Initial impressions
1. Reel is smaller than standard sizes, Bought a 5000 size and it is a hair smaller than multiple 4000 reels I have. Suggest getting 1 size larger than you think, maybe 2.
2. Frame is metal as indicated, mix of ferrous and non-ferrous components. Spool is ferrous (magnet sticks) aluminum would be better, rotor appears to be plastic. Bail wire is think/sturdy (part of reason I tried it) and appears non-ferrous.
3. Line roller is noticeably narrower than most reels I have (about half as wide), not sure yet if that will be an issue or not.
Will try and report back once I have used it some. Given the amount of ferrous material, should be interesting to see if corrosion will be an issue. Yeah, I know, what do you expect from an under $15 reel.

The reel is very smooth and is very sturdy handle, doesn't flex. It cast very smoothly!

I was amazed , I bought this reel at a great price ,1/4 of comparable reels , to good to be true , as such I had planned to use it as a beater rod ( one i climb down the rockpiles with and destroy rather quickly , but in mounting it , handling it , filling it with line I find this reel to be a high quality peice of equipment and am moving it to the front of my arsenal for surf fishing and moving a much higher
Priced (but older ) reel to rock busting duty , ( i own about 30ish working rods and reels for many different types of fishing with 40 years Experience
will tell about durability in follow up
But this a good reel for twice the price
