I am a beginner. Is this fishing rod set easy to assemble? Is there any manual?

Answer: No manual it is easy to assemble but you need to learn how to spool the reel....I just looked that up online. I also had to buy a bobber.

Who has owned the pole for over a year? How well does it perform for lake fishing?

Answer: I have owned one and is has held up surprisingly well. Much better than one I bought from a big box store. My only problem was one of the medal eyelids came loose but I was able to glue it back with gorilla glue and its been fine. I love this rod combo. I keep it in my truck all the time so im always ready to just hit the water if I get the itch to fish.

Whether the reel come with line or I have to buy the line separately

The reel is super smooth and it looks and feels like it's more expensive then what it actually is. The fishing pole itself looks really good and the aluminum parts on the pole look and feel like actual aluminum and not just painted plastic. It's a little bit rough and stiff extending the rod, and felt like the pole was going to break when I tried to close it. When I opened the package it arrived in, the guides were broken off and not attached to the rod at all. As far as being light weight it's not. A full size non collapsible fishing pole weighs less then this one does. I got it in the 7ft 8 inch version and considering it cost $42 before tax and shipping it's a bit of a disappointment that the fit and finish is crappy. The $15 Dock Demom midget fishing poles from walmart are a lot higher quality then this one.

I was really excited about this rod/reel combo when it arrived. It felt lightweight and retracts to a small size, which was what I was looking for. However, when I was loading the reel with fishing line, the tip of the rod feel off... It was broken before I even got to use it. I would be really bummed if I cast with an expensive lure and the flies out with the line or if I have caught a fish. Unfortunately this does not inspire confidence... I found this kit while looking for a backpacking fishing kit. I liked it because it had everything you needed in a handy carrying case. I ordered 1 kit but mistakenly received 2, both of which were broken and obviously returned. Comparing the two, I could see that the problem with both seemed to be the rod. On one, the thin tip was broken off. On the other, the last two rings at the end of the tip of the rod were broken off. The reel is heavy, which may feel nice and solid while fishing, but is a lot of weight for backpacking. The gold paint at the bottom of one of them was already chipping off too. I can’t say how it actually performed since I never got to take it out, but based on the two returned kits I received, it doesn’t look like it would last very long. The rod is the part that seems to be the issue. I returned both and didn’t reorder.

So we did catch a fish with god pole but the knob that screws onto the reel handle feel off mid cast. Made reeling in super annoying as the handle would keep falling out.

For $60 I’d expect something that will stay out together for more then an hour.

As for the quality of the experience, it was a smooth feel on the reel when it did work, and no issues catching fish. Both me and my son landed one before it broke

I really needed an anti- salted fishing rod because try it in seawater.This rod has made it so good.It hardly takes up any space. It is very sturdy and well made. All the pieces that loosen/tighten are made of metal so you don't have to worry about them wearing out or cracking under pressure.

So I've actually had trouble with the Rod and it's extending feature. I've had this for a month now and even ordered a replacement thinking maybe I had a faulty one.

The rod extends well but it gets jammed when you're trying to elongate it. To collapse it is extremely difficult. It's worth the buck but considering I got it because it was portable in their nice bag then this gets the downvote. Will be returning.

Good reel super smooth, came with great accessories, case, bag. Careful collapsing the pole and don't press it back into the eyelids. I accidentally did it to hard and the eyelid came undone. Contacted the company if i can just purchase a new rod only. They wrote back and sent me a full set for free! It was my fault and was willing to pay, they shipped it out right away no questions asked. Got the new pole and put epoxy resin to harden the eyelids and can collapse it into them now, if not just push the poles in one piece at a time and don't put the pressure of collapsing on the eyelids. New one is super light and sturdy, I get compliments on it all day.
