What specific type of freshwater line is recommended for this reel?

Answer: There is no one specific type of freshwater line, depending on the species you are targeting while fishing and the size of the reel the line type will vary. This reel is suitable to use monofilament, braid or flourocarbon.

Answer: I use 30 Lb braid w 20 lb leader w no problem. With monofilament, anything 20 lb test or under would be fine.

Does it have anti- reverse ?

Answer: Yes.

Where could I buy an extra spool?

Answer: If not Amazon, try Shimano themselves.

What is the arrow on the side of the spool for?

Is this the 2017 version?

Answer: I’m not really sure how to check that I bought this in 2018 and it does function well you have to make sure when you wind the line on it it’s good and tight and sits for a few days because when you cast it it will peel off more and tends to get tangled once in a while till the line is tight and broken in

Can i safely put 20lb kastking flurocarbon line on my new sahara 3000 with 7ft medium fast rod, or that too much?

Answer: Technically, you can and the reel is plenty strong to handle it, but that's a large diameter line for a 3000 and you may get 70 yds at best. 10lb braid with 30lb fluorocarbon leader works great with this reel.

Answer: You could, but wouldn't get much line on the spool, most will put main line as braid and use a flouro leader (last 2-3 ft)

Spins super smooth and casts are smooth with mono and braided. I also got my dad a sedona reel, but can't say one is smoother than the other.

If I had to choose again I would buy the 1000 instead of the 2500. sizes are about the same, but the 1000 is considerably lighter and both. Having tried both they are great for walleye and trout, even small pike and bass.

My biggest pet peve is how hard it is to get extra spools and how expensive they are; I like to change my lines depending on the water and species im fishing

Great Shimano unit for a great price. I use it in South FL and had no problem picking up trout/bass/red snapper and snook. You will not regret this one

MB : A good Stradic substitute

Shamano’s pricing has gotten out of control. I like the Stradic but am not going to pay $250 for a reel that doesn’t last any longer than those less expensive. The Sahara is around $80 and lasts just as long (for those that abuse their stuff!). A good choice for a midpriced reel.
