Questions about Fish scale, Dr.meter Backlit LCD Display 110lb/50kg PS01 Fishing Scale with Measuring Tape, Electronic Balance Digital Fishing Postal Hanging Hook Scale with 2 AAA Batteries-Fishing Gifts for Men
Q:
How do you hook the fish?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: The best way to make this scale useful for weighing fish is to grind the hook on the scale. I like to release my fish immediately after I catch them. I like to measure and weigh the larger ones. If you grind the mounting hook at an angle on the tip it will hold the fish by the mouth much easier. I never weigh fish by their gills because the gill covers were not designed to hold the weight and will tear on larger fish. I live in South Florida. I catch mostly freshwater species like largemouth bass and all of our exotics (Mayan cichlids, peacock bass, etc) this is a good scale for that purpose if you modify the S hook.
Answer: The least amount of handling of a fish you are releasing is best for the fish, of course. If the net you are using doesn't have a very long handle, or if using a lip gripper, weigh that first or use the tare function to zero out its weight, then weigh the fish with the net or attached to the lip gripper.
Answer: Set the hook
Answer: I like to use this one in combination with a plastic lip gripper so that I don't put any holes through the bigger ones' lips.
Answer: You can also use a large bag (IKEA bag) so you don't have to put it in their gills
Answer: Spit on your cricket first!
Answer: Use good/great bait and dangle it in many places until you find 'em.
Answer: patience
Answer: Carefully
Q:
How precise is this scale in the range under 2lb/1kg ?
Answer: I tested it using canned food products with labeled weights - it would randomly vary 1 to 3 oz. more or less than the indicated weight. There didn't seem to be any consistency that I could rely on; i.e., if the product weighed 16 oz., it would weigh more one time and less the next time I weighed it.
Answer: Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. I don't have a calibrated scale to test the accuracy of this one. I put a few small items on the scale hook to see if it would register and it seem to be very accurate.
Answer: Absurd question. Why would i carry another scale to check this one? The product is garbage anyway so who knows.
Answer: Seems accurate. For pounds it measures in tenths. So it will say 1.2 pounds or .4 pounds. Not ounces.
Q:
how do i weigh a large heavy bag
Answer: just lift the bag with the scale. I did notice that one reviewer mentioned the handle on the scale was too small but I haven't had that problem. The only problem I could foresee is if the hook was too small for the handle of the bag you're trying to weigh in which case I would use a short strap around the handle.
Answer: If you're just weighing the bag, then turn on the scale, wait until it zeros out, then weigh the bag.
Answer: How old is the BAG. She may not want you weighing her.
Answer: I don't quite understand the question. You turn the scale on, wait for it to zero out, and put the bag on the hook to weigh it. That's an there is to it! Easy and convenient.
Answer: The scales have a hook on one end and handle on the other. Hook the bag and lift it by the handle on the scales and it will give you the weight.
Q:
Does this automatically shut off after a certain amount of time?
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
How accurate is this unit? My Etekcity show 2-3 lbs lighter. I have both
Answer: How accurate is the Etekcity? Locate an item in your household with a known GROSS weight, not NET weight. Use each scale to weigh the item. A gallon of water weighs 8.345 pounds NOT INCLUDING THE CONTAINER. Possibly Check each scale against the scales at the grocery. My scale matches the scales used by several airlines.
Q:
Has anybody figured out a way to turn off the "lock" function? It drives me nuts locking automatically before I am ready to take a reading.
Answer: Try pushing Tare, lock should go off
Q:
from the picture, the hook looks fragile, can it hook and lift a very heavy bag. and whats the durability warranty of the hook that carries the bag
Answer: The hook is substantial. If anything will fail with a heavy load it would probably be the strap holding the hook onto the scale. I placed the hook in a vise and it held it's shape under decent pressure. I only lifted about 30 pounds with it. If I every get around to carrying a load of bricks I'll get back to you.
Answer: it says on the device itself that it will hold up to 110lbs. the hook to me doesn't seem flimsy, it doesn't bend or give to my squeezing or pulling on it, I will add some pics of the hook to the customer images
Answer: I don't feel that this hook can bend, unless you exceed 110 pounds it might bend.
Q:
Have an issue with my scale, when i turned it on it was saying unit. then i selected lbs and it worked. but now it makes me do it every time. tips?
Answer: You must select the unit of measurement each time the scale is activated.
Q:
Is the scale waterproof
Answer: It is not waterproof.
Answer: I have the box and paperwork, doesn't say anything about being waterproof. Says wipe with damp cloth to clean. Mine works great, but I've never gotten it wet.
Answer: I wouldn't say yes. Its water resistant. Dont submerge it. I don't let mine stay wet.
Answer: No
Answer: no
Q:
Does it effected by water when weighing fish?
Answer: Yes, kindly be advise our fishing scale is not waterproof. Please be careful when use it. Thanks!
Answer: Sorry, I do not use it for fishing.
Q:
Can it be switched to lbs instead of kilos
Answer: Yes. Hold the tear bottom in for a min. It will switch. If not just play with it
Answer: Yes you can switch back and forth from pounds to kilos.
Answer: Yes, it can switch between units.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes it can
Q:
Would you be able to hang the scale up to weigh something or do you have to hold it?
Answer: It is not recommended to hang up the scale. Our handle is made of metal, which is relatively smooth. It is difficult to find the center point to hang up and weigh. Thanks for your question.
Answer: you could hang the scale but the handle moves a lot so it would be difficult. also the hook to hold the fish isn’t very big so the fish can easily come off its on the bigger side
Answer: I hung mine on a door and got mixed results, but got better results by holding it in my hand you may find yourself weighing an item a few times to get a consistent wieght
Answer: It has a metal retractable handle on top (see pic) you can hang on something if need be.
Answer: The handle on top can be put on some type of hook, but it will possibly slide to one corner or the other.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does it have a peak hold option?
Answer: I use it to weigh the propane bottles on my motor home. I think it does have a peak hold option but I have never used it. It works great for what I need and the price is right, for me.
Answer: No, it doen't work - When press "Tare" for 3 sec. the L-ON and L-OFF function display but never worked. I returned it.
Answer: It's in the description of product.
Q:
Where is it made??? If China... stick it
Answer: This is made in China.
Answer: I can find anywhere on the item where it was manufactured.
Answer: Not marked, but I'd say likely. I feel ya. But whaddaya gonna do?
Answer: Same to you
Q:
Does this have a peak hold? If so, is it instantaneous, or does the weight have to stabilize first? Thank you.
Answer: I have not seen a hold feature on this scale.
Answer: Weight has to stabilze then once stable will take 1 second and will lock the weight measurement on screen for alil over minute before it turns off automatically
Answer: Weight has to stabilze then once stable will take 1 second and will lock the weight measurement on screen for alil over minute before it turns off automatically
Q:
Does anyone know if esky es-ps01 scale can be calibrated? (i.e. weigh something of known weight (like a dumbell) and adjust for accuracy?
Q:
Can this be Manually calibrated?
Answer: You can zero it, like if you want to weight something in a container you put the container on the hook and hit button to zero weight of container other than that it automatically weights then locks the weight on display.
Answer: No, There is no adjustment to do that .
Answer: I don't believe it can.
Q:
is it water proof?
Answer: No, it is not water proof.
Answer: I haven't dropped it in the water yet, but I'd say no. There aren't anything special about it that would make it waterproof.
Answer: I don’t believe it is waterproof! Unfortunately, there is no warning whether it is waterproof or not in the instructions!
Answer: Looking at mine, I would say NO... but it is a dandy scale.
Answer: The description does not say it is waterproof. So most likely it is not waterproof.
Q:
Do you have reading retention weight? keeps the maximum weight and does not get to zero? .. thanks ,, regards
Answer: Yes. Load the device with a weight, and as soon as the reading stabilizes, the readout locks and so is retained. Exactly the way it should work!
Answer: It holds the last stable reading, not necessarily the maximum weight. If your weight varies over time you'll get the final stable weight, not the peak.
Answer: Yes, it allows you to easily read the weight on the cadran. Click on TARE to reset the scale.
Answer: Yes, it does. Keep in mind though, the hook is too small for 3 lbs bass or bigger.
Q:
Any actually use this for fishing? Good for fishing?
Answer: The weight limit is 110 lbs, so it does fine for lake fishing or even deep sea (obviously depending on what you catch). The hook is a good size as it is not too big or too small for the fish's mouth, but challenges do exist.
Answer: I used it for fishing. It's very accurate and easy to use. Ive used it for several things. Checking trigger pull weight on some of my guns and the pull weight of a door lock mech on a car. Its not waterproof though so dont drop it in the lake..
Answer: 2 things in regards to fishing with this.
Answer: You don't really want to hook The fosh directly onto the scale anyways, unless you're planning to keep it. Better to place the fish inside of something (bag, sling etc) to protect them as you're weighing. No need to punch a hole through their mouth for no reason.
Answer: I really dunno never tried it for fishing but you can try
Q:
How do i calibrate this scale?
Answer: It is self calibrating. Switch from pounds to kilograms by pressing UNIT. When unit is activated, and held stationary without weight on the hook, weight should be 0.00. If the scale indicates weight without any weight on the hook, press TARE and it should indicate 0.00.
Q:
Does it show pounds and ounces?
Answer: both
Q:
Does this weigh grams?
Answer: Yes, g/kg/lb./oz
Q:
Can you weigh the trigger pull of a firearm
Answer: I don't see why not. It weighs pretty accurately
Answer: Here is the detail for your reference. The Weight range / Graduation: 110lb/50kg; 0~10kg: d=5g, 10-50kg: d=10g
Q:
Where can I get the user manual?
Answer: Sorry that we don't upload user manual to listing on Amazon, it will do that. If you need urgently, would you pls email support@dr.meter.com? We will send you user manual ASAP.
Answer: Try the website which is: http://www.drmeter.com/support/guides
Q:
Is this igfa certified?
Answer: First, this is mass produced. I have not found a scale over the counter with state certification. If you want you will need to buy a totally different scale and have state agencies come and certify that scale at your own expense. I put on fishing tournaments and before I start I explain that my scales are not certified. In national contests that is different. DNR of each state have scales that you can see what they do for certification. Remember, this is an inexpensive scale, it can vary. But it has been very close on my contests.
Answer: Sorry, this is not igfa certified. But we have an FCC, CE, ROH certificate. Thanks!
Q:
Can this weigh in mililiters?
Answer: No, it measures Kg, lbs and ounces. If weighing a liquid 1kg = 1000ml.
Answer: No. This measures weight not volume
Answer: I really don't know and it is in my boat in Florida.
Answer: No. Milliliters is a volume measure.
Answer: No, it can not.
Q:
How can we disable data lock? I'm filling containers hanging on it by weight, and it keeps locking.
Answer: Please press the zero button. Thanks!
Q:
Can this be used for measurement of the draw weignt of a compound bow?
Answer: Because a compound bow has a weight curve that decreases significantly after the cams rotate, this scale may not be a good choice. However, if the scale is set to use the hold feature, it could register the maximum pull up to the limit of the scale. Caution should be used if you decide to do this to avoid damage to the bow or injury to the archer should the string slip. I do not recommend it. Take the bow to an archery shop with a proper scale to measure bows.
Q:
Does this scale come with a certificate of calibration?
Answer: Sorry to this scale does not come with a certificate of calibration. Thanks!
Answer: No, but it is very accurate. Very happy with this scale.
Q:
Does this scale have a recording feature so i can track my catch in tournaments?
Answer: No it does not have a recording feature
Q:
How big is the hook? Can it be replaced?
Answer: The hook is big enough for fresh water fish, any species. Yes the hook can be replaced
Answer: Too small for 4lbs bass and bigger. It's easier to just but a scale with the bigger hook. But the scale itself is a great scale. The tape measure didnt work in mine either,
Answer: Don't waste your time in this scale
Q:
How long is the tape measurer?
Answer: good
Answer: 3'
Answer: 3'
Q:
Does this hold the last weight measured?
Answer: Yes and no, you can lock the weight at the time of measurement. It will stay until you turn it off. After that it resets when turned on.
Answer: It'll lock the weight in as you weigh it but will not store previous weights on it.
Answer: Absolutely.
Answer: Yes, very good
Answer: Oh yes
Q:
Has anyone used this for peak poundage for an archery bow? Does it hold that peak poundage as you pull through on a compound bow?
Answer: Our fishing scales do not have the peak poundage, but have the ability to lock in poundage. When the sensor captures the weight of the product, it automatically locks the poundage; and if the customer presses the “memory” button, the value is stored and the customer is looking through the memory. When the value is displayed, if the value viewed at this time is the largest value, the value will flash three times to remind the customer.
Answer: I haven't done it, but I suppose you can? You would need to fasten the bow to a stationary object. This scale locks after 2 or 3 seconds, but you can look at the scale while you pulling the string back (because you would only need one hand since the bow would be fastened to something). I hope this helps.
Answer: Yes it works perfectly. I had one but I let it get ruined by leaving the batteries in too long so I am going to order another.
Q:
How do you disable the "lock" feature? I tried pushing tare but that just resets it to zero.
Answer: You just turn it off and it resets. Take a picture of the weight with your iphone before you reset it for your records.
Answer: Dont push tare....
Answer: Who cares...
Q:
Does this show weight in pounds and ounces? Meaning 10.5 pounds would show as 10 pounds 8 ounces?
Answer: Pounds and ounces to the hundredths like this: 00.00 You want ounces, you'll need a calculator. Multiply the hundredths of a pound by 16 like this: .18 x 16 = 2.88 - just under 3 oz.
Answer: I just checked my scale and it reads in pounds, ounces and kilograms. I interpret that as 1.25 lbs equals one and a quarter pounds or 20 ozs. If you change the scale to ounces it would read 20, etc.
Answer: Yes it does, lbs & ozs.
Answer: Yes it does very accurate for the price
Q:
Does the weight stay on the display for a few minutes after you have completed weighting an object?
Answer: mine stays on less than a minute
Q:
Anyone use this to check draw weight on a bow?
Answer: i havent, but you should be able to...it goes up to 100 lbs
Q:
Has anyone used it for big cats? 50-100lb?
Answer: I have used the scale to weigh bags of salt up to 45 lbs. No problem. Works fine. Probably easier if you hang the scale from a fixed hook or similar, so that you can have both hands free to control the load. You can switch units (lbs., kgs) while the load is suspended.
Answer: I made a sling that attaches to it for weighing my goats and it works just fine.
Q:
Does it come with a little bag/case to carry it in?
Answer: No so I store/carry it in the original box.
Answer: Yes, it does.
Q:
Why can’t I return this item - it arrived faulty; have tried with several batteries, none work, problem with unit.
Answer: im not sure...you should be able to get a hold of amazon and ask them
Q:
Will the tape get rusted?
Answer: Yes. Just clean it with fresh water, not salt water. Give it a good wipe down and you should be okay.
Answer: likely esp in salt water areas---but mine has not yet
Answer: Not really sure. I've had it on my boat for a year out in the elements and it still looks new and everything works great
Answer: Yes
Q:
I just turned on the scale and it is displaying 8888, what am i doing wrong?
Answer: Ensure batteries are loaded correctly. If correctly inserted, turn unit back on and press unit to determine if it will cycle between pounds or kilograms. Ensure the scale is not in a temperature extreme environment such as below freezing. Find the instruction sheet to determine if this situation is described there. If everything listed here fails to remedy the situation, return for a refund.
Answer: hold the on/off button for a few seconds, the scale has to reset itself
Q:
What is the smallest decimal it can read?
Answer: I apologize I am not sure I bought as a gift for my son who lives in a different state.
Q:
This would be intended as a gift. What kind of packaging is it in? is it labeled as a fish scale?
Answer: Yes, there is a color box in it and it is labeled a fish scale.
Q:
Will this product be available again anytime soon?
Q:
Has anyone used this for measuring grain
Answer: It will provide accurate weight for any item up to the operating limit for the device. The item being weighed is irrelevant.
Q:
What is the max before it will break?
Answer: If you read the description you will see that the max is 110 pounds.
Answer: 110 lbs
Answer: Read the product description at the top of the page!
Q:
Does this have a peak weight function
Answer: It doesn't have a peak weight "function". It does have a TARE function and the max. weight is 110lb/50kg.
Answer: It may. But, unfortunately I've not caught a fish big enough to test it. In saying that, this is the best scale I've ever owned.
Product reviews of Fish scale, Dr.meter Backlit LCD Display 110lb/50kg PS01 Fishing Scale with Measuring Tape, Electronic Balance Digital Fishing Postal Hanging Hook Scale with 2 AAA Batteries-Fishing Gifts for Men
Campbellx04 : Great Purchase
I purchased this scale to weigh a litter of puppies each day. This scale works amazingly well! It tabulates weight in lbs. oz. and kg which help me figure out even the smallest weight gains each day. I just put the puppies in a breathable canvas bag and hang off the scale. It is very easy and accurate. The batteries that came with it died only after two days so be advised of that. You will need to replace them after very little use.
Hawkeye249 : READ ME - Nice device + crap batteries - UPDATED
This is my second purchase of this device - I Like it!
It is the second purchase because within a short time the little used first one died,
due to a cheap included battery leaking!
Buy the device, throw away the included batteries and use alkaline batteries for increased joy.
If the Seller reads this, he/she should either Not include batteries,
or include alkaline and bump the selling price accordingly.
Mar 15, 2019 - I bought the first scale in June 2018 and only got around to using it in November.
By that time one/both batteries had leaked, ruining the electronics.
Even with five months elapsed time, the seller insisted on giving me a refund.
As a result, I've changed my review from 3 stars to 5.
They requested I remove my original review. That isn't fair if they still ship with discounted batteries.
If you buy one, swap in quality batteries immediately.
Virgil D. Gosch : It will do
Inexpensive, yes. Too much engineering. Just let me weigh the fish, I don't need a push this for that. If grams and pounds are a must, fine but most will not be using "tare" and other functions. The handle is way to small forcing you to use finger tips to hold the scale while weighing fish. Maybe it is made for people with small hands, weighing small fish in a container, I don't know. For the money I'll put up with it till a larger fish knocks it our of my hand.
David : Not water proof
This item was not water proof at all
Amazon Customer : Stopped working.
Well it worked great for the amount of time it worked! Only used it on maybe a half dozen fish, all but one under 3 pounds, and then when my brother hauled in a big bass, it said low battery. Figured it was because it was turned on too long or something unfortunate, but afterwards I tested the batteries and they were fine. Tested some new batteries, full charge, still said “Lo” on the screen and wouldn’t work. Screen also stayed blue and wouldn’t shut off. (Enough battery to stay on but not function?) So now I have a plastic brick in my tackle box. Seems like most people have good luck with it, but me, not so much. Not saying it’ll happen if you buy it but it’s a possibility.
JOEL M PROVONCHA : Product failed on first day
Batteries that came with it were dead . Put in new batteries seems to be working ok. The hanging hook doesn't work well and not easy to read in the sun
Mark MacDougall : It's dead / Was replaced
Purchased Jan 15th, 2018. It did work for a while, and seemed accurate. It's dead now. It may have been dead for months now, because I don't regularly use it. It wasn't damaged or immersed. I changed the batteries and cleaned the contacts. Still dead.
Cheap import electronic device.
EDIT:. The seller shipped a new scale free of charge. I wasn't expecting to receive a replacement, but was pleasantly surprised. This is more of a testament to the seller than the actual product.

thomas varghese : Not good
Not good
Tammy : Very accurate
Pretty darn accurate, use it for fishing and weighing luggage for airline flights
FauxReal : Accurate and simple
This thing is simple to use, easy to read in direct sunlight, and from my testing also very accurate. I'm usually the guy to spend more for brand name everything but in this case I'm really happy with my purchase and fully recommend it to others.
Jody Allen : Tape Measure problem = low stars
I really bought it for the tape measure aspect and the tape measure is very hard to get out of the case. I have tried numerous times and will now not bother and just throw a tape measure in my fishing box instead. The case it well made but I am not sure the designer really thought thru the use of such a small tape measure and how it is delivered. The hook weighing aspect is what I expected though so not all is lost on the product.
Amazon Customer : Does what it’s supposed to
It’s a scale, has a tape measure, and keeps you from guessing weight.
Not a bad product, easy to use and store in a bag or pocket.
My only issue is that the weight is off by a little. I tested with a 2 pound anchor I use for my kayak. It read 2.28 lbs. I have tried zeroing it out, and other things to fix the issue, but nothing works.. I just have to remember the difference if I’m going to weigh in for the competition.
Techie : Seems quality, tends to activate itself in my backpack.
Scale itself seems quality, though I have yet to check it's calibration.
Two issues though:
1. The mechanism on the measuring tape feels like hot garbage. I don't know if I just got a bad one, but it feels like a tape measure that was poorly made and then used heavily in a very sandy environment. Every time I pull it out, it feels like there is maybe a 50/50 chance it will retract again. Fairly certain this will fail with even moderate use, but we'll see. This was just an additional features, so it's not a catastrophic failure.
2. The buttons, particularly the power button, are way to easy to activate accidentally. Recessing them just a tad would HUGELY improve the tendency to activate accidentally while in my fishing backpack.
C. Gray : All around good scale
Works perfectly, lightweight, compact. Seems accurate.
Juan Rangel : Five Stars
Great scale. Fits in the pocket and mad it easy to weigh and measure fish while bass fishing!
DixieReb31 : Just quit working.
Purchased this in March of 2018. It worked fine for a while. Tried to use it this weekend. I thought the batteries had died. Nope. Put brand new ones in and still will not turn on. Didn’t even get 6 months of use out of it. Trashed it. Buyer beware.
Update: 11/15/18
Upon seeing my negative review the manufacturer made contact with me. They issued an apology and requested that they send me another scale. They were determined to stand behind their product. I had a new scale at no cost to me within a week. They have also issued a refund of $5.99. This is old school customer service. The kind I remember when most companies stood strongly behind their product. I am impressed with their commitment not just their product but also their customers. I’m not going to remove the initial review because I want others to see where I was with Qualla and how they came through. Greatly appreciated.
J. DFW : Weight is close but can give inconsistent results - UPDATE - vendor proactively sent me replacement unit - works much better!
I've tried this out weighing multiple sized items, as little as a few oz and as heavy as 20 lbs, and it does get you close but can give inconsistent results. You can weigh an item multiple times and get different results multiple times. Seems like it can be off a few grams. Would not use if you want accurate but works well for 'close enough'.
UPDATE 9/13/2018
After posting this review the vendor reached out to me and sent me a replacement unit. I tested the new unit out on items weighing from less than half a pound up to just under 20 pounds.I took about 30 separate measurements and most of the time the scale gave me the same weight for the same item. A few times, about 5 times, I got a different reading but it was only off by .01 pounds from the previous reading and that is acceptable to what I'm doing. Note: you do need to try to keep the unit as steady as possible when weighing something, so I found it's best if you hang the unit from a stationary object.
Red Beard Ops : Great Buy! Great Value!
This thing is awesome. I needed an accurate way to measure all the plates in my gym since we don't have calibrated plates and I'm a power-lifting / weightlifting enthusiast. I'll post a picture of how I rigged it up. I found that my steel plates were fairly off. My 315 was really 321. Guess I should be happy it's higher. I'm happy to now have accurate weights.
The scale worked great, held up well to fairly heavy weights, was easy to tare, was easy to read, and seemed robust. I also noticed extremely good repeat accuracy.
This thing was a great buy!
Ed Campbell : Works well, I cut off the tiny S-hook and added a hook to hold a 100lb fish
Seems to work well but when I tried to weigh a 60 catfish the hook on it is so small I had to punch a hole in the side of the fishes mouth.
My advice to the designers, if you're going to make this to us fishermen please get rid of that tiny hook on this and add something at least the size of your hand so we can use this without breaking an arm when your tiny hook keeps popping out of the fishes mouth
Amazon Customer : Excellent for the price.
For ten dollars you can't go wrong. Complaints are the batteries it came with died in short order, the hook comes out of its holder very easily, it will turn on in your pocket, and the tape measure us difficult to deploy. So it isn't perfect. But keeping the cost in mind and its positives (very light and compact, very generous range of weights it will measure) I'm giving it four stars.
Just a suggestion to Dr Meter, a lot of fishermen buy these. It would be great to have a sealed, waterproof version of this that isn't dramatically larger.
HR : Stopped working after few months. Worst product ever.
After 3 Months it stopped working.
I have tried putting new batteries but the display is not turning on.
I bought it based on the reviews but very disappointed with the quality of the product.
Not sure how to contact them even to provide needful feedback so that they can improve their quality.
But overall worst product ever seen.
Johal : Excellent for Telescope balancing
I needed this for critical balance of a telescope system. it reads out in ounces, lbs or kg which is nice. I previously used a trigger pull gauge which had a minimum limit of 8 oz. This has a digital reading which is immediate. If you find that it locks on a weight, push the power button quickly and it resets. Also, an added feature is Tare, which allows you to zero out a container etc. and then weigh what you put in it. Overall, for the price, I am very satisfied and it it lasts for a year, it is well worth it. Some complained about the flimsy tape measure but I don't care about that and you cannot expect a stanley tape measure for the price. Lastly, the instructions were easy to follow.
Recessing them just a tad would HUGELY improve the tendency to activate accidentally while in my fishing backpack.
frequent customer : Uncomfortable to hold, useless for large fish
It's ok for small things, not very accurate but you get the ballpark idea. For large fish or objects it's useless. Hook is flat and small, doesn't hold up very well. Trying to lift anything over 20 lbs is incredibly uncomfortable since the meter is very small and there is no additional grip space without blocking screen. The metal handle is a joke, only a child could fit their hand through that tiny slit.
Xgenei : Wow - what a deal - even saves me money at the grocery store.
Perfect for fishing of course, but if you want to weigh your one-price bag-o-cheese, you can easily save a buck every time you haul it out of your shoulder bag. That's what I bought it for. So for that sort of hunting, it is notably missing a clip that will hold a 5# slippery bag. One of those utility clamps from the dollar store might do it. The metal hook is plenty strong, and you can run it through of course, but ..
James Kitchen : Works great
Just as accurate as my buddies scales that cost 3 times as much. The measuring tape is a nice bonus as well.
Veronica ❤️ : Great value scale
Does what it says it's supposed to. Does it well. It actually feels like excellent quality and is incredibly accurate.
We tried it with another scale that our friend had, a nice expensive one (I don't know the name and don't care to endorse it), and this one was right on point. I bought it for shipping car parts while my wife bought it for shipping clothing. We had gotten stung at the post office before because they said that we weren't printing out the right weight for our shipping labels, so now we can be completely accurate.
What's nice about this scale is it's automatic and digital, with an a nice blue lighting to make the numbers clearer (although the blue lighting does shut off after a few seconds, as shown in picture). It shows you the weight incredibly quickly, which is just a plus. We recommend this scale.

Fluffpuppypup : Accurate
I am stunned by how accurate this weighs, and how well built this is. I use this to weigh the gear that will go into our backpacks so we divide the gear appropriately for the adults and the children. No more guesswork about weight. It is essential as we do not want to overload the kids with weight. Kids should only carry 10-15 percent of their bodyweight to prevent injury. Using this scale helps us to trim down the list of stuff we bring, and to chose wisely about the types of items the kids (and adults) want to bring. The scale is sturdy - my pack usually weighs around 40-45 pounds, and it hangs on the scale like nothing. The screen is easy to read and bright. The tare function works well. Simple tool for accurate load out.
Jim S. : Close in Accuracy
Bought to weigh fish. Out of the box I hung the below weights, and received the coordinating readings. Overall, not bad at all. Fits easily in my tackle box.
Weight: Reading
2.5 lbs: 2.56
5.0 lbs: 5.20
10 lbs: 10.22
The weights could be slightly off as well. Either way, accurate enough for my needs.
L. McNamara : Used once for a trip, no issues. Took ...
Used once for a trip, no issues. Took the batteries out and put it away, and when I set it up again, it was dead. Not impressed.
update: company sent a surprise replacement. that was nice of them. unfortunately, this one didn't work at all. I tried it with the provided batteries, and I tried it with brand new lithiums, and it didn't even turn on.
Sarah K. : Only worked for a couple fishing trips
The hook is kinda small and hard to weigh larger fish. It worked great for a couple trips then it died. Replaced the batteries and still wouldn’t work. Waste of money
JOEL M PROVONCHA : Product failed on first day
Batteries that came with it were dead . Put in new batteries seems to be working ok. The hanging hook doesn't work well and not easy to read in the sun
C. Gray : All around good scale
Works perfectly, lightweight, compact. Seems accurate.
Troy Walz : Disappointed
I wouldn't waste your money. I thought it was built nice was pretty stout. Used it one night and it weighed accurate. Went to use it again and it must have gotten wet. I had it in the cubby on my boat.. dosnt work anymore. Not sure why you would want a scale that isnt at least water resistant. One good thing it was to hold the paper in the garbage when I threw it away.
BobGuy : Good product—Dr. meter made things right
Updated review:
Dr. Meter contacted me based on my review and sent me the correct product and it seems to work great and is the one shown. I appreciate their customer service and good product.
Oringinal review:
I'm sure the people who received the item pictured and described in new condition are thrilled with it. But I received a used item that had rust on the handle and smelled of fish and did not include batteries as described. It was probably an older version of the product shown, since it had a different button configuration and no branding. It works fine and I'll be using it for fishing, so I'll keep it but I'm not impressed with the fact that I got the product in this condition. There are no returns, so keep that in mind if you take a chance on it.
Matt Wiens : Not waterproof, drip proof, rain proof
Loved the scale. Very easy to use and read. Unfortunately, I had it next to me and it started to rain. 5 minutes later it didn’t work anymore.
Update. Amazon sent me another one the next day. I was very happy. Put the batteries in the unit and it started smoking right away. We pulled the batteries out immediately. Put them back in and as you would expect... it didn’t work. Changed to a refund. Sorry guys.
Lisa : Garbage
Bought this item as a gift. So I wasn’t opened right away. Product arrived damaged and return window has closed guess it’s just garbage. Beware!!!
The OHara family : Accurate
A+
shelley lyon : Garbage
Junk! Don’t waste your money. Put about 50-60 lbs on it and it exploded into a million pieces.

Erwin Lopez : A great scale for fishing that is also great for other uses such as weighing luggages
My main purpose for buying it so that I can measure and weigh my catch. One of the best part of this product is that it has a built in measuring tape. It also include 2 AAA batteries. This is a nice feature as that is one less thing to think about. Other than installing the batteries, it is ready to go. i did do a small "test" to see how accurate it was. I had some weights that i use for fishing and the scale accurately measure the weight. Other than it being .1 ounce off at time, it has been quite reliable. For the price I paid for, this was a great purchase.
Tecno Geek : Not Usable
Update 2/5/2020: Customer Service contacted me about my review and offered to replace or refund me. I think that is excellent customer service and appreciate it. I am using a different solution so I opted for a refund.
Bought this to take constant measurements of a tank that I am filling. It stops measuring after a couple of seconds and does not work for that purpose. You need to put the whole weight on at once, otherwise it just locks in the weight after a few seconds. The other issue is the backlight does not stay on long enough. Directions are written in poor Chinese English and are hard to follow.
Annie Nguyen : Surprising accurate and easy to use
I tested the accuracy with some dumbbell weights and surprisingly, this scale is quite accurate! the back-lit lighting makes it easy to read during the day and nighttime. The only suggestion I would make is with the hook. Its good for most applications, but for for fishing, it should be larger or come with a clamp-grip adapter.

Chris : Great little scale. The best I've ever owned for fishing.
Okay really? Under $15 for an incredibly accurate fish scale that's easy to use. I could do without the little tape measure but others might like this feature. For fishing I held the hook in a pair of pliers and ground the flat end to a point - easier to get it under the fishes chin to weight it. Also you can weigh your net, push the "tare" button which will zero the weight out and then put the fish in the net to weigh it and know the exact weight. I love this little scale. Note, I dropped in in the lake - oops - and retrieved it quickly - and shook any water I could out of it. It quit working (duh) but, after I let it dry in the sun for a couple hours, it, once again, works like a charm. Pretty sturdily built for a little $13 scale.
