Questions about Sougayilang Fly Fishing Reel Large Arbor 2+1 BB with CNC-machined Aluminum Alloy Body and Spool in Fly Reel Sizes 5/6,7/8
Q:
What is the capacity in yards of this reel? Will it need "backing line"?
Answer: Depends on what you put on it but I have 100 yards 20 pound and 100 foot 8 weight on one and it's fine the reel isn't overloaded but it doesn't come with backing or line you'll have to order that separate
Answer: This was down below to answer your question.
Q:
How do i get replacement parts ?
Answer: I don’t know. I would probably return the item or contact the manufacturer and ask for a replacement.
Answer: unknown
Q:
what does the reel weight?
Q:
Is the reel arbor big enough to have fly line backing?
Answer: You NEVER want to mount any fly line on any reel without first installing a good amount of backing. This reel will hold at least 75 yards of backing prior to the addition of the fly line.
Answer: Yes this is a large arbor reel which should load 100 yds of 20lb. backing material.
Answer: Yes I have 100 yards of 20 pound backing on mine
Answer: Yes it is big enough
Answer: Absolutely.
Answer: Yes it is for sure
Answer: Yes
Q:
How does this reel perform when it gets wet? Specifically the drag system.
Answer: I must be the one who received the two good ones as I've had nothing but excellent results with these reels. Recently I tied into an exceptional Northern Pike with a rain wet 5/6 and enjoyed a real run with high jumps and more, all the while putting the drag to a classic wet reel test. Throughout the run the funny named reel performed as well as one of my expensive big name reels. I have had nothing but excellent results from these "knock-offs" so I, so far, am absolutely amazed. I would suggest that if you are having trouble with your reel you might want to try cleaning it once in a while!
Answer: I bought a 10wt a few years ago to fish salmon when I lived in Alaska. The reel did great. Zero issues. Is it as great as a Tibor? No. Did it perform great for $40? Absolutely. I would buy another one.
Answer: The drag failed in 2 days of use. First gets a "lumpy feel" then fails all together. Reel is going back.
Answer: So far no issues, half decent reel for the money, good looking reel too!
Q:
Anyone have a problem with the drag? I can't get it to adjust, it's almost nonexistent right now. Anyone have the mfg. contact info.?
Answer: i had no problem changed from right hand retrieve to left hand for the price reel has worked ok not like ahigh priced orvis or Sage reel
Answer: I never had a problem. What happens when you turn it all the way?
Q:
Where made ?
Answer: Not sure. I suspect in Asia somewhere. It is well made and certainly is a better deal from some of the big names in fly fishing.
Answer: China, well made but poorly designed. The spool kept falling off the reel unless I kept tightening the nut that holds the spool on.
Answer: Sorry I don’t know.
Answer: Made in China. The reel seems to be wel
Answer: China, I believe. Well made, however.
Answer: China
Answer: China
Q:
Is the 5/6 real at least 2" wide?
Answer: Yes,The 5/6 reel's Diameter is 3.35in and the inner Diameter is 2.16in.
Answer: Line capacity width approximately 1.5"
Q:
Has any body used this reel for saltwater fishing, and if so how does it hold up ?
Answer: I haven't used it in salt water, but like any other real you have to clean it with fresh water after each use.
Q:
Does the reel have a disc drag?
Answer: Yes, the drag is on the rear of the reel. It works very smoothly.
Answer: Yes, though the fish have not given me the occasion to use it much.
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes it does
Q:
Spare spools?
Answer: I looked into that when I bought mine. Then I remembered it was a $40 fly reel and just bought another one...
Answer: havent found any
Q:
how to change from left hand to right hand?
Answer: If you look at all the pictures in the listing one of them shows you how to swap the AR bearing. VERY simple to do.
Q:
Can I get a replacement nut for the spool where attaches to the reel?
Answer: As a user of this reel I honestly cannot answer that question. However, since it came from a factory it is likely there is a nut somewhere that will fit the hub. I would start at rack of misc. hardware at true value etc.....a local repair shop might be the answer. Wish I had one for you...
Answer: I'd try the manufacturers in China, I'm sure they'd send a new one, their address was on my shipping packet but I don't know where it is now.
Answer: Not sure. You will have to contact the seller.
Q:
When will the 5/6 be back in gold
Answer: Don’t no
Q:
How do i adjust the intake tension. it seems to only have tension when i pull out line. it needs some intake tension because it loosely spools
Answer: The drag you feel when you pull out line is for the fish to feel. There is no tension on the intake. I hold the fly line between my fingers as I reel in, unless there is a fish on the fly, to keep tension on the fly line and move the line back and forth so it is even on the reel!
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: No fly reel has tension reeling in. To keep the line tight reeling in you run the line through your thumb and index finger. At least that’s what I’ve always done.
Answer: Thete is no “intake tension” on any fly reel, onlyndrsg on the outgoing line.
Q:
Does it come with a case?
Answer: Yes kinda it's a velvet little baggy it works but not really what I would call a case
Q:
Do they sell spare spools?
Answer: Usually a spare spool is loaded with different weight lines, backing, and leader for changing fly fishing conditions!
Answer: Sorry, I don't know, but at that price you could just buy spare reels
Answer: The seller previously answered this same question. The answer is no.
Q:
Will this reel accept a Goture spool?
Answer: While the Goture reels are similar in design and drag setup, their spool shape & depth is slightly different so I would think you cannot interchange spools.
Q:
How much does the 7/8 reel weigh?
Answer: I just received the 7/8 reel and it weighs 166.0g or 5.855 oz according to my scale. Seems like a very nice reel for the price.
Answer: I do not know the weight, but it is heavier than a reel that is in the "hundreds". It will also affect your cast and the performance of your rod.
Q:
Can you buy spare or other spools for this reel?
Answer: I havent figured out how to buy extra spool. I would if i could but for that price might be worth buying second reel!
Q:
What type of arbor does this reel have?
Answer: Large arbor
Q:
How do i know which way the retreive is set?
Answer: Left hand.
Q:
Does this reel come with the brown trout?
Answer: I'm not sure I understand your question? Are you asking if it can be used for catching brown trout, the answer is yes. In fact it can be used to catch many species of fish. It is a fly reel, so you will nee a fly line to go on it and a fly rod to cast the fly line. If that's not your question, please explain what you want to know.
Answer: Should be enough... I use it with rainbows under 5 poubds...
Answer: Yes, and occasional rainbow too!
Q:
What size reel should a beginner purchase for inshore saltwater?
Answer: That depends on what size fly line you are casting. The larger the line size the bigger the reel you need.
Q:
Is it normal for the reel handle to have play in it?
Answer: Not sure what you mean by having play in it. If the spool does not fit right that could cause play and that's no good. If the handle is loose it could cause play and needs to be tightened.
Q:
I'm new to fly fishing looking to get my first rod. im looking at a 5 weight 9 foot rod. what real would fit best with this rod? also what line weight
Answer: For a 5 weight rod you need a 5 weight line and a reel in that weight range. If you're just starting out phone or go in to your local fly shop. They would be glad to help.
Q:
Could you use this for salmon and steelhead fishing? If so, what size should I get?
Answer: You want a larger reel in the 7-8 range for steelhead. A large salmon would test the 7-8. You also need to put on as much backing as possible for salmon. The 5 weight has no business being around a large salmon.
Q:
Does it have a sealed drag system or sealed berrings?
Answer: I don't know what that looks like, but I can tell you if someone handed me this reel, I would guess it was worth a lot more money, very nice quality for the money.
Answer: Not sure, but it is extremely well machined and very smooth, Couldn't believe the quality.
Answer: Yes
Q:
New to fly fishing, what's the difference between the 5/6 and the 7/8 reel?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: It has to with your line weight and rod "stiffness". For example, if you have a 5/6 rod you want a 5/6 reel and the appropriate weighted line.
Answer: The best answer you will ever receive to any question about fly fishing is the advice to go to Youtube and watch ALL the Lefty Kreh videos you can find. Lefty is a fly fishing legend who sadly just passed away. What a terrible loss to all us serious Tight Line folks. Good luck as you learn by following Lefty's advice. I also recommend that you purchase any of Lefty's many fly fishing books available via Amazon. Follow everything Lefty says and you will eventually become a Tight Lines pro.
Q:
Is it a saltwater reel?
Answer: I consider these freshwater reels ... that being said, you can use freshwater reels in saltwater if you keep them submerged in fresh water between fishing days and at the end of your trip you take the line and backing off the reel and clean it, then take the reel completely apart and clean ALL salt deposits off all surfaces. It's a lot of work, but it beats paying $400 to 1500 for a true saltwater impervious reel.
Q:
can it be converted to right hand retrieval after delivered?
Answer: Yes, you remove a part and reverse a mechanism on the shaft to do so. I did it after watching a little video on youtube about this reel.
Q:
Do you make a 3/4 reel??
Answer: Yes they do
Q:
Can i get addional spool
Answer: No,Dear, this fly reel don't came with any addional spool
Answer: At this price, just buy another complete reel in the extra size you desire. There are no spare reels offered by this seller...per his own comments.
Q:
Can you purchase extra spools?
Answer: I just did a cursory search on google and couldn't find one. At this price I may purchase a second reel.
Answer: Not that I’m aware of. But at this price, buy two!!
Answer: not that I can find. I dont think you can.
Answer: I do not think so. This is a commodity reel, mass pdoduced.
Q:
what does the reel weight? 5/6wt and 7/8wt
Answer: Doesn’t matter, it’s crap, don’t buy it.
Q:
do they sell spare spools?
Answer: Usually a spare spool is loaded with different weight lines, backing, and leader for changing fly fishing conditions!
Answer: Sorry, I don't know, but at that price you could just buy spare reels
Answer: The seller previously answered this same question. The answer is no.
Q:
Can I get this reel in red and gold?
Answer: Not red but pink
Q:
Does this real have sealed bearings
Answer: Yes, it does, very smooth action reel.
Q:
Has anyone else found a difference in this smaller reel regarding retrieve hand change? Contrary to an answer below, the switch is not pictured.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: It easily changes sides by removing the center nut and flipping around the one way bearing.
Q:
What are the dimensions of this reel?
Q:
Can I buy spare parts? Need an end cap.
Answer: I haven't tried, but I honestly doubt it.
Q:
Does this reel click while retrieving line ?
Answer: No it’s a smooth retrievel. Very smooth!
Answer: Silent
Answer: No ... Only on the outflow.
Answer: no
Q:
How much "backing line" is needed for this reel in 5/6?
Answer: If you are using the backing from any of the Asian providers, it is 30# braided Dacron and has a diameter about as big as 15#-20# mono. I was able to get about 75 yards on under a WF6F line. If your line is a DT6F you'll only be able to get about 40 yards. If you need more backing (on such a small reel I don't know why you would), buy 20# Tufline XP or Spider Wire for backing. It has the diameter of 6# test mono so you will be able to get more yards of backing on under the line (plus, you only have to change it out every 5 or 6 years instead of every other year that you would for Dacron backing).
Answer: Depends on what your using I guess. I spool all my trout reels with 40lb braid, 60lb for salt. I bet I put 100-150 yds of 40lb on this reel. It would probably take 80ish yards of 20lb dacron.
Q:
which is the most comon size to buy?
Answer: 5/6 that'll cover most your trout, bass, and pan fish needs it'll a little heavy for small trout in little creeks and a bit light for salt water fishing or salmon and steel head
Q:
This is the entire reel correct?
Answer: Yup.
Q:
Both direction click
Answer: I'm thinking it does click on both directions, very light on the retrieve, louder on the outflow.
Answer: No.. does not click when reeling in line.
Answer: No it reels smooth with no resistance
Answer: One way
Answer: No they do not.
Q:
Are spare spools available?
Answer: To answer your question, no, fly reels typically do not have a "spare spool"
Answer: Have no idea. Hubby is still in early learning mode in regards to fly fishing..
Q:
Is it left or right handed reel
Answer: This fly reel's handle is Left/right Interchangeable, hope you'll like it:)
Answer: Right. I'm sending it back. The real mount is crooked. Very cheap..........
Answer: It comes left but you can switch it. I bought this a customer to customer don't buy this. The manufacturer said it was a disc drag system but it is a free spool system causing line to backlash whenever used.
Answer: If you look at all the pictures in the listing one of them shows you how to swap the AR bearing.
Answer: Both. It's very easy to switch by removing the bearing turning it over and reinstalling.
Answer: It's either. You have to take the spindle apart and reverse the innards to have it go the other way.
Answer: It can be set up for either. Simple enough to switch.

This reel is more than I expected for the price point. Great machining, drag, smooth, solid. I would put this reel up against reels 2-3 times the price. You won't be disappointed in this reel.
Architectguy : Looking for a inexpensive backup reel
Pretty good reel for the money. Not a Sage quality reel like my others, but it impressed me all the same. I would place an additional order for a 3/4 wt. reel if one was available. Not disappointed by the quality of the product.

Jason stone : Freaking Awesome
Nice reel for the money.... got it yesterday and caught fish today with it. I'm really impressed with this reel
RT : Great reel for the price
Only fished a few times with it but it operates flawlessly. Very smooth operation and nice to look at. I don't typically spend a lot on fly reels so I can't compare it to anything on the upper end of the spectrum but compared to a scientific angler or Cortland type reel it's much better.
I didn't know how to switch the reel from right to left at first but it's quite simple, just pull out the bearing and turn it around and replace.
I'm glad I purchased it.
Noah Hobson : Nice reel for the money
Good ree for the money. Drag works perfect and is a very nice looking reel. Only complaint is the reel handle is loose and rattles a little bit
The Outdoorsman : My 2nd Sougayilang Fly Reel, Same Experience, Poor Quality Control/Craftsmanship/Business Practices.
Reel came on time, arrived in large bubble wrap bag. Inside was a box, inside the box was more bubble wrapping and inside the bubble wrapping was a nice soft black velvet bag. I opened the black bag and received my 2nd Sougayilang fly reel. I immediately noticed gouging on the outer rim of the reel, not factory related but, from being placed on rocks. Their is also damage to the inside brass rim portion of the reel, more than likely factory related based off the pattern of damage. I can evidently see this reel had another owner for a very short period of time, probably another Amazon customer who ended up not liking it. The reel also has many, MANY small scratches all along the outside of it, appears to be from when the previous angler used it in or walked it through thick brush. I would feel bad returning it since it'll more than likely be pawned off on the next unknowing Amazon customer as "New". I doubt the Sougayilang company would take the loss, so I will be keeping it :/ The reel still functions and I guess that's all I need. I take the highest care of everything I own, that way it lasts forever, so I'm disappointed this is my starting point with a Sougayilang product again. It's also betraying to people to charge them "New Prices" for something previously slightly used with obvious cosmetic damage. (Or unfinished in the case of my first purchase from them).
My 1st purchase from Sougayilang was a fly reel and rod combo, and the rod wasn't finished on the back side just above the handle. It almost looks burnt and bubbly from a high heat source, like a blow torch. This may very well be the last time I do business with Sougayilang, this type of pattern is not promising. When your lucky to have the time to go out and fish, it's a "reel drag" when you run into problems as a result of poor craftsmanship, time spent dealing with issues is time not spent enjoying the short moments we have to ourselves in life. I'd rather be fishing, enjoying the scenery than having my head buried in someone else's desperate cash grab outcome product.
Fearnofishbob : FANTASTIC reel for the $$$
I was looking for an inexpensive 5/6 wt. reel for a new Orvis rod I just bought.....didn't really expect much when I ordered this reel but with a 5 year warranty I decided to buy one............. WOW........... was I wrong about this reel, I have owned some of the best brand name reels in the business during my 60+ years of fly fishing and I'll have to say that this is money well spent.... the build and materials quality look outstanding..... drag feels to be smooth and very responsive... someone commented about not being able to buy an extra spool but at this price it would be easier and less expensive to just buy another reel........ the test will be in how it preforms when I get to fishing with it....if I find anything adverse about it I will post a follow up to this first review......... will say that at this point I am 110% satisfied and am thinking seriously about ordering another ...Thanks Sougayilang
Cecil J. Hash : good reel
Good value
AL Pfleger : Nice Reel!
This is a nice reel to have and the price was right! Good Customer service!
Jackie Treehorn : Terrible drag system.
Absolute garbage. Looks nice. Performs very poorly. You get what you pay for.
Paul Josefson : Real nice reel!
Just received the reel, and it is very pretty. Appears well machined throughout, and smooth as silk. I have not taken it for a "test drive" yet, I am seriously looking forward to playing around with it. Price point is great for such a good looking piece.
William Stivers : For the price, you just can't beat it.
I've been fly fishing for 40+ years for fresh and salt water species. Most of my fishing is done with bait casters and spinning set-ups. But, on occasion I like to go bare-bones and tackle fish on the fly. I would say I'm an intermediate fly fisherman at best. I bought one of these reels (8 weight) as a back up for striper, redfish and speckled trout. I liked it so well I bought a second one to load up with different line for a quick swap. After a year of abuse the older first one is still going strong. Keep in mind that I take very good care of my gear. I always rinse with fresh water and spray with a little WD-40 especially after use in salt water. I have had a blast fishing with these reels and have never had a malfunction. The drag seems a little weak for an 8 weight but, hasn't really caused any problems so far. Keep the drag washers dry and oil free and you'll be fine as long as you're not trying to catch a 10 weight fish on an 8 weight reel. So, as stated in the headline, you just can't get a better reel for the price. When it comes to fly fishing, the line is where the money should go. I wouldn't go cheap on a no-name-brand line. Just my 2 cents.
Carlos : Nice looking, well built
So far so good. Very smooth, well built and machined. Have not tried it yet since I literally just got it, but in terms of quality, I am very impressed.
Follow up:used it several times since I purchased it and I love it. Works great for me. Got lots of complements on the looks alone!
Geoffrey Simms : Drag way too light. Unusable.
With the drag set at maximum it’s only about 2 pounds. Unusable.
Noah Hobson : Nice reel for the money
Good ree for the money. Drag works perfect and is a very nice looking reel. Only complaint is the reel handle is loose and rattles a little bit
Kindle Customer : Drag does not work
Bought this for my son as a Christmas gift. He used it for the first time and noticed the drag doesn't work. Unfortunately, the return window closed before the weather became decent enough to try it out.
Trout chaser : Not too bad for the price
Having a variety of fly reels from the high dollar brands down to the sports box store sales, this reel has performed nicely. I put it to the test and it performed as any high dollar reel I've own. So far its a winner and it looks good.
Steve : Quality reel for the price
I've only used this reel a few times so I can't determine it's durability but it has a smooth drag and quality components for the price.
Erin : Very impressed
I was replacing a very cheap reel and given the more expensive options out there I was thinking this reel would also be very cheap buy I am honestly blown away at quality and smoothness of this reel. The drag is smooth and easily adjustable. The reel is quiet and I has smooth edges. Im very happy with this reel.
Katherine Healy : Good value for the money.
Haven't given it the test of time, but seems like a very good reel. 7/8 is a little small for an 8wt. 50yds. of 30# backing and a WF8sinktip works and is enough backing for my use but if you wanted more backing go up a size.
Tripod : Excellent Reel
Could not have found a better reel for the money. Very pleased with function, looks, and value. Will purchase another in size 7/8.
Billy : Why I gave it 5 Stars
If you don't try to compare it with a fly reel five times the price, I believe you get a tremendous amount of quality for under $40. I really don't think you can find anything better in this price range. It's got a very nice but not quite perfect finish with a minimal amount of machine marks in the finish. It's not on par with many $200 fly reels but then again consider the low price. It has a VERY slight amount of play in the spool but almost imperceptible. The anti-reverse is not totally instant but pretty close and better than you should expect for a reel in this price range. It does click rather softly when you are puling line off or the drag is being pulled but on retrieve it is totally silent making it a great choice for me. I detest the clicking noise when retrieving line or a fish on reels that have it. Reels that do this are a deal breaker for me. They always have been and always will be. Fishing is supposed to help your tranquility and there is nothing tranquil about an annoying clicking sound. Is it on par with the best out there? Of course not but if you have realistic expectations for a reel priced this low you should be very happy with it. I got the 5/6 size and it is fairly wide. I wish this was available in a smaller size but 5/6 is the smallest available at this time. If they make this available in a smaller size I would most certainly buy one.
cmberea : Good Value for the Price
I’m an experienced fly fisherman. I bought the reel specifically to fish for northern pike on occasional trips up north. I think it’s a good value for the money. I functions well. Drag works good. Only downside is the spool does not quick release. I suspect that’s one feature that keeps the price down.
Avid Angler : FALSE ADVERTISING SHOULD NOT BE PERMITTED
I was looking for a LARGE ARBOR FLY REEL, as advertised, and shown in the picture, reality is different.
Very SAD they mislead people with a false picture, my reel is a regular size arbor, Y just kept it pecause of the price, but it is false Advertisement , and that is wrong !!!
Rocker : Fly fishing on a bugdet
I am an avid fly fisherman trying to promote quality on a bugdet fly fishing set up. This reel worked great. I played the fish on the drag to see what it can do. It did its job like a champ. I bought 2 of them to check consistancy both of them are fabulous. I will promote these on our YouTube gear videos. I dont need a 550.00 dollar reel to catch fish! Rock on and rip lips!!!!!
DK : Great reel for the price
Not sealed bearings, but otherwise a remarkable reel. You won't need much backing. Looks and feels very nice. Excellent drag.
J. E. Tobey : IS GOOD CANADIAN WHISKEY REQUIRED FOR CHANGE-OVER????
I first purchased the larger of these reels. I was impressed with the quality for the price. I am a lefty, so when I got the large reel I needed to swap it over to right hand retrieve(left hand holding the rod). It only took me about 13-20 minutes to successfully accomplish that. NOW, at the time I did the change, I had consumed 3 stout "old-fashioned" tumblers of good Canadian whiskey. Nonetheless, things went oh-so smoothly. No tiny parts left airborne and the bushings and drag washers all reversed and behaved nicely.
When I received the smaller reel, this item, I had consumed no whiskey, but so far , even with the large reel for guidance, I have been unable to do the changeover. (Note: I was then and still am without whiskey; that may be the issue, but I doubt it.) There are differences in the
design of the two reels. On the large one I did not have to deal with flying spring loaded tiny pins and two small unsprung pins. This company
needs to make instructions available for hand-dominant change. I have not yet given up; I will go out and buy another 1.75 l. bottle of
Seagram's VO and see if that helps. Well, the VO did not help but the seller did HELP. They contacted me and are now sending a replacement. I am a bit stunned ( not by the whiskey) since it is my fault that I made the mistake. As further comment, the machining and function on both reels I bought was excellent and tolerances tight. I have three high quality bamboo flyrods and the large reel is for my spey, an antique Winchester sold premium bamboo (10') and two exceptionally high quality new bamboo rods. The small reel is for my 7 foot 4 weight line rod. Then I have an 8' 6" that already has a fine reel from "Headwaters." NOTE: I do not think the Seagram's hurt; it probably helped to keep my temper steady as I swapped the large and now serves as a "toast" to the seller. The seller is extraordinary. They also sent me a photo that clearly shows how simple the change is. I hope they provide it to Amazon..Thus, I have raised my rating to 5 star. EDIT, Positive; this company came through on the replacement within about 4-5 days for delivery. I had no trouble changing retrieve side, especially easy and now I know this is common in a full range of reels-even in the big bucks brands. Out of a sense of appreciation and honor, I wrote to seller and offered to return the reel I had messed up . I received a prompt and kindly response that I could keep the reel I improperly assembled. This, even though I was willing to pay the return postage. Add a 6th star for their customer service !!! PS- I now know how to correct the problem I made for myself. If anyone else tries to completely dissassemble the drag system-- DON'T-- there are three solid pins in there that hold the rotation of one of the drag discs and it is now obvious that these three pins should drop into their respective holes to do their job. Aligning the drag discs and all three pins causes them to drop down flush (these 3 are separate from the spring loaded clicker pin) . The washer set, inboard, is very hard to manipulate to realign the washer holes with the plain pins. I have spent my avocation in sophisticated mechanical work and I blew it.
Baileigh : terrible product, do not buy
DO NOT BUY. My reel came damaged, the company is impossible to get ahold of. I’ve never used the reel! It seems like the reel is off kilter, like a tire on your car that’s out of alignment when you reel in. I can’t even reel in because it’s so off balance. Brought the reel to an orvis shop in hopes of adjusting it to no luck. Complete waste of money. My return window closed, I didn’t have the time to bring it to a shop in time of the return window. What a waste
Doug Davis : Dont hesitate!
Beautiful reel! There are machine marks but only visible from very close and with the light just right. The guy next to you on the stream wont see them! Very smooth, tight tolerances, smooth and even drag. 1/4 inch slack before anti reverse engages but not a problem unless you are after large game like Tarpon, etc. I fish in PA and almost never have my drag engaged. I'd love to have a 20+ inch smallie test the drag, but... I'm sure it would handle it though. Well worth the money!
Amazon Customer : Great looking product !
This reel looks great. I just finished changing the orientation of the retrieve using the included instructions and that went very well. The instructions on making the change were clearly written and accompanied with step by step photos. Overall I am very impressed with the fit and finish of this reel.
I am planning on taking it to Soldotna, Alaska on August 25 through September 3, 2021. I go there every year in search of silver salmon. I plan on having a couple of cameras with me.
Afterward, I plan on editing several videos from the trip.

Della Alcorn : Very smooth, great reel!
Just bought the 5/6 weight reel. Was so impressed with it that I immediately ordered another one. Reel is smooth, well machined, and the drag is infinitely adjustable. It will do well when I use it for large, wild rainbows on the Lower Sacramento River.
Jason stone : Freaking Awesome
Nice reel for the money.... got it yesterday and caught fish today with it. I'm really impressed with this reel

Fishman60 : Great reel, Great price
This reel is more than I expected for the price point. Great machining, drag, smooth, solid. I would put this reel up against reels 2-3 times the price. You won't be disappointed in this reel.
Luis menchaca : Big fish tested!
The reel looks great and functions well it was submerged a few times while fishing the san juan and still worked. The reels drag held up to quite a few big san juan rainbows running up stream. Worth the money if you are on a budget. It competes with my higher end reels. I would definitely recommend and buy again!
