Is this reel saltwater approved?

Answer: it can be used in fresh or salt water. I would rinse it off with fresh water after each use and that goes for anything in salt water just to be safe.

Does this reel work for saltwater?

Answer: I've use my 4000 in Saltwater. To be honest last year I even submerged it while surf fishing with it, freshwater rinse after each use and stored for the winter. Still had grease in it, no salt, or sand. A quick wipe down, oiled and greased and it's back in service. So I'd say for the money it will certainly work salt applications.

What size is better for 30 pound braided line?

Answer: I use the 4000 for 30 lb power pro plus. Never had a problem.

Is this a real reel?

Answer: I have $100-$150 spinning reels that aren't made as well as this one is. It handles big River Smallmouth with ease and the drag works perfectly !

Is the reel right or left handed?

Answer: The reel can be changed for right and left hand use. Unscrew the handle on one side and the cap from the other. Set it up for your correct style and attached the handle and cap.

What is the difference from the 6000 and the 1000 Spinning real?

Answer:

The 6000 size spare spool does not fit over the main shaft bearing. Removing the bearing will lead to its loss. Do I have the wrong spool?

What size would you recommend for trout fishing?

Answer: I've had the reel a few months now and have caught lots of rainbow trout and two steelhead. So far it's been a great reel for me I've used it with 8 and 10 pound test mono line.

Can you provide all dimensions for the 6000 as well as the spool diameter? I wish to understand how big it is.

Answer: Everybody has an idea of their own of what "big fish" are. There is a detailed chart in the 2nd photo that tells you the limits and such. Also there is a pretty big fish shown in the listing photos.

Answer: It all depends on what you mean by 'big fish'. I wouldn't recommend it for marlin fishing but I did catch a 2 ft. dogfish shark while fishing near the East Rockaway inlet at Rockaway beach in NY. It's a good sturdy reel.

Is this a good reel to use on an ultra-light 5’-6” pole?

Answer: In my own preference. Yes you can use it... Ill use 1000 on this pole... But it will depend on how you are comportable with the reel.

For a reel that cost less then $15, I didn't have high hopes. I was blown away when I opened the package. It is lightweight and actually goof looking. It cast out so smooth and far. I have yet to use it in saltwater, but caught a few bass with it and I will be ordering backups for my guest poles.

I fished with it for a few hours and a screw fell out making the real inoperable . I was about a mile offshore on my kayak. For 13 bucks it is not worth the hassle of returning it. Lesson learned.

I purchased this reel in July and I have used it for about 4 times. I noticed the second time I used the reel all the screws started showing signs of corrosion making the reel look awful. The sides of the reel are degrading really fast.
The reel is still works fine but I have other reels at the same price range that are better constructed and with better components. p.s. I always rinse my reels after each trip and wipe them down. I foresee this reel not lasting more than a year of heavy salt water usage.

Picture is of (top to bottom):
1) shaft spool bearing, outside of reel body between spool and main shaft appears to be stainless and sealed
2) handle support ball bearing, not stainless or sealed
3) drive gear support ball bearing, not stainless or sealed.
4) main shaft support bearing (in front of one way clutch (anti reverse) roller bearing. Neither support bearing or one way clutch are stainless.

I used this reel for surf fishing about 12 times. I have always rinsed it off gently with fresh water after every use. When getting ready to go the beach, I noticed the anti reverse was not engaging. So I didn't use it last outing. I took the reel apart and was sad to see every internal bearing rusted.

With WD40, I cleaned off the rust, and slowly worked the bearings free so they rotate again. Of course they are all pitted and scarred from the rust but they are spinning. The one way clutch was also broken down and cleaned. I just put everything back together and it seems to work. I will have to break it down again to properly lubricate e everything.

Update:
Resuntek contacted me about my issues with the real. Totally unexpected and very appreciated. The Reel is back together, oiled and greased. It is not as smooth as original, it is working fine. This is the 6000 size reel, used for surf fishing. It does get splashed (while waking out for a cast) and dripped on (hands wet, many fish were caught), but never submerged or in the water. Resuntek comments concerning sea water not being cleaned in time was the cause. I agree but the line roller bearing and the bearing between the mains haft and the spool have no signs of rust (higher quality?). As other reviews noticed the screws on the outside started to rust. This was immediately corrected when noticed with some Locktite Extend (rust neutralizer) applied to the head of each screw with a toothpick (and reapplied). This is a easy reel to inspect and maintain if the exterior screws are can be removed. I would suggest monthly inspections. My reel had it problem after 3 months. I will continue to use it, but probably not walk out into the surf with it unless it is calm.
