Does the spool tension knob clicks?

Answer: No I don't believe it does I sent the 2 back I got worst reel ever not worth it

Will this work on a shimano glf 7 foot rod?

Answer: Yes it will work on that rod. I’d recommend using a light/medium rod with a fast action. I personally use this reel for a Texas rig. Don’t throw anything heavy over 1/2 oz tho. It doesn’t do well with braided line either. At least my experience with it.

Answer: Yes...as long as it's a Bait casting rod not a spinning rod. How you can tell the difference between them is Bait casting rods have a finger tab that stick out on the rod where the reel mounts. Spinning rods do not have the finger tab.

Answer: I don't know if there is anything special about your Shimano but I have it set up on a 7' rod (Lew's) and it works just fine.

Answer: it is not design for saltwater it don't have sealed bearing it would rust

Answer: I didn’t measure it but it’s a really compact reel, I would say it’s similar to a 70 or 80 size reel. It’s the smallest reel that I have, smaller than my KK royal elite and Diawa tatula ct

Answer: I'm not sure of the actual Dims, but this reel is low profile. It isn't bulky at all. This reel is very light and fits your hand nicely.

Answer: Only when I have a small backlash that I didn’t know about

What size rod should use?

Answer: That is completely up to you. I personally used a 7" and longer rod because I'm not looking for supreme control of my baits. I'm not looking to pitch under some over hang or under a dock. I'm looking for more distance from the bank. If you were to need to fish like that, I would use probably something like a 6.5 footer. Good luck out there!

Answer: I have a couple of rods, but if I had a choice of only one all round do everything rod, I would go for. Medium Heavy 7'3" to 7'6. My specific rod is. 7'6" KastKing MH Perigee. If it breaks I will buy it again.

Is it for salt water

Answer: If you are catching Reds or Snook etc. But if you are going open water where you never know what will take your hook, you might consider something more surf orientated. What I know is that this reel at the price you get it for and the size of fish I have caught with it over and over down in Tampa, you cannot go wrong. I cast that reel a mile using 40lbs braid with a 30lb P-Line leader. This is my no. 1 go to reel. My Abu Garcia Silver is not used much since I got this KastKing. I can recommend their Perigee rods too. Great bang for your buck.

Answer: This is a fresh water reel. It does not do well with heavy line. I use 10lbs mono

I travel a lot regionally for work and have several Blackhawk II rods that are easy to just toss in the car. I added this to my two spinning blackhawk rods. Baitcasting reels are fun to use and this one fits well in the hand, casts well, and once setup get minimum backlash. would recommend for sure.

This is a beautiful reel from kastking. The brakes and casting is amazing. The only thing I have a slight complaint about is the fact that the line can get caught in between the spool and case of the reel when it birds nest. Definitely a great reel for $50 though.

Took a little extra time getting the reel dialed in but after that it casts a country mile. Very light weight and small frame makes palming the reel easy even for smaller hands. Great reel for most techniques other than heavy applications like frogging or flipping where you want a metal frame. All around solid solid reel that I would definitely buy again

Reel has good drag, high gear, and is affordable.
Reel feels like it'll break where it's held down by the rod. (Sometime feel like it's going to break when I set the hook and reel hard, using to punch mats)
Reel couldn't cast well sometimes after adjustments, better casting with heavier weight on.
When drag is tighten, the drag adjustment wheel is wobbly.
When casting reel seems to be noisy. Like slight scraping noise. ( reel is greased and oil before using)
Love how small it is, very low pro (imo)
In comparison of the budget
KastKing Valiant Eagle, Id say it's similar to the Abu Garcia BlackMax. Cast similar and feels similar. Between the two I'd pick the Kastking Valiant Eagle. I'm kinda disappointed that the drag wheel was wobby when tighten down and that casting was slightly noisy.

Happy with this reel, looks awesome and reels like my other KK reels ( this is my 3rd KK casting reel ).

Note: This is the first KK reel out of the box that felt a little stiff and loud when reeling so I opened it up completely and sure enough it was bone dry internally. Thankfully I have reel grease and oil and was able to get the gears greased and the bearings oiled. Again, my past KK reels (spinning and casting) have came out of the box pre-greased and oiled but for some reason this one didn’t. Either way, it is now ready to go and I am happy with my purchase from KK as usual.

Meh......it's ok. I have kastking royal legend II and Mega jaws reels they are much better in my opinion. I had to turn the brakes all the way off in order to get a decent cast. There are better reels out there similarly priced.

Just pulled it out of the box feels amazing. I’m sure like the other kast king reels I have it will work amazing too.

Update: tried it out in the yard long story short using a 3/4oz jig and without much spool tension (lure drops faster than you would normally set it) set mag brake on as little as 7 and you don’t have any backlashes. And I’m making 65 yard casts with that set up.

Update 2: after fishing this reel for a while idk. The swing wing cover isn’t tight against the body anymore. Haven’t noticed that be any kind of issue at all but other than that the thing really does still cast like a dream and after catching 35ish bass average around 3lbs and a few 5-7lbs it’s functionality really good. Somewhere along the line though I feel like somethings going to happen with that swing wing.

I finally used this, first baitcaster ever used. It birds nested on me 3 times, but once i got the hang of it, it didnt happen again, and ZERO wind knots (line was KastKing 20lbs braided). VERY happy with this product and will definitely buy another one this summer.

Conr@n50 : Once you have this reel, a lot of the "name brand" reëls start feeling like rip-offs.

This reel is worth it's weight in gold. I would definitely buy it again. In fact, I am switching all my gear to JastKing. I use this reel on a 7'6" Perigee II MH fast tip rod. I do EVEEYTHING with it. If you want to spent more on a "better reel" or rod, go ahead, it is your money wasted. It casts a mile and runs as smooth as a Japanese superbike engine.
