Answer: I fish from the surf in New England I have caught many Albies with this reel it’s a great reel I am sure it will handle anything you throw at it as far rods go I fish from the surf I have one on a 91/2 ft and one on a101/2ft and that is a 6000 size reel and they cast as far as my Ultegra long cast reels
