If i buy the blackhawk 2 which reel woul be best?

Answer: I recently purchased the KastKing Lancelot 2000 and coupled with a 6.9 ultra light rod and the first cast caught a nice bass. Using P/line 6# test this reel is my favorite. I have 40 other rigs of top brands and this KastKing is smooth and I have used it more than the others without issues.

The reel itself was priced really well for being a 3000 series reel. I needed a second reel to use for catching baitfish for my other setup. This reel feels nice and not cheap like those Chinese variants. The drag is very audible and is very smooth to reel.

Really, you can't go wrong with this for $20 (or whatever it's going for right now). No, it's not the most technologically advanced reel with the most ball bearings or things like that. But if you want a budget reel that is not absolute crap, you can't really go wrong with this one. I bought the lightest one for an light line setup, and it is a pleasure to use.

Yami : Short Lived Smoothness

After first use I noticed it was not so smooth anymore. It became harder and noisier after every fishing trip. After the 4th trip I decided it was time to throw it away since I had had it for ~40 days and I could not return it anymore. I decided to disassemble it before throwing it away. I found that it has 3 ball bearings. Those bearings are not shielded and they were all rusted and seized. I tried cleaning, lubricating, etc. Nothing worked. The 3 bearings have become bushings. The reel still turns, but it is not smooth at all anymore.

Received today, put line on and went fishing. Very smooth, and had no issues reeling anything in. I got the 2000 series to use in mostly creeks. Caught a few small mouth and one trout. So far couldn’t be happier. If something changes I will update. This is my 4th KastKing reel, and I’m very happy with them all
Update: I will reduce my rating to 4 stars. It is still a good reel, but fished for trout 4 straight days, all day, and now since the newness has worn off, or grease has started breaking down it has a little grinding sound, still reels good and all, but kinda sounds like a plastic on plastic sound
New update: very disappointing, reel is all but useless, froze up on last trip out to the creek. I have other KastKing reels and they are above expectations, this one will have to go in the trash now.

This is my first KastKing reel and I got the S3000 as I wanted to get a larger reel to use for largemouth bass in GA. Paired it with Cabela's Fish Eagle Light Rod 6'6". The reel feels very solid and is smooth and fast and works well with the rod. Still new to me but I will come back and update with more details as I fish more with it this summer.

I ordered the 4000 series and could not be more happy with it. I ordered it to withstand the long hikes and big fish the boundary waters of Minnesota offers and it did just that. It is as smooth as can be and I have not had a single problem with it even with the taxing conditions I have put my reel through.

This review is of my initial impressions if the Kastking Lancelot 2000 Series reel. For $25 I'm very impressed. The fit and finish is top tier, and the reeling motion is incredibly smooth and it feels so sturdy for being so light weight. I'm thoroughly impressed. Compared to what you can get for $25 in a big box store, this seems to be the best sub $30 value. I will keep this review updated as I get to test the longevity of the reel.

Edit 05/20/19: I've been hitting the lake hard since I got this reel. I've probably landed close to 45 crappie and slab bluegill since I purchased this reel. I was so impressed with it, I bought the Brutus to try. It's pretty nice, but the Lancelot is better in all regards. I like this reel so much I bought a 4000 series for my catfish rig. The catfish rig is gonna get used, and abused and beat to hell, so I will be back to report how it holds up. But I cannot recommend this reel enough.

KL : It’s a $25 reel. What can you expect?

The reel gears rusted really quickly. I used it saltwater shore fishing about three times, and always remove the spool to rinse off the salt in the reel, as I’ve done with my 12-year old reel. This one is seized shut, but old reel, never oiled or greased, is still spinning strong. Now the Kast King is sitting in vinegar with an attempt to remove the rust to oil. I read and watched a lot of good reviews about Kast King products. Pretty disappointed.

Out of the box, this seems to be a pretty good quality reel. It reels smoothly, but at some positions, the bale seems to stick open after casting and doesn’t click over as smoothly as I’d like. However, this is a $20 reel and for that price, it would be very hard to beat the quality of this one. I’m going to throw some Ardent reel butter on there and see if that corrects the issue!

I enjoyed fishing with this reel. No issues. I neglected to secure it well on the drive home, and lost it out of the pickup a mile from home. I back tracked and found it sitting in the road, only to watch a "dooley" truck, with a bit box trailer, run over it before I could get to it. The thing is, after bending the handle back straight and bending the bale back into somewhere near the original shape, it works like a champ still. That's right! Ran over by a truck, and it still works!

I have a Kastking Centron 4000 reel and I'm really satisfied . I needed smaller reel for second rod and I decided to take a reel from the same manufacturer. I bought Lancelot 2000 and i'm so disappointed. I can believe that is the same manufacturer. This reel is a rubbish. After one month of use it become so hard to reel, like someone put a glue inside.

It is fairly smooth, but doesnt feel amazing.

It doesnt wow me. I probably wont get another kast king, but I will throw this reel on a cheap 20 dollar rod and let other people use it when I take them fishing.

I think maybe the reason this reel and the brutus have such good reviews is because kastking offers free fishing line if you leave a review. (At least they did to me-there was a little instruction card in the box)

I like kastking products and thought I would give this reel a try. I have 2 baitcasters and 2 spinning reels from kastking that have worked flawless for the past year. This one not so much! I haven't been able to use it much and when I finally got it out to fish (fresh water) I noticed a rough and grinding noise when reeling in. I took it home and took it apart to inspect, a bearing was full of rust so I thought I could clean it up and oil. The grinding noise has cut to half since but I think I got a bad reel. I hope it's just a fluke since my other kastkings reels have worked well.

Reel seems of excellent quality, casts and reels great. Anti-reverse and drag work perfectly. I've only had it a few days, and will update if anything malfunctions, but it works very well right now.

Really nice product for what you pay. Mine arrived with a small crack in the internal white plastic insert that cogs with the reel handle's opposite threaded side. Doesn't seem to impact performance though. I wound the reel with 8lb line and while doing so it started to emit a rubbing metal/metal sound - I added some lubricant to the bail bearing and it solved the problem. Still a little friction you can hear, but its at expectations for the price point (better even). Will have to wait and see how it holds up over time though - seems well built (some plastic components), and I expect it should at least last 1-2 years of regular use without much trouble... probably longer.

I’m a Kastking fanboy. I bought the 2000 & 3000. I like the way it looks and feels right out of the box. My experience so far is that the reel tends to freeze up after every single outing. I lent one to my buddy who used it for two trips and probably forgot to rinse it and the anti-reverse bearing with the unsealed adjacent bearings have all rusted terribly. Unless you enjoy tinkering with your reel, this is not for you.
