Answer: Yes! I use 12 pound line. It doesn’t matter what kind you use. I’ve had braid, mono, and fluro on this reel. This is a great baitcaster if this is your first, just have the brakes turned on high to start with.

Got this reel as a "Happy Father's Day to me" present. Mounted it on a super cheap 7' 2pc MH rod, spooled it up with Trilene XL 17lb mono and tied on a 3/4oz Jig head hook with a 5" Senko. This thing rips! Got it dialed in and I'm doing no thumb casts way way out there. The first dozen or so casts were way further than I gauged based on the reel I replaced. Once I got used to the new distance I can land this thing on a dime. Love it! So worth every penny even if longevity proves to be an issue. Can't beat it for the money :)

I needed a good reel quickly when I realized my old one was damaged. This came in next day. The holes on the spindle were great, allowing me to avoid the electrical tape fix with braided line to prevent slipping. Took some doing, but got the line through and tied it off so NO SLIP! Once I got the brakes and drag adjusted, i found I could cast a lot farther than I could on my old shimano reel. Very pleased and will buy again if/when I need to.

The reel came packaged really nice, you can tell KastKing has put a lot of effort and money into marketing and their products. The reel itself looks great and is very smooth, the drag adjustments, brake, and tension knob all operate as they should. The finish of the product is very well done and my reel did not have any dings or damage whatsoever. This is just the first of many KastKing reels I will buy as I have purchased and used a lot of their braided line and have not had a single issue as of yet.

For the price, this is a good bait casting reel. This reel is decently smooth but does make some little noises (seems get better after break in). Build quality/finishes seem to be very good for the price. The magnet system is easy to use but the tension knob leaves a little to be desired (not terrible, but does not have great range). My plan was to buy a cheap baitcaster and see how I like it before dropping money on a pricey one. Someday I may buy another reel, but not for long. This reel is awesome!!
You do need to practice if you’ve never used a baitcaster. I spent some time in a parking lot casting and casting. Then untangling a birds nest, then casting again. It does take some skill to use this type of reel, but when you get it down, it is so nice! I’ve never been able to place a cast like I can with this reel.
I like this brand so much I bought a KastKing spinner too, but I hardly use it! Lol
This was starting off to see if I wanted to change my reel, now this KastKing baitcaster is my first choice when I go fishing.
Pair this baitcaster and my Berkeley rod, and using a H&H double spinner, I almost feel bad for the bass in my area... almost.

This reel is awesome, this is my first baitcaster. I’ve used spinning reels for most of yrs I have fished. It is a learning curve though, but on my first time goin fishing with it I had a lot of good casts and the only time it backlashed was when I didn’t use my thumb consistently throughout the cast. I even casted quite a few times 30 yards or so and got it into some tight spaces under tree branches. This reel has good brakes an you definitely can fine tune this enough to go from a beginner to an experienced angler. I own quite a bit of stuff by kastking and they have good quality products for the price. This reel is no different, whether your new to baitcasters or experienced you should definitely buy one of these.

This is my first baitcasting reel so I didn't want to spend much money on one and find out I didn't want to use it after the first few tries. Read the reviews on many reels in this price range and decided on KastKing. I picked it up to use mostly as a frog setup for bass fishing. I liked the red and black color scheme as it matches the rod I have it on. So far it has performed well considering my lack of experience. I have only done one birds nest so far which took about 15 minutes to clear. My fault as I started to reduce the drag and went a little too far that time. I am sure once I get more comfortable with using it and some more experience I will be able to cast farther and more accurately. For the money I would say this is a good value. How long it will hold up? I am not sure as I only have it a short time as of this review.

For starters, I was a little hesitant purchasing a reel off of Amazon. I usually like to see what I'm getting in person when it comes to my rods/reels. So I did drop this down to a three star. I used it for about two weeks not sure if I got a faulty one or what happened but the gear/retrieve started to slip. While it worked it worked great, I am returning it and I’ll probably just get a different brand just to be safe.
