reached 7+ lbs. It's a slob, just not close to 8, let alone a DD. Look at the jaw on this one, a 7 lb. 1 oz. fish:

Thanks for all the replies guys! I was hoping it would be bigger but there's a catch..........that was 2 years ago, when I was 13. I'm hoping its still in there. :D it might be 7+ by now with all the bluegill in there. And I was a good 8" shorter then. I was about 4' 11" as of the time of that picture.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

Nice! Here's my 13 year old with one of his biggest catches, a 3ish fish:

fishing user avatarCPBassFishing reply :

Hmmmmm only a 3. :P hook that kid up with a 6" huddleston weedless trout, that's how I caught this one. I love that bait so much. I have it in baby bass and yellow perch.

It always jumps to the 8 pound mark. Why not 6? Shoot why not a beautiful 5 pounder? What is so wrong with calling a big bass a 5? Where is the respect? The Decency? Fish work a lifetime in many parts of the country to hit 6 and then are insulted because they are just not big enough to be the exaggerated weight. Those poor guys need a support group. They will never be good enough and you wonder why bigger bass don't move too much, only eat at night time away from people making fun of them, are most likely depressed, have a difficult time getting the energy to leave their bed and end up becoming bullies on smaller fish. Until we change as a society of fisherman, this problem of depression and bullying will not change with the 5-6 pound bass.

Your fish is waaaaaaaay too skinny and you are waaaaaaay too small of person to even give it the big proportions. Nice catch, but don't insult someone when they give you an honest weight. Please never make the mistake again. Let's change one fisherman at a time, world peace will follow.

fishing user avatarscaleface reply :

This is an excellent photo by the way.You did not hold the fish out to make it appear bigger.

You've got a very nice bass there, but IMHO, she's not an 8 pounder.

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

See all the chaos that comes from not having a scale?? Remember this and pass it on to everyone that you know or are even acquainted with, even if they don't fish. Save up from your weekly allowance, and buy a battery operated scale. You had a nice fish and then ruined it by slapping an 8 on it.

Wayne, super nice fish,7.5lbs?.Troy, you are funny, you and I have gone head to head and have much respect for one another. CP, listen to this man (Shimmy) he only wants the best from you! Get a scale or when you post a fish without an honest weight, just label it "nice fish last outing.". By the way, that's a nice fish!
