For most of us money and time are both items to be considered when thinking about our dream fishing trip. If you had plenty of both, where would you go on your dream trip and why?
Bass: California-check
Salmon&Salt: Alaska-check
Trout: New Zealand- still waiting
Freshwater- Peacocks in Brazil
Saltwater-Pretty much maxxed that one out already.
Anything on the fly-Alaska
I've seen so many tv shows, and read so many articles about Lake El Salto and Lake Bacarac, I'd love to go down and spend a week to see if I could catch Big Mama.
Falcon
Fresh water: night fishing all the trophy bass lakes in Texas, California, Florida, & Mexico
Salt water: guided trip with Captain Norm Isaac
QuoteSalt water: guided trip with Captain Norm Isaac
His son Brent can "bring it home" too!
Mexico and Brazil.
Freshwater= Peacocks on the Amazon or Rio *****.
Saltwater=Fly fishing for Tarpon in Belize or Costa Rica.
If anyone is going I will help pay for gas!
Ronnie
Dream trip, Heading down to Mexico to visist Raul and the bait monkey, spending a week fishing the waters of Mexico and eating authentic foods.
Then sliding over to Cabo for another week to hook up with Catt and Norm Isaac for another week of Bill fishing.
Matt
Good answers. I don't know whether I would go to Baccarac with Tom Reddington or to the Amazon Peacock Fishing. Hooking into big bass gets my motor running. I suppose both would suit nicely. 8-)
Freshwater - Always wanted to hook into some peacocks and those crazy payara.
Salt - I want to be on TV with Jose Wejebe. Big tarpon, baby!!! (and I find it amusing that the show is "The Spanish Fly," I am sure Muddy would appreciate that!!!!)
Wayne
South America / Amazon River
Sure, a 20 lb Peacock Bass would be great..... But I couldn't leave without sticking a 40 plus Pacu, or a 100 plus South American Catfish (of one species or another).
Plus, what an awesome place for some great photography, even aside from fish photos.
Fish
Cedar Lake, Manitoba, drive-to fishing for Northern Pike.
I'm sure it will become a reality, I'm not much of a dreamer.
Roger
2 places- Lake Dixon, CA in an attempt to catch that 25 lb + LMB that Mac Weackley let go last year. After taking a shot there my next stop would be the Rio ***** in Brazil to catch some peacocks. I want Gonzaga to be my guide. Did anyone watch Record Hunters on ESPN Outdoors. This guy jumped in the river and swam over to untangle a peacock that had wrapped around a submerged tree.
Considering here in the KC area there are not a lot of places to catch huge bass, I would have to pick one of the big bass lakes down in Mexico so I could have a shot at my first double digit bass. I would also love to fish for peacock, but I'll take a monster greenback first.
I did see that episode! Thats why I would have to agree with you about going to the Amazon with Gonzaga. My other trip would be to go up north to catch Smallies with KVD. Or maybe the Coosa River with Gerald Swindle.

Having been to Brazil, I can tell you from firsthand experience that Gonzaga, although good, pales in comparison to Ze Bodo, the guide that my dad and I had in Brazil.
If you look at the stats of the fish that they caught, they averaged 5 - 15 fish a day. If I had nothing else to compare it to, that would be pretty good. However, my dad and I on our worst day caught 32 fish. Our best day we caught 84.
I also noticed that he was not very involved in their fishing. Again some people may like that, but the guides over at the Rio ***** lodge did EVERYTHING for you. Unbelievable trip guys, It's definitely one that I would recommend to anyone wanting to go.
I'm going back God willing at the end of October this year. Maybe we can get a few BassResource guys to come along???
My next dream trip after that will have to be to go to Argentina on the Uruguay River for Golden Dorado. The Dorado there makes the Peacock Bass i caught in Brazil look like guppies - they average 25 - 35 pounds! On topwater!!
For bass, California, Texas and Florida, for the chace of catching a fish over 7lbs! The european record is some 10.3lbs, so...
I also liked to fish the Amazon for peackok, Argentina for dorado and steelhead (huge, so I've heard) and (this is weird) I'd like to catch me some Nile perch (they grow to 6ft and 400 lbs!!! For real!!!)
Well one dream is about to unfold FISHING THE FORK in March
My other dreams are rather humble compared to you guys
I waant to fish bass/pike in Minnesota I would love to meet Al Linder
then I want to move down south for the rest of my life and Bass and Crappie fish til they throw the dirt on me
Oh Yea Id like to fish Florida Salt water for Bone Fish,Tarpon anbd Snook
Brazil

Thanks for raining on my parade Redline :'( Hopefully, I will get the chance to draw comparisons myself one day. Until then it will remain my "Dream fishing trip."
Funny ;D.
I will continue to dream! Thanks Avid.
Lake Yojoa in Honduras for bass fishing.
Rio ***** in Brazil for peacock bass.Mexico for LM bass.

Then to the Gulf for Bill fishing and some mahi-mahi action
Up to Florida to tackle some deepwater grouper and red snapper
then to Norfok Lake in Arkansas for Stripers
Then finish off with some smallmouth bass fishing in Minnesota and Canada for Northern Pike.
Rest a week
Repeat
Lake Fork in March!
2nd place would be the John Day river in April. I wrote an article about that on this site.
if I'm not mistaken, they caught two fish over 20 lbs. I wouldn't care if I caught "fewer" fish, as long as I got some big ones, that included at least one 20 plus !
Speaking of which, how big is that one in your avatar ??? Awesome catch regardless ! Congrats. Did you have a replica made ? I sure would have ! Those things are just beautiful !
Peace,
Fish
Largemouth: Mexico
Smallies: One of those really remote (fly-in) Canadian shield lakes
Stripers: Any one of the east Tennessee TVA lakes or the Tennessee River itself.
Salt: Louisiana for the reds (and good jazz in New Orleans).
Fly fishing the flats for Bonefish.
Fly fishing for Tarpon and Permit.
Fly fishing for big steelhead in Alaska.
Fly fishing for anything in Hawaii with a couple of those hot, brown skinned, raven haired hula type girls,oh yea!!!

That's what I'm talking about!!!! I mean HUGE!!!!
Yes, Pacu's are very popular aquarium fish. The Stienheart Aquariium in San Francisco had several of them from 40 to 50 lbs ! Just look at those flat, wide bodies ! Can you imagine fighting a 40 to 50 lb Bluegill ?!?! :-)
Peace,
Fish
Nile Perch are awesome too ! I'd love to stick some of those !
Oh, and have you guys heard of a New Gunea Black Bass ? In-Fishermen rated them #8 on the top 10 toughest freshwater fish on the planet, even though they were the smallest species on the list.
This is a 40 lb'er:
Peace,

Avid, I believe you are right. But it sure sounds like fun!!!

They did catch 2 over 20 lbs, but more large fish are caught on the Rio *****. In fact the world record was caught close to where the lodge is located. They have a replica at the lodge and the IGFA certificate there as well.
The fish I am holding is close to 19 lbs, I didn't have a mount made. I'll save that for a 20+ if I am lucky enough to catch one later this year.
I'm already where I want to be. I just wish I could move the calendar ahead a month or so............
I'm still trying to beat the 3 large mouth I caught in 45 min that weighed in @ 36 lb 7 oz total. There's no place like Toho during the spawn
Alone on a deserted beach in Baja surf fishing for roosterfish.
Brazil i believe it is. Amazon river for some good ol' peacock bass. And those hot hot brazilian women ;D
for saltwater.....Anywhere that i can catch some good tarpon.
Two Words - El Salto
Harshman
Champlain for smallies.
It would start on Barkley and end at Tellico.
I have 4, Sam Rayburn in Texasfor largemouth,El Salto or Bacarac in Mexico for largemouth,Brazil peacock fishing, and for smallies I want to go somewhere about 4 hours from my house at Dale Hollow Lake.
I'm going to El Salto this year so I'll be getting one of them out of the way.
I would love to do a fly-in trip to Canada or Alaska sometime.
Since I have great bass fishing here, I'd pick a small remote stream, a fly rod, and a tent. Or to go back home (where I will be moving in the summer) to WV, where we used to float a creek called Back Creek. Largemouth, Smallmouth, pickeral, trout, and various sunfish on an ultralight.
Now we're talking, man! I love fishing here in West Virginia, especially the trout fishing! (Thus the name Troutfisher ) Where's your favorite place to go?
It would be a fishing trip lasting the next 40years or untill I keel over as this would last untill I was 87, better make it 50 years to be on the safe side! LOL. I'd fish all over the US and some in Canada & Mexico.
I'd fish Can, WI and MN for Pike, Muskie and Walleye.
For LM Bass I'd fish anywhere but a lot in KY, TN, Carolinas, TX, CA, AL, FL, ok, AR, GA and anywhere else that was good for bass. I also would fish El Salto and others in Mex.
Maybe fish for whatever in Uk and Germany to site see while I was their and to learn what fishing is like in those countries.
For LM bass and Crappie and the northern fish I find the neatest out of the way small resorts with quiet settings and good old fashioned food.
I'd take guided trips for Crappie in MO, TN, KY, IL, WI and some others.
I'm sure I'd grow to enjoy Peacock Bass but just in the great old US of A too many nuts in the exotic places and plenty of fishing here to keep me busy.
I have no patience for Trout right now but I might learn to fly fish and fish the streams of ID, OR, Dak's etc if nothing else I know my good buddy would enjoy it. I would also do it for just the sheer beauty of the environment that comes with that type of fishing.
The trip would not include saltwater fishing maybe I'd learn it but no interest whatsoever at the moment.
If they guide I'd book trips with Al Linder, Jimmy Houston, Jerry McGuiness, Bill Dance and John Gillespie ( of Wisconsin Waters and Woods) because you would catch fish and be entertained.
I know I dreamed big but what the heck its a dream!
Dream trip ?
Any of Bill Dance's stock tanks will do.
First Post guys..
I would like two days in Miami Canals for Peacock Bass and Cyclids on the fly. And Fat Alberts off the NC Coast...
El Salto sounds good too.
Capt Mike
Welcome aboard!
Alaska summer salmon run!
Brazil after a monster peacock then anywhere along the coast for redfish. I would also like to go back to Dale Hollow after a big smallmouth I missed out on mine when I went a few years ago. Got skunked that trip sure would like another shot at it. >
Lake Zaza, Cuba, for LMB!!!
Anywhere as long as it's on a boat; way to long shore fishing...
DREAM, DREAM VAC. SPOT: Hunting Peacock's in the Amazon (Brazil/Peru)
QuoteWhere's your favorite place to go?
either back creek or sleepy creek lake.. lived within 2 or 3 miles of both.
Quotenile perchEgypt is not far from Cyprus

For Bass fishing ,anywhere in the states, a trip I plan 2 do with my buddy in 2k8
First and foremost, a tour of San Diego County lakes, especially Lake Dixon. Perhaps a quick trip down to Mexico. And a few other places in the US (FL, Northeast). We should start figuring out dates etc buddy !
Then, maybe Egypt for the Nile Perch or South Africa for Bass and TigerFish... Or even Carribean for dorado / tarpon / permit...
