Answer: I bought mine to use surf fishing. I wanted an inexpensive reel that I could use 1-2 weeks a year, since I don’t live near the beach. It lasted about 3 days before the gears were gunked up with salt and started corroding.

If it is not metal they did a good job of making a reel with something else. Buy this.

Answer: It really depends on what you're going to use it for (jigging, spoons, plugs, casting or trolling, etc) and the species you're going after. I'm assuming that you will be using braided line as 30 # mono would be difficult to handle on these reels. You can put 30# braid on different size reels, it's just that the smaller reels will hold less line. What size rod will you be using? Match the reel to the rod so you have a good balance. Use the larger size on larger rods and appropriate sizes on smaller rods. Match your rod and reel to the species plus the method you'll be using and go for it.

Answer: The biggest size, 5000 I believe, one thing you should notice is even it's marked as 5000, it is as small as a regular 4000 and feel the same. The handle is very fragile, so don't drag it too much or you will have to replace your handle once in a while.

First look... holy moly this is an incredible reel at ANY price. Been fishing almost 40 years. This is an extremely nice reel.
It feels as smooth as reels that cost 10x's as much. I fish all the time. Fresh only.
This reel will never do anything other than pond bass fishing and creek trout fishing. Low stress. I keep my reels well oiled with Penn or Reel butter.
If any problems... I'll be back.
However st first glance... Unbelievably nice. I paired my 2000 series with a 5 foot light action ugly stik and 10lb braid with a 4 lb leader. The red on black looks murderous.

I just got back into fishing last year since I was a kid. I bought this reel (3000 model) to go on a 5.5' ugly stick... The price was good and I simply keep it on the boat all year round... If it went missing, I wouldn't be heart broken...that said, everytime I picked it up, it does it's job...

On several occasions I hooked onto
something good sized, like a large mouth ranging from 3.5-5.5lbs... the reel struggled to get them up to the boat...

Overall I would say this is a decent, middle or the road product... If your very serious about fishing...your money would be better spent else where, on a higher end reel.

This reel really surprised me! It is solid without any slack in operation or antireverse. Drag is adequate and comes with spare spool. Handle has solid feel. This thing is inexpensive but not cheap Chinese crap, has outperformed many of my other reels.
