Answer: For years I would fish a bait caster opposite of the way I fished a spinning or spincast reel, that was when I fished with a spinning reel and spincast that is cast with my right hand and reel with my left, and bait caster I would cast with my right switch my left and reel with my right hand, for years that's what people told me to do even though it did not make sense if I typacally reeled with my left and casted with my right hand... BOTTOM LINE IS GET A LEFT HANDED REEL IF YOU ARE RIGHT HANDDED... And opposite if you are left handed

Answer: I am going to answer this question as if it's a serious question from someone who has never fished. I have never heard of a specific rod that is right or left handed. Fishing rods from Abu work for both reel types. Now to the next point a left or right hand reel is not based upon what your dominant hand may be but fishing style or what is more comfortable for you. For example I am left handed but I use right hand retrieve reels. This way I don't have to switch hands when I get ready to cast and for those lucky times when I get a bit as soon as the bait hits the water I am ready to set the hook.

Answer: You don't want to use a reel with such a high ratio for swimbaits. You want to use one that's around 5.4:1 or 6.1:1 for any swimbaits. If you're throwing jigs, then this is the reel you'd want.

Answer: It is always easier to reel a far reel slower than make a slow reel faster. Yes it will with great for everything you want to use it for, you just need to understand what it is your throwing and it's best presentation.

Answer: The main gear is plastic. Many of the reels components are plastic including the reel seat. I use this reel on my 10 1/2 foot float rod loaded with 50 lb. superline for winter run steelhead as well as silver salmon with no problems. If you use it for bass, there should be no problem either. Many of todays plastics are much stronger then years ago.

Answer: I'm not sure... but the reel is junk. Put your money towards a Curado DC or SLX DC, you'll LOVE that reel!

Answer: Great reel, they will keep coming out with new models each year. I have a Revo SX and a Revo MGX that are both several years old and as long as you maintain them they still work great.

Answer: Absolutely not, this reel is still amazing. It’s built very well. The line recovery is unreal and great for recasting after missing a opportunity to bring a fish in. I paired mine with a lews tp1 speed stick and it’s amazing, I’ve received so many compliments on my setup. Great buy and worth every penny.

Let me start by saying this is one of nine Abu Garcia reels that I own, from MGX, Premier, STX, SX Spinning, and a Winch and now the ROCKET!! This is by far the fastest reel I have ever used and the breaking system is also very good, along with the longer carbon fiber handle this thing is very comfortable in the hand. I use mine on a St Croix Mojo Bass "jerkbait-topwater" rod and love the way this reel has made both my topwater walking the dog action as well as my jerkbait action so much better. I believe I'm getting more reaction strikes with the speed this reel picks up line and I know I'm covering more water faster. I'm planning on getting another for my buzz bait and spinnerbait rod in the future. My only complaint is their is no lube port like all my other Abu Garcia reels. I change all my stock bearing out to Boca Orange Seal ceramic bearings and I am sure this adds yards to all my cast!!! Abu Garcia for life!!!!!!!!!!

Offered it to our guide as a tip. He declined. Said he'd never use it.

The product box was dirty and scratched up. Did not look new. Inside the box the reel had dust all over it and it had small amounts of carosion on the bottom running along where the red alloy meets the grey frame. I ordered a replacement and will update my review once replacement arrives.

It looks very durable and I love that your able to reel in 37in of line with just one complete turn.... Sick!. I do look forward to writing another review about this reel once I've had more time with it. Also I was thinking about pairing it with the veracity reel by Abu Garcia, but I think i will go with the lews tp1 speed stick. Even though I think it would look better with the veracity. Hell I might just buy both.

I was lucky enough to get one of these "Revo Rocket 10.1:1" monster reels from AbuGarcia and I couldn't be happier. The construction and engineering of this thing is top notch. It truly is a Rocket. Once you start reeling it in, you are done in the blink of an eye. Its great for flipping and pitching. I also use it for frogging. I paired it up with a 7'-6" Heavy Fast AbuGarcia Vengeance baitcasting rod. They work great together but I feel the reel deserves a better rod. Might get an AbuGarcia Villain with the same specs. The reel itself is very smooth and reminds me of my AbuGarcia Revo Premier. It is very similar in feel and materials. Very lightweight and good looking. But most importantly, it cast a mile. That alone is worth its weight in gold, not to mention all the rest of the positives. It is a reel that I will be using for a long time to come. The components are high end/professional grade. Bracking system is great and the spool is lightweight. Spool tension is easy to use and retrieve is as smooth as butter. The drag system is strong and reliable. Excellent for tournament level fishing. When you need that fast retrieve, you can't beat this reel. Remember, you get what you pay for.
