Is this reel saltwater approved?

Answer: it can be used in fresh or salt water. I would rinse it off with fresh water after each use and that goes for anything in salt water just to be safe.

Does this reel work for saltwater?

Answer: I've use my 4000 in Saltwater. To be honest last year I even submerged it while surf fishing with it, freshwater rinse after each use and stored for the winter. Still had grease in it, no salt, or sand. A quick wipe down, oiled and greased and it's back in service. So I'd say for the money it will certainly work salt applications.

What size is better for 30 pound braided line?

Answer: I use the 4000 for 30 lb power pro plus. Never had a problem.

Is this a real reel?

Answer: I have $100-$150 spinning reels that aren't made as well as this one is. It handles big River Smallmouth with ease and the drag works perfectly !

Is the reel right or left handed?

Answer: The reel can be changed for right and left hand use. Unscrew the handle on one side and the cap from the other. Set it up for your correct style and attached the handle and cap.

What is the difference from the 6000 and the 1000 Spinning real?

The 6000 size spare spool does not fit over the main shaft bearing. Removing the bearing will lead to its loss. Do I have the wrong spool?

What size would you recommend for trout fishing?

Answer: I've had the reel a few months now and have caught lots of rainbow trout and two steelhead. So far it's been a great reel for me I've used it with 8 and 10 pound test mono line.

Can you provide all dimensions for the 6000 as well as the spool diameter? I wish to understand how big it is.

Answer: I'm not sure,i put about 300 yard's of 30 lbs on mine

Answer: Everybody has an idea of their own of what "big fish" are. There is a detailed chart in the 2nd photo that tells you the limits and such. Also there is a pretty big fish shown in the listing photos.

Answer: It all depends on what you mean by 'big fish'. I wouldn't recommend it for marlin fishing but I did catch a 2 ft. dogfish shark while fishing near the East Rockaway inlet at Rockaway beach in NY. It's a good sturdy reel.

Is this a good reel to use on an ultra-light 5’-6” pole?

Answer: In my own preference. Yes you can use it... Ill use 1000 on this pole... But it will depend on how you are comportable with the reel.

My husband is an avid fisherman and loves trying out reels. He did the first thing he liked about this one was it had to spools. He tried one spool with a 12lb testline and one with an 8 lb. He said the 12 lb worked at first then not so well later. He said the 8lb test line did great. He suggested if youbuse heavier test line get the next one up.

I was really disappointed with this purchase. I bought the largest model as a lightning deal for a good price, for catfishing. It got a lot of good reviews too. For me though, the quality and functionality was not there. For example, the bail pops open when I make a hard hook set. Also, the drag had to be really cranked down to get any meaningful drag. Finally, it is very difficult to spool braid, it just keeps bunching up the braid at the bottom of the spool. I’ll be replacing it soon.

Reymar : Make sure to rinse off after saltwater fishing

Took this out for the first time yesterday, and like what others said, it is buttery smooth. However, if you're going to fish in saltwater, make sure to give it this reel and your other equipment a good rinse off with clean freshwater. I wasn't able to clean it off after and the next day the reel wouldn't even spin. I ended up cleaning out the entire reel inside and out and it's back to normal.

*UPDATE*
Reel gears are completely ruined. I’ve been keeping up with the cleaning and the reel does not spin anymore. The reel handle even broke off completely. I guess you can say you get what you pay for.
