I was thinking the same thing, but I didn't want to say anything. Though, since you brought it up...

That is quite an ugly looking bass....hes got a big chunk missing from the top of his back infront of his fin...I wonder what that is from?
oh btw I have caught 5 largemouth bass over 7 lbs but unfortunately I caught ALL of them before I got my camera. I just got a camera at the end of last year so I dont have pics of my biggest bass

Probably a prop hit her, that's my best guess, and many others.. Might added an extra ounce on to him. Haha!

Me Too! i woulda guessed somewhere closer to 9

I woulda guessed between 6 and 7 pounds....That is one busted scale!
Quote7.8Personally I think the scale was broke..........
That fish is at least in the 8lb range.
10-8
How much y'all think this one weighs?
This is my biggest LMB so far.
This is my biggest smallmouth.
Aaaaaaaaaa...Nice fish!
Great pics!
8-)
Catt,
Sorry, got sidetracked.
I'd guess your bass goes 3 easy... :
Mrs Matstone.
nice fish also
Mrs. Matstone, did you catch those bass with a rod and reel or did they just jump in your boat? ;D
Catt, that fish weighs around 5.5lbs.
Quote7.8Personally I think the scale was broke..........
Welcome aboard!

I agree, that's a beauty!
Mrs. Matstone ... very nice ... fish
TO THE DOUBTERS OUT THERE. PLEASE NOTE I AM NOT HOLDING THE FISH OUT TO THE CAMERA A LA ROLIND MARTIN AND ALSO I AM 6'1' 210 LBS. HERE'S ANOTHER PIC OF THE SAME FISH. BUT THE REAL WINNER HERE APPEARS TO BE MISTER MATSTONE.

Maybe its just your camera but that fish seems very dark...I wonder how much it weighs....Probably 9-10 lbs
Thanks everyone.
T-rig- I don't have a boat, wish I did once in a while though. I caught both those fish from shore. I usually am wading which is why I am wearing a swimsuit in the smallmouth pic. I don't have waders yet but hope to before winter comes otherwise it will be a little chilly in the water. ;D
FivePoundBluegill - You are right about the first two pics they are dark. It is because they were taken from my husbands camera phone. One of my daughters had my camera that day. I believe that the fish was about 9 or 10 pounds you are correct. I did not have a scale so my husband measured it. It was 25.5 inches long and had a girth of approx. 18 inches. Guess we will never know how much it actually weighted but I really don't care. It was just very cool to catch it and release it.
Here is a pic of me sending that fish back hopefully maybe someday my daughter will catch him too. That would be even better than me catching that fish in the first place.
Mrs. Matstone. Beautiful pics!
.....and the fish are nice too.
On average, 25.5" would be around 10lb 4oz.
Print this chart out for future reference:
http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/9222.html
You'll notice 25" = 9 lb 10 oz. The difference between 24.5" and 25" is 10 oz. Adding the additional 1/2", 9-10 + 10 = 10lb 4oz, but that may be slightly underestimating actual weight. At any rate, a GREAT fish!
I love how everyone always uses the "i'm not holding it out, and i'm a big guy defense"
that fishes head is right next to mine. that is what a 12+ will look like. oh and coincidentally, I am 6'8".
Thanks! That's a beauty and a great example of "perspective".
Dang on' Bizzle! That is a pig. His head is bigger than yours, he could probably swallow you face first up to your neck!!!

One more...
BTW...
Mrs Matstone...waders?!...what for?...

I didn't think to measure it but by using my fingers as a reference its aprox 23-24 inches long.
Oh well I'll just have to catch it again

Tis a true Giant.
That is a GREAT picture to go by when guessing weights. There is no way that "12lb bass" looks remotely near the size of bizzles. Bizzles fish could inhale that thing in an instant.
my 7lb+ giant (my scale was being funky that day, it was at least 7lbs...i know that)
Fourbizzle, that was a ballsy move, I would be affraid of that fish taking my head off!!! ;D
Quote7.8Personally I think the scale was broke..........
Maybe theres a 7.8 lber in her gut shes huge!!!!
7.4 - middle of winter...
Fourbizzle,
What did you catch that hawg on? I assume you are in a warm weather state. I have never heard of a fish that big up in my parts. Was it pre or post spawn? It's a fish of beauty. Your drag must've been screaming when that fish took the bait. Nice fish.
Quote7.4 - middle of winter...
You have shorts and a t-shirt on in the middle of winter?

Actually yes... seeing that it never got very cold where I was. I love the pointless criticism tho !
I caught both the fish you are talking about and the 11-4 in my avatar on oversize plastic worms. The 13-1 was caught on September 3rd of last year, about as far from the spawn as you can get here in california the 11 was caught this year sometime in May I think, couple months after the spawn. They never touched the drag, drags are for sissies LOL ;D
really you have to stop writing those posts they are KILLING ME!!! it is funniest stuff in bass fishing man drag are for sissies that is an instant classic d**n.
You have to stop making those posts they are KILLING ME!!! they are just so hilarious "drags are for sissies" that is an instant classic. I dont know if it is possible but it would make it the drag comment even funnier if those fish were caught on a spinning rod ;D
