anyone want to fish the gambler free tourny on sunday at the lake? my partner doesn't think he can make it.
Let me check with the wife. I've been working a ton of overtime and haven't been home much, but maybe I can pull it off. I'll seriously try if no one else can make it. I'll know by end of business day today (Thursday).
Doug.
Perhaps I'll add some new jewelry to that washer and dryer I got her. ;D ;D ;D ;D
Im interested. my partner took up an offer to fish with someone else so i dont have a boat this weekend.
hey bruce ...hows that barge runnin these days??
yours truly

it is running like a champ! i gained more hp after the rebuild. my mechanic is the man! are you fishing the gambler?
doug and suzuki- westpalmfrogpunk is going to fish with me. thanks for responding. as of now there are over 100 boats registered for sunday. should be a huge tourny.
Wish I could make it out. Probably going to be a decent bite. Weather is going to hit 80 on Saturday and around the same on Sunday. Should be a good bite with the warming water before the next front rolls in.
I had to bail on the Gambler tourney, also. My wife "surprised" me with Christmas tickets... :-X Fortunately, my partner was able to get a replacement.
Good luck Salmi, Bruce and all the others. That is going to be one big tourney. The weather looks good, and I imagine the fishing should be pretty good, also.
im thinkin about just gettin a 12 pack and a lawn chair and watchin all the weekend warriors at the boat ramp!lol
the last one was just comical. u can deffinately tell the poeple that have never backed up in the dark..and i dont think the weathers gonna b as good as everyone think cause the front is SUPPOSED to move through monday so usaully the wind starts pickin up a little before that so i think its gonna b blowin pretty good out of the north
kenny

thanks dale.
yea kenny it is quite hilarious watching some of those guys. i usually let everyone take off first and then i hit my spots. i agree with you that the weather is going to rough. i expect strong winds and very choppy water. save a couple of those beers for me.
No problem, Bruce.Good luck and I hope you whack'em good.
100 boats? That boat ramp is going to be like the mall the day before Christmas. Better the leave the gun at home ;D.
Doug.
Good luck finding a parking spot.
It should be a great T
Good luck you guys.
Going to be able to fish it-yeah! Powerhead in and broke in thanks to lapping around out at Holiday yesterday for about 4 hours in the goop. That is, unless something else goes wrong in my club tourney tomorrow out of BG.
See you all out there and good luck to all participating
Glad to hear you got the powerhead fixed, Sal.
100 boats? Yeesh. Thats going to be crazy out there tomorrow. Good luck to you guys that are fishing. Stay safe.
Kenny, drink one for me. Bring your camera. I bet theres going to be some funny stuff happening with that many boats.
I'll be at work busting my hump all day Saturday and into Sunday morning. Enjoy the weekend you guys.
i was at gambler today to get some goods. i am boat #103 and there are (as of now) 150+ boats. gonna be a mad house. what are the chances i don't see a boat in any of my spots? anyway it should be fun. $10 big fish and a $20 side pot. first place could take 2 g's.

That is some serious dough. You have as good chance as anyone. How do they start this T? Release 20 boats at a time?
If it's blowing on the lake like it is down here, I bet it wasn't the most comfortable day in the world out there.
I went out to Lox this morning for a couple of hours and the wind was ridiculous blowing from the west. Probably a steady 25 plus gusts to 35.
It is going to be real tough at Lake O.
There should be some reports soon.
water temp was 53 sat morning on the north end.
Getting to be that time of year so I skipped the beach Sunday morning and did some bass fishing. Hit a couple local ponds near to my home and on 1 pond I destroyed them, the other was dead. At first light wind was calm, I fished nothing but a top lure. Went in my community pond about 12:00, wind was strong and nothing was happening.
I'm not sure what the final boat count was but for what it was, which was a lot, the start couldn't have been handled in any better way. Everybody got a boat number and you launched in groups of 5. Weigh-in was open between 2:30 and 3:30 and it was just done very well IMO. You see, I'm talking about the T and not our fishing day which was very forgettable. Caught some small keepers early but the wind came up bad between 10-11 and we fled to the rim and the d-holes which were very occupied. The Lake is falling fast and with the south and west wind Sunday, it almost seemed like the lake was 2-3 inches lower down south on Sunday.
brutal day for me. caught 5 fish quick. all small (1lb) keepers. i stayed in that area as long as I could, but the wind was working me. i wish i had a power pole. i didn't bother to weigh my fish in. 22 pounds won and 21 was second. they paid 16 spots and i think 16th was 11 and change.
i agree with sal, it was a very smooth take off and weigh in. i believe there were 124 boats. a lot of no shows due the weather. i thought for sure the bite was going to be way better. the water temp never got above 56 where i was at. as i was running from the lake to the rim ditch in some little trail from buzzards, i was hitting tree limbs. the water is dropping super fast. be careful.

I couldnt believe the water temp. I was thinking 60 or so but 53 sat morning at the ramp was a bummer. I caught 4 fish all day. 3 keepers. It sucked.
somebody had some fished dialed in to catch 20+ pounds. thats impressive.
My partner Jack (shallow thinker) weighed just shy of 10lbs (9.81). Apparently, our spots held fish, but as has been the case, most of the fish are less than two lbs. He was culling by 8AM and caught fish pretty much all day long. Sounds like he had a fun day on the lake though...I'm a bit bummed I had to drop out.
I would have paid a million bucks for a power pole yesterday! We left our fish at 11am and power drifted the rest of the day. Still a good time and well run event.
Did you guys see Denny Brauer filming near the weigh in? He was in a wrapped Strike King rig.
20+ pounds is pretty impressive given the conditions. Sounds like some people had fun days, others had horrible days. I'm not sure if I could have dealt with the cold and the wind blowing so hard. Glad you guys didn't have any problems with the dropping water and bad weather.
That's too bad it was such a brutal day..I was hoping it would better for all of you.
It's days like you described that clinched my decision to splurge on a power pole. I bought the 8' sportsman model, which works fine for a bit less $$. I was tired of my hubby getting worn out trying to keep the boat positioned especially when we were on fish and trying to avoid being blown over them. (I take turns, but he likes the front and I like my head too much to be near his hook sets)
It was the best investment besides the boat for the both of us.
Hubby will fish the Gambler tournament out of Lake Kissimmee, with his son.
man i was hoping everyone did well. i have a tournament out on the lake this weekend. kind of worried now lol
Weather actually looks good for this weekend. Warming trend started today. Supposed to be close to 70 by Saturday.
yea i just hope the fish want to bite this weekend
bruce u should know better than that...once uve fished on a boat with a power pole its almost impossible to fish on one without it..best invest ive ever made hands down...
just call rich at hydrilla gear and he'll hook you up with a sweet set-up (tell him i told u to call)...he just got me that new 8' signature series its super fast and u cant even hear it. and it looks awsome they come with the cover and everything...

Me too. I'm gonna try Lox tomorrow. I was on some good fish there, but I've only fished it once in the past five weeks. Anyone heading out there send me a PM, let's hook up.
