Okuma Cerymar Baitfeeder spinning reels feature an easy use on/off auto trip bait feeding system, cyclonic flow rotor design can minimize water intrusion and corrosion. The precision elliptical gearing system creates less friction during casting for increased distance, greater accuracy, and longer line life, as well as smoother, much uniform drag pressures.

This technology utilizes a lightweight graphite construction that is strengthened with solid aluminum in all the right places. Components include a multi-disc, oiled-felt drag, stainless steel bearings, machine-cut brass pinion gear, and an anodized spool.

Answer: just smoother

What is the braid capacity? Is this a good surf reel?

Answer: the CBF-55 holds 375 yards of 30 lb. braid. The CBF-65 will hold 305 yds of 50 lb line and 205 yds of 65 lb braid.

How come the photo of the cbf-65 doesn’t show the bait feeder switch? is the photo incorrect?

Answer: The photo is incorrect. The reel shown in the photo is the a regular Ceymar reel without the baitfeeder.

Is the frame and reel stem solid? I hate when there is flex in the reel stem. Thanks

Answer: Yes. Much better than the Avenger reels.

Where do I get a spare spool for this reel ? Possibly with more line capacity.

Answer: The spool that was provided has very little line capacity - I’d look at the repair/installation instructions that came with the reel or go to Okuma website I put 6 lbs line on mine using it for smaller fish

Dies this come with spare spool?

Answer: No

what size braid would best suit the cbf40 ?

Answer: 30-40 lb braid would be the best diameter line to use on a 40 size reel

Answer: I run Suffix ice braid in a 6# test. Worked great for walleye.

Answer: The line capacity for the Ceymar C-1000 : (yds. / lbs.) - 280/2 , 140/4 , 100/6

Answer: The CBF-40 is a good size for a Steelhead reel especially if you are using braid. You can go down to thinner diameter braid to increase your line capacity if needed.

I loved the baitrunner feature. I liked the smoothness of the CBF-40 reel it pairs very well with my Ugly Stick GX2 7ft rod that I use fishing for catfish. The spool is loaded up with 20lb Power Pro Braid plenty of line for the spool.

My go too for light trolling (inshore fresh for walleye etc and inshore salt), surf fishing, drifting etc.. I have lost count of how many Stripers, Red and Black Drum, Sea Trout, Flounder and more I have caught using this reel paired up with the right ugly stik. I have found these Okuma series to be a better quality than the 2 1/2 times the price of the comparative Shimano bait runners. I have been using Okuma bait feeders for years now and have yet to be disappointed.
