Looking to purchase a few colors of these if anyone has a few.
Good luck, there was one for $55 buy it now on the bay, it sold
Take a normal frog, cut the legs off of it, put a split ring on the double hook right before the hooks split, connect a quality ball bearing swivel to the ring, connect a owner cps hitch hiker to the swivel, screw in the last 1.5 inches of a kietech swing impact fat. Bam!!! A sprinker. I've got about 10 of an made up already!

OMG, just go to eBay and buy the original Tickling Sprinkler and be done with it - it will work just as well. They just didn't have YouTube, HD slow motion cameras and cool music tracks when it was introduced

? What the heck are those things?
Something tells me a bunch of us are going to get backordered from susq

The back end of a Tickling Sprinkler minus the frog body. Run your line through any old frog body or toad, attach to the Helicopter lure and you have a Tickling Sprinkler for probably 1/10 of the price...and no back orders

Already happened, I just checked.
I got a few from Tackle Supply Depot. Used them Friday on day 2 of the Costa on Champlain. In short, it's an awesome bait.

Guy I worked with at Cabela's had a bunch of them, and he killed the fish with them at times. Just goes to show you can catch fish on anything if you believe you will and you fish it enough.
Susquehanna has none all back ordered ......a bunch on eBay going for 85.00 and 2 used ones 120.00 for the pair.......might have to think about selling the ones I have...lol

Anything with Roland Martins face on it just has to catch fish, Right?????
That's the deal right there

As this thread demonstrates, whether it's Roland Martin, Bill Dance, or some Japanese company you've never heard of, it amazes me the speed and degree with which people will chase angling "success" (a.k.a. the next "hot" bait)

Why not? The whopper plopper is a proven bait. This takes it to the next level by being "weedless". I'll buy one to replace my next whopper plopper. They are equal in price and do the same thing.

This bait has taken the fishing world by a storm, but hey, it catches fish, right?
Yes it does.......but mostly SUCKERS from the prices on EBay ...lol

Kind of like every Christmas there's that one hot toy that everyone just has to have and will pay the most ridiculous prices for, then as soon as Christmas is over the shelves are loaded with them. I'll probably try one eventually, but I have plenty of frogs for now!
Well well looks like susq did have them in stock

They did for a minute anyways. Now they're only available for about 3 times retail price on the Bay.

Just got the same notification. Hopefully maybe get it before my days off this week and give it a test run then.
Congrats on not having to pay EBay prices...............

Good Luck.
Let us know how it goes Blue.
Other than a test run is very shallow open water, I'm saving them for a trip south in Nov.
Because YOU KNOW, Old Mr. Piker Tooth Face would love nothing more than to mangle the thing first cast !

Untested, but I was just going through my frog box for an upcoming trip and a couple of them had gummed up legs. I replaced the legs on the popper, but the pointy nosed one got the frankenstein treatment. Be surprised if it didn't work.

There's one on Ebay someone did something similar but put one of the arms of a Double Plopper on the back

I like it - half the guys probably don't even realize what they're buying. Call it a Teckel, put it on eBay and see if you don't get $75 bucks for it
@Tim Kelly dang it you beat me to it! Haha! I'm going to put together my own too, I bet they work just as well

Probably better - lol. Teckel already posted their manufactured tails came out a little too hard and don't spin well on slow retrieves without modifications.
The only thing I think might not work too well is that the body might spin a bit as it's only lightly keel weighted, but it's got a ball bearing swivel, so hopefully all will be well.
Tim Kelly -- going from back to front --
is that
- paddle tail
- owner CPS spring (or something like it)
- ball bearing swivel
- another owner CPS spring (bigger?)
- frog
As a spectator to all this I gotta say its pretty amusing. Fleabay is going nuts. You can buy 8 of them for a mere $750. I think "teckel sprinker" is german for "wait a week and nobody will want it". I love the comparison to the helicopter lure. I got a friend who still blames Bill Dance for the fish he lost on the Banjo Minnow.

Yes to all but the highlighted. I used a bit of wire, threaded through the leg holes and in and out of the back of the frog, but your idea would work just as well, if not better. I put a couple of dabs of silicone sealer in the leg holes, just because.
@Tim Kelly I used an old Scum Frog. No leg holes, the body comes off the hook easily. Much easier to mod
same thing happened when the chatterbait came out, crazy prices held true for a year.

I ordered when it still showed 10+ so I'm hoping it went through but I still haven't heard back. I might give them a call. If mine are back ordered I will probably just cancel it.

Ordered 2 -
One just showed up
Hand written note on invoice indicates 1 back ordered & will ship when back in stock.
So there ya go.
And on a separate note, I guess I never realized just how many talented free lance 'lure designers' were on the BR forums.
Very impressive.

Got 3 sprinkers and 2 honkers in the mail today. The honkers look titillating!
I ordered nine for me and some fishing buddies. I got one the rest are back ordered.
This is my version of it. It is really easy to slide the barrel swivel over the hook secured with silicone tubing.
Sweet............now silicone tubing will be going for 50.00 an inch...lol
I have one in Lemon Lime. I threw the packaging out but I've only fished it once for an hour and haven't caught any fish on it. I'm willing to sell it for $25 tyd if anyone is interested.
I have 5 that came in the mail Wed.

Are you selling them?
+1 on using a Scum Frog.
The paddletail is from a Big Bite Baits Super Shad Swimbait.
Does it spin and plop? Who knows!

Very interesting customization using the belly weighted/swimbait hook.
My initial thought is that the body would move around since it is not pegged to the hook and not very weedless ...
However, now it seems with the way it is weighted that it would run quite well...
Have you tested it yet?
Interested on your thoughts about how the frog swam, was it weedless .....
Thanks for sharing!!

This is a Sebile frog, it is designed with a single hook. The hook pivots up and down.
Thank you for the quick reply.

Well it does indeed whop and plop. Or maybe I should say it "sprinkers". My version has a smaller wake than the authentic version, but that's to be expected as my paddletail is smaller. The tail rotates freely 360 degrees without needing to pop it to get it going. At the beginning of the retrieve on a long cast, the body wanders a tiny bit left and right -- nothing crazy, but noticeable. I'm not sure if that's bad or good or neither. All in all, I expect it would catch fish, and for those without access to an authentic Sprinker, certainly a cheap and easy placeholder until the backorders ship.
Scum frog with the skirt strands cut off as close to the weight as possible
Owner CPS, just rotated into the butt of the scum frog (the plastic is soft)
Ball bearing swivel
Owner CPS
Paddletail (from a big baits super shad swimbait -- the one always on sale at TW)
Do you guys have ideas of baits that have even bigger robust paddletails to slap on the back of these Franken-sprinkers?
I'll see if I have any decent GoPro footage of mine swimming later tonight.

It was posted to their Facebook Page on June 24: "The tail of manufactured Sprinker is a little harder than the final samples, so the tail tends not to spin well for slower reeling. If you like to reel it slowly, you may try to pinch a little bit of its joint like a picture."
They may have resolved the issue by now.

TW sells spare Sprinker tails
yeah just saw that this week
This thread cracks me up. I'll probably just wait a while to order one. Kudos to the initiative to the guys who didn't order one and just built one of the dang things on their own....that's awesome.
In other news....check out Teckle's buzzbait...I think it's called the Taker. I have one, and the prop is far more weedless than a standard buzzbait.
Seems like Teckle makes innovative and useful products that work pretty good. Nice to see when you have some companies (*cough cough LiveTarget) popping out some weirdo bait every week to make some quick cash.
