Epixor XT Spinning Reel
Latest in technology
The Okuma Epixor XT spinning reels are the next generation of a long standing family of spinning reels within the Okuma lineup. Today’s anglers want lightweight reels that they can cast all day and strength and durability to turn and stop even the feistiest of fish. The Expixor XT reels utilize advanced technologies to create both exceptional feel and rock solid durability. The Epixor XT spinning reels were designed with the latest technology and insight from leading fishermen around the country. The Epixor XT features graphite side plates and rotor, and Okuma’s C-40X long-strand carbon fiber construction on its TCA- Torsion Control Armor frame design. Another key technology in the Epixor XT reels is the slow oscillation system. This slower oscillation system gives an exceptional line lay upon retrieve and is optimized for use with braided line.
The Epixor XT spinning reels brings its technology to three key sizes. A 20, 30, and 40 size reel. The three sizes all contain eight total stainless steel bearings and depending on reel size, between 11-19lbs of drag out of its multi-disc, Japanese oiled felt drag washers.
The key features on the Epixor XT spinning reels include the Torsion Control Armor which increases strength and reduces frame twist. The slow oscillation system and cyclonic flow rotor keep your line lay even and dry. The Epixor XT also has a metal handle design as well as machined aluminum 2-tone anodized spool with LCS lip to reduce wind knots.

Questions about Okuma Epixor XT Lightweight Graphite Frame 8 Ball Bearing Aluminum Spool Freshwater Spinning Reel
Q:
Anybody else lookung at this reel because of Tackle Advisor?
Answer: Yep. Line lay won me over. If Tackle Advisors says it’s good-I’m in. If this egg beater is better than my Ceymar c30- I’ll be one happy Smalljaws fisherman????????
Answer: No, I have various okuma reels and like them all.
Answer: No, just needed a good reel for panfish and white bass. I also use okuma inspira reels for bass and love them. Haven’t used this one yet.
Answer: Yes,I trust his opinion and for $36 it's hard to pass up.. I have received my 40,it's in good condition. I'm just waiting on a Shadow Stalker rod for it now.
Answer: Yea haha. Deal keeps getting better and better.
Q:
What’s the max drag on it?
Answer: 20 pounds
Q:
It is saltwater approved?
Answer: Sort of. It's got a graphite body and drag seal but that's it - def not able to be dunked. Light splashes are ok, but need to rinse after use(as with all reels)
Answer: Yes it is! That’s what I’m using it for. Just make sure you rinse your reel off with clean water after every use.
Q:
What reel size would be recommended for me to buy for catching chinook and coho salmon?
Answer: I too would recommend the 55. These are not large reels. I initially bought the 30’s for Grunts and small Snapper, then returned them for the 40’s.
Answer: I have used a size 40 and caught both Chinook and Cohos with lime to spare. Still I prefer line capacity for both of these fish so I will trade a little bit of a heavier reel for increased line capacity. I am sure a size 30 would also work as long as you don’t use too heavy of a line.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I would be looking at the 55-size as it will provide you with the most cranking power, drag output as well as line capacity for that application.
Answer: Not this reel, too lightweight
Answer: Talk to a qualified sporting goods person in the area you are going to fishing.
Answer: 7000
Answer: Biggest possible (55)
Q:
Is this reel braid reedy?
Answer: This reel doesn't have a rubber ring gasket to make it "braid ready". You can go without mono backing, but it's usually recommended to back braid with mono to prevent slippage. Hope this helps!
Answer: Yes it is. I have 20lb sufix braid on mine.
Q:
Are the yardage and pound test ratings on these reels based on mono or braid?
Answer: Mono.
Answer: Not sure if it's accurate either way. If it's helpful, I would use the Shimano sizing to help pick your reel (if you're familiar!) - from the ones I have: a 20 size is the same as a 1000 Shimano, the 30 size is the same as a 2500 Shimano, and the 40 feels just a big smaller than a 4000 Shimano.
Q:
Se puede utilizar para pesca en agua salada????
Answer: Yes you can fish in salt water
Q:
What is the drag for 30 model?
Answer: The EPXT-30 reel has a max drag of 17.6 lbs
Answer: The Epixor 30 has 17.5lb drag A lot for a 30 sized reel.
Q:
need to know line capacity in monofilament
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry - The monofilament line capacity for the 30-size is as follows: 240/6, 200/8, 160/10.
Answer: The EPXT-30 has a line capacity of (yds/lbs.) - 240/6 , 200/8 , 110/6
Answer: https://www.okumafishing.com/en/product/epixor-spinning-reel.html
Q:
How much Drag does the Series 40 have?
Answer: Hi the epixor 40 front drag has about 10 kg of drag ,it is a very smooth drag allowing for fish to run whilst your in control if you buy one you will be impressed .
Answer: why? What are u gona catch with it? It has 6 drag washers like most reels - 3 carbon and 3 metal
Q:
What is the line capacity in flourocarbon fishing line for epxt-30
Answer: the line capacity in mono or fluoro for the Epxt -30 is 240/6 , 200/8, 160/10 .
Answer: Fluorocarbon capacity is not stated on the box. It states 10 LBS is 160 YDS but doesn’t specify line type.
Q:
Can this reel be paired with a 10' surfcasting rod and fished
Answer: You can pair it with the 10' surf rod but you will be limited on casting distance due to the line capacity. I would suggest a 40-50 size reel with 20-30lb braid to a fluro or monofilament leader.
Answer: Nothing stopping you. Though even at a size 40, I reckon it might be a tad bit too small. It would be like fishing a 3000 sized Shimano reel - could only work if the 10' rod was a light surf rod (3-5kg).
Answer: It’s a bit small for a 10’ it will feel awkward. You will need more of a 5000 reel
Answer: It is too small for that. Go to utube and watch review from channel i_fish
Q:
What’s size are the “one size an unknown “
Answer: It says in the description a Ext 55
Q:
Why does the 55 series show the damn power handle? Only the 55p has that handle. Please correct this because this us false advertising.
Q:
Is this braid ready?
Answer: no its not braid ready
Answer: You could use braid line but I would put some mono backing on the line first (to save money). However a super line (like Berkeley fireline) will cast better and can be kept on the reel for years without deteriorating.
Q:
is this 55 with paddle handle or 55P with Power Handle?
Answer: The EPXT-55 is the standard handle. The EPXT-55P features the power handle. It looks like this ad is for the standard 55 with the paddle handle.
Answer: paddle
Q:
Is the handle reversible?
Answer: Yes the handles on all our spinning reels are reversible.
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes it is reversible and tightens up nicely ,very smooth reel but a bit smaller in size than the diawa bg 4000
Answer: Yes, There is a white plastic insert that you will have to remove with a small pick or screwdriver.
Answer: Yes, very easy no tools required. just untighten then retighten with fingers.
Answer: Absolutely!
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes it is.
Answer: yes it is.
Q:
Would this be a good reel for trout fishing with 10lb braided main line or should I go a size smaller? Thanks!
Answer: For trout fishing with 10lb braided line, I would suggest the EPXT-20 which is the smallest size we offer in that series.
Answer: I use the EXPT-20 for trout fishing with an UL rod and it works well. I have not held the EXPT-30, but I think it would be too large, I like the reel and use 4lb mono, I don't like braid very much for trout fishing, but it would be a good match wih the reel. Good luck fishing!
Answer: I have the 20. It's your average size reel for most casting applications. It's slightly larger than other 20s I've had in the past. You could easily use it for trout but the smaller size may be more appropriate. I run 12 lb braid on mine
Answer: The size 20 is great with 10# or 8# braid
Answer: I would go smaller, doubt you would need this much drag and line capacity for trout. I would re-think the 10lb braid as well as you will need to cast very small lures for most trout fishing.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I've got one of these and have 15lb braid on it. No issues.
Answer: Yes.
Q:
Is the knob replacable? (I really dont like foam knobs)
Answer: Its replaceable but I don't see anybody offering Okuma aftermarket parts.
Q:
What size would be best for salmon?
Answer: I would use the 20 or 30 with braid -- the 30 or 40 if you are using 17 plus mono
Q:
How many yards of #10 braid will the expt 20 hold?
Answer: My size 20 holds a full spool (150 yards) of 10# power pro.... no backing
Q:
Is the handle reversible?
Answer: Yes the handles on all our spinning reels are reversible.
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes it is reversible and tightens up nicely ,very smooth reel but a bit smaller in size than the diawa bg 4000

Answer: Very light weight.
Q:
Does it have a switch for turning on and off the anti reverse?
Answer: Yes. There is an anti reverse switch located on the bottom side of the frame.
Answer: Yes, you can turn off anti reverse
Answer: I'm not 100% sure but I'm sure it has ,checkout a guy on you tube called tackle advisor does brilliant reel reviews without trying to sell to you .He has done a full review on the epixor xt well worth the time spent watching .
Answer: Yes it does. Been a great reel! Caught a 12 1/2 lb. brown trout with it.
Answer: No
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Is the "one size" the size 30?
Answer: The reel shown is a 30 size Epixor spinning reel.
Answer: I'm pretty sure. I did receive a size 30. Also, if you select the One-Size option, then scroll down to Product info, it states that it is a -30.
Q:
Can you switch the handle to the right hand side on this reel?
Answer: I have the EPXT-40 and doesn't switch to the right side.
Answer: Yes handle can be for left or right.
Answer: Yes you just unscrew it and pull it out and flip it over
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes you can
Q:
What is the warranty on this reel?
Answer: If the reel is bought from a UK okuma official seller / dealer or a European seller it should have a 12 month warranty and if you buy it on line and your not happy you can return it within 30 days I buy mine from Amazon UK and USA dependant on price and delivery cost plus import tax these epixor black and gold reels are far superior than the blue and silver ones and worth the extra couple of pounds ,have several and used hard and still as smooth as the day they came out of box ,fresh water usage only ,good all rounder is the 40 size but 30 is great for light spinning
Answer: The Epixor EPXT reel is backed by a one year warranty.

Product reviews of Okuma Epixor XT Lightweight Graphite Frame 8 Ball Bearing Aluminum Spool Freshwater Spinning Reel
paul : Nice reel
I figured for the money I would take the risk, well, after using it and catching several walleye and pike, I am sold and buying another reel to replace an older one. Very nice reel, and a lot cheaper than I am used to spending.
Sheri : reel crapped out AFTER the return period :-(
I was a bit concerned when I first bought it. It had a bit of a knock to it that I didn’t like after about 100 cash it seems to smooth out and so far it’s working quite well.
UPDATE: After a short period of time the reel is not working at all. This of course happened after return period was over. So upset, I love my Okuma Ceymar and really thought this one was going to be great also.
Gene Donovan : Expensive features, at a not so expensive price!
Excellent reel for the money! Im impressed with the line lay on the spool. Using braid on lesser model reels I would often experience tangles and knots. The Epixor casts smooth every time with no issues. It operates smooth, and the drag is very precise. I will update my review if I do find any faults, but for now... it's just an awesome reel for the money!
dgh : great handle, rigid frame construction
This real at this price ($45 @ ToP) is incredible ! Smooth casting & drag, great handle, rigid frame construction.
Already caught a few 2-3 lbs bass with it and it's been fine~
GSD : Awesome value for a solid reel.
Spins well, drag is consistent, and so far as been smooth. It isn’t as light as my other reel (Daiwa Fuego LT 3000) but it’s just BARELY heavier. Performs the same at half the price. Let’s be honest, you’re not that great of an angler. Jk.
Kim Newland : Do your research
There is nothing light about this reel. Okuma puts out a good product, but you need to do your research to understand the weight.
Johnny sandberg : Hit or miss
Great value if you get a good one
DesertScottAZ : FABULOUS REEL!
I've used them all... All brands, a ton of models and there's always something to nit pick apart on most reels, except this one. This thing is as close to perfect as I've seen. The china brands always have issues, even the expensive ones. I have one of the top of the line KK spinning reels and the drag sticks, then works as expected. I've blown out knots on hook sets because I thought the drag was right. The okuma is buttery smooth. I have a ton of confidence using this reel and over the moon that I can stop searching for a "good" reel. Maybe I got a diamond, but I'm super happy with it. From 4 lbs mono with fingerling trout to 8 lbs striper on big braid, this thing just works.
slowsuki : the best reel under 200 bucks you can buy ...
best reel under 200 bucks you can buy . if it isn't the smoothest reel you have used then there probably is an issue with the shiming , cause when they are shimmed right it is like butter , reason i mention shimming is because i got one i had to fool around with the drive gear shimming to get it right ....

This reel is awesome! Really light and the features on this is great. Good drag on it too

jean chagnon : Très bien construit
Belle qualité
Jesse : Excellent reel for it's size
Took this reel for king salmon fishing in Alaska. It definitely performed well with nice drag. Fought with around 30 fish and landed about a dozen to 30#. However the reel bail is now on the down position. Need to find out the warranty on this.
fishing fanatic : Good first impression
I have just used this reel once so far, but I did get a good initial impression putting it to the test against a few slab crappies, pound and smaller bass, some bluegill, and a four-pound channel that thought a beetle spin would be the perfect meal. I have it spooled with 5lb Power Pro. The one negative review likely did something to help create the problem that was mentioned and I left a comment there trying to help that person out.
Johnny sandberg : Hit or miss

Jimmy Kinney : Great teel
Works great
John Bowman : Looked good until I got three one snarls in the first hour
After using my old Epixor for years, I really wanted to love the new model. Out of the box I did - solid, smooth, great bail, good line lay, great price. After fishing a favorite spot two nights with my Daiwa Regal, I took the Epixor XT out for a spin. Same rod, same weight line spooled same way, same lures, hardly any wind, always close bail by hand, same guy casting same way - virtually identical conditions. Had a huge line snarl within 15 casts. Cut it out, had another within 15 min. Cut it out and gave up after the third knot awhile later. The thing just creates braid snarls and knots for me. I have not had one snarl on the Daiwai Regal 3000rg-ab in many days casting lures in all kinds of wind conditions and directions. Not so much with the Epixor. Waste of $ for me, hope you have better luck. Tight lines!

vasvi bekir : mr
Perfect reel for spinning
Cody : Best budget reel I've ever used
I love this reel. I got it for under $40 and it feels like I stole it. I like it more than my $100 Daiwa BG2500.
So far I've fished the 3000 size for about a month. I've caught a few 30+ inch Black Drum, lots of big Jack Crevalle, Sheepshead and tons of other fish on it. It's handled them all with ease. I've even dunked it in saltwater a few times on my kayak and it's still as smooth as the day I opened it.
All that being said, there are a few things to note about the reel.
1. They run small. The 3000 is more like a 2000.
2. The rotor and body feel like plastic. That's to be expected at this price and is also what makes the reel so light, but durability is a concern.
3. The drag slips. Not terribly, but it happens.
4. The bail doesn't flip shut smoothly when reeling. It sticks often and I have to close it with my hand.
5. The line holder sucks.
6. You'll see people saying you shouldn't use braid with this reel. They're wrong. I've put hundreds of casts on this reel with 15 lb braid and haven't had any tangles or wind knots.
In summary, this reel isn't perfect, but it performs as well as reels twice its price.
HHP : Smooth, Powerful Reel
I really like this reel, Okuma is very underrated. Absolutely silent in use and very smooth operation. Been using the 30 size with 12 lb P Line CX premium. Really love the positive "click" you hear and feel when opening or closing the bail.
John Bowman : Looked good until I got three one snarls in the first hour

Reis woodford : Great for the price! But hanle fits alittle loose
Bought the 40 a couple days ago received it a day b4 it was expected to arrive so that's awesome! The reel looks great vary smooth to reel but the handle that goes into the barings fits alittle loose kinda bummed about that! Haven't had time to use it much yet so I'll add more when I do
Snickers C. : Great light weight powerful small reel epxior 55 size
Greet reel in the 55 size it is still very small I used 230 yard on the nose of 20lb braid that is smaller then the penn 4000 size reels it is compared almost to the 5000 shimano size
This reel in the 55 size is butter smooth as like a shimano nice bail very strong reel it’s shielded bearing are good for salt water use I have seen u tube video of this reel being used and abused on u tube from Elias kyack fisherman and loves it
chim cánh cut : like they have sands inside the gears
I ordered this before the Daiwa Exceler , found it's smooth but the handle knob is loose on mine , I am now regretting that I returned it already, I could have open the knob and tighten the screw, because 2 of my Daiwa exceler LT came both has grinding noise... that's really weird. like they have sands inside the gears ... while this is fairly smoother and cheaper. construction is pretty solid.
Jack : Best reel for the price
Best fishing reel ever, had it for 2 years works like new, ordered another one last month for a friend best reel for the price????
HHP : Smooth, Powerful Reel
I really like this reel, Okuma is very underrated. Absolutely silent in use and very smooth operation. Been using the 30 size with 12 lb P Line CX premium. Really love the positive "click" you hear and feel when opening or closing the bail.
Erik P. : Easily outperforms the price
I have not had this long enough to appraise durability but so far it has stood up to every challenge it’s faced. Caught steelhead, bass, and lake trout with 10lb PowerPro and a medium power rod and experienced no issues whatsoever.
Ian : The Best Spinning Reel for the Price
I have owned a lot of spinning reels. My favorite of which have been from the Okuma Avenger series. I heard really good things about this reel from a close friend and decided to pick it up. I'm absolutely stunned by the build quality of this reel. I've fished this inshore as well as on the beach and it hasn't let me down once. I'd definitely recommend pairing this with 7' or 7'6" inshore rod. If you're considering getting one just go for it. You will not find a better reel for under $100.
Ghub : Great reel!
Great reel. Very smooth.
D. E. Bash : I used 15 lb. braid on it and it's perfect for all the fishing I do.
Light wait but strong.
Antonio Gaspar : Five Stars
Awesome reel
Miles Patterson : Bi mart win
I like it more than my Shimano Shahar. I even would say better then the president reel. Line lay is great out of the box super smooth reading. Zero noise.
Guy Bergeron : Tout est parfait !!!!
Livraison très rapide !!!! Moulinet super !!!!
Charles Craft : Best value on the market
Very solid feel. Excellent drag for the money.
AD : Yup. Tackle advisors is right. 55 size better for light shore rods
It’s just like tackle advisors and Elias say. Solid reel very smooth for the price. Used it all year from my kayak in salt, but putting the 55 on a 9’ shore rod now. Just too big on 7’ M-MH kayak rods.
The handle has, as everyone says, too much play. But it’s noticeable when you’re staring at the reel and fiddling with it and not fishing
Kim Newland : Do your research
There is nothing light about this reel. Okuma puts out a good product, but you need to do your research to understand the weight.
Johnny sandberg : Smooth
Good for the price but don't expect to hold up long if you fish hard.
JR : Impressive!
Very smooth reel. Great value for the money!
AD : Yup. Tackle advisors is right. 55 size better for light shore rods
