Can i catch aligator gar with the 5000?

Answer: I have purchased a 4000 . In my opinion it can handle a nice size gar if need to. Drag setting is key.

Answer: works great. caught stripebass on it. if you want to make your reel last longer always wash it with regular running water after fishing.

Answer: The specs. on Amazon sale add was given for the 4000; 16lbs - 210yds & 18lbs -180. Contact Runcl store to get that answer. Just a guess I would think it be close to 300yds.

Answer: I have 30 lb braid on my 3000. It depends on the type of fishing, and how much line you need.

Answer: I dont like braided line on my spinning reels but I use a line depending where I am fishing. I only use braided when I am fishing over 100ft deep. Otherwise I prefer mono or poly.

How do you switch side for the handle?

Answer: screw handle counter clockwise take out, unscrew cap on other side and screw in handle then put cap back on where you took the handle from.

I picked up the Rushmore reel to do some catfishing and it has not disappointed. The reel is extremely smooth both casting and retrieving. Where I bank fish i have to get it out pretty for to hit a hole with big fish, this reel made that easy! My first day I landed a nice bluecat that tested the drag, which performed well. Ive used it twice since then and pulled in about 10 more cats with ease. The reel looks great and performs even better. I would highly recommend picking one of these bad boys up.

This is a very smooth operating reel. The spool is built to hold braided line as well as others. It has a smooth operating drag and the real is well balanced and goes well for my 7 foot medium rod. Exactly what I look for in a reel. Smooth operating bail and great looking. The smooth operating bail is always important to me as always hate struggling with the handle to get the bail to click back. I actually bought a second after testing the first. I spooled one with clear mono and the other with a heavier braided line and both operate perfectly. I went with the Rushmore 3000 as I do a lot of Bass fishing and Blue Gill and this reel is just what I needed. Will be buying a 2000 now for my grand daughter.

Frankly, this reel has exceeded my expectations. This is a high quality spinning reel that feels much more solid than other reels I’ve owned from major manufacturers in the same price range. In fact, this reel has now replaced my Shakespeare spinning reel. The retrieve is very smooth. The action in the bail feels great. The foam padding on the crank is a nice touch. The laser etching on the reel looks super high end. The drag adjustment has a buttery feel to it with a very solid click response. I’ve had the reel fir a couple weeks now and have had it out on the water a few times. It has performed flawlessly.

This is my new favorite budget reel. Smooth as butter to cast and retrieve. Very lightweight, but machined really well. I can see getting a lot of use out of this.

I have this one set up with 8 or 10Lb FC as a finesse setup. Looking for a heavy duty rod to pair it with to do some cat fishing to see how the drag handles something heavier.

Use it for bass finesse fishing and it has more than enough drag. The drag is smooth and the high speed allows you to take up line very fast. The light weight of this reel does not wear you out. Alot better than you would expect for the price.
