It's not a contender, but it's a start. I'll post up as I catch bigger fish.
4-12 LMB, Tuesday, April 16, Local Pond
(4*16) + 12 = 76 oz.
NY state record LMB: 11-4
(11*16) + 4 = 180 oz.
76 / 180 * 100 = 42.22%
I got some work to do....

NIce Bass J.
Way to start this thing off . . . .

WTG J. Glad to see someone is catching.

Shut up, Wayne.
LMAO!
I'm telling everyone!! Rig burn time!!!
BTW, the mouth in that second pic looks WAYY bigger than a 4-12.
This is a blue gill pond. Al the bass are like that, big mouths, tall bodies. They do not work hard for their food, just sit around, and gulp a blue gill if it swims by.
Looks like JF is the winner. Somebody must have caught a fish in the last five days.
I caught a 5 pounder but in Florida that's not big enough to even bother with the math.
I caught quite a few 3s and a couple of 4s this week at Table Rock but with a largemouth state record of 13 lbs 14 oz I really have nothing worth posting. My wife and I spent the week there so half the time we were fishing for crappie as that is her fish of choice. I did catch a 2 lb 14 oz white crappie which is 63 percent of the Missouri record of 4 lb 9 oz.

LOL, I just posted that to demonstrate the math and the format that would work well for this contest. I intend to do MUCH better than 42%.
Im coming for you Francho!!! I'm determined to get a good one by the end of this week!
Here's my first entry -
6lb 6 oz smb, Tuesday, April 23, Lake Erie - in PA waters.
6 lbs 6 ounces for a total of 102 ounces.
PA state record SMB: 8lb 8oz or 136 oz.
102 / 136 = .75 x 100 = 75.00 for 75%
And a PB ~ Even though I don't look like it in this photo ~ I'm Pretty Happy ! ! ! I'm gonna say I was just really focused . . . . . .
Now we are talking. Good job Andy!!!
Jeff
Here's my first entry -
6lb 8 oz smb, Monday April 22, Lake Erie - in PA waters.
6 lbs 8 ounces for a total of 104 ounces.
PA state record SMB: 8lb 8oz or 136 oz.
104 / 136 = .7647 x 100 = 76.47%
Sorry A-Jay.
There are a few more days left for upgrades on this trip.
76% Dwight??? Thats all you got???
I suspect this wont last but it sure is a nice fish. Congrats!
Jeff
Very nice smallies, Dwight and Andy.
Wow. And he's looking for an upgrade, folks.
Nice, nice work Dwight!
Great smallies!
alabama
spotted bass
state record 8lbs 15oz=143oz
http://www.outdooralabama.com/fishing/freshwater/fish/bassblack/spotted/
fish weight 3lbs 4oz=52oz
(52/143)x100=36.36
caught 4/24/13 on lake jordan by skipping a shaky head under a pontoon on a boat lift.
not huge but its a start. two things i'm counting on. i catch a bigger one and everyone else forgets about spots
you can see how worn the tail is from spawning. she was really under weight for this lake. she would score much better in a few months, or 2 weeks ago.
Here is my first entry, hopefully not my last :
6 lb 8 oz Largemouth
Sat April 20th
Kezar Lake, ME
6lb 8oz = 104 oz
State Record for ME is 11 lb 10 oz for a total of 186 oz
104/186 = 55.91
Hopefully I will be able to upgrade soon
Not bad at all, Mainebass. It's going to take some work to beat these guys with the 75 percent plus fish.
Anytime you dip into the 50th percentile with a largemouth, your doing good. The smallmouth deal on Erie is outrageous, and there are guys (like Dwight) dialed into those 70th percentile fish. Truth be told, I think Dwight is gunning for the 110th percentile.
Those smallies are ginormous. I have no chance at beating those huge smallies. They just don't grow that large out here that often. Lake Erie is an amazing lunker smallmouth producer. I wish I lived closer. I'm going to try and contend with largemouth.
After careful consideration, I have decided that Dwight has been disqualified due to unsportsmanlike behavior. (see rule 6) Research showed that he once made $12 in a professional tournament and therefore his amateur status is revoked.
Im pretty sure BOTH Dwight and A-Jay won money from me already this year. Send em both packing!!!!On 4/27/2013 at 2:58 AM, FishinDaddy said:After careful consideration, I have decided that Dwight has been disqualified due to unsportsmanlike behavior. Jeff
4.5 Smallmouth out of Lake Erie in Conneaut, Ohio on Sat., April 27th. Not much compared to everyone else but it's my best in years.
OH Record SM: 9, 8oz. (9.5)
72oz. / 152oz. X 100 = 47.37
Caught on a charter trip; only caught two smallies over two very tough days.
Nice one, Phish.
Nice slob!
Got into one today, finally.
7.09 on the digi = 113.44oz
PA record is 11-3 = 179oz
113.44 / 179 = .6337
63% of state record largie
Wow Speedbead...that thing is crazy fat!
Nice work Wayne!!!!
Very nice fish, Speedbead!
Posted in the Outing section but forgot to post here with the math.
This fish was 7.47 or 119.52 oz
State record for PA is 179oz
119.52 / 179 = 66.77% of the state record for PA. Gettin' there
d**n fine fish, Speed.
WOW
I know it doesn't count, just wanted to share... My friend caught a 5.57 here in NH, record is like 10 pound 8 oz
Only 5 fishing days left ~
Who's planning to catch that Hawg of a Bass that would help them pull off the last minute victory ?
I'll be out there trying to make it happen.
Anyone else ?
A-Jay
I hope I can make it happen!
Jeff
Speedbead is in the lead right...
I entered this the last two years and just forgot to get in this year, which it figures is the year I catch my PB smallmouth bass. ( 7lb. SM / 8.5lb. SM PA State Record = 0.8235). Oh well, I'll just have to catch a bigger one next year ;-)
Nice catches for all those who did enter!
So, PA sweep?
On 6/22/2013 at 11:28 AM, SPEEDBEAD. said:So, PA sweep?
i was the only one to post a spot.
Wish this could have been made a sticky or had more people participate.
I thought previous iterations of this had more participants?
I missed it this year- smaller fish than last year for me but a couple could have gone up to at least make it fun.
An Idea for the next state vs state deal ~
We might want to consider a winner from each state - that way members are competing with members who are all fishing against the same state record weight.

To me, that is the beauty of the state record percentage format.
Granted Massachusettes, Georgia, and Virginia (maybe others) have it really tough in the format but if the goal is to catch the biggest fish in the waters near you IMO there is no better way to do it.
Whoever won (Speedbead ? ), please send me your shipping address and what you want for Rage Tails, oh, and Congrats!
If I am reading this correctly the winners are

You are too kind, A-Jay. I guess if we had more people involved we could do that but I do like the idea of all of us competing against one another, state vs state. Some states may have a better chance than others, but the percentage format evens it out as much as it can be.

The formula I came up with evens it out, for the most part. I like it the way it is. The only way to get a lot of participation is to group us all together. Plus I think it's a lot of fun to see other State's records being contested closely, (or not), and seeing other species being caught.
Well my biggest fish was ~30%. I was embarrassed to post it up!!!!

I had two fish over 6 lbs. A measly 33% would have been the best I would have scored. But I like playing anyway.
Count me in for next time. I have a secret pond with a 7 in it. just gotta get her on an artificial. Got her 3 years ago on a live bluegill and she went 5-14.
i was borderline on posting mine after seeing 70% fish being posted. wish i could have upgraded with something like this 52%(4lb 10oz) i caught in February.
I will say this, i did have my 6.7 largemouth = 103 ounces and the state record is 8:15=143 oz. So 103/143= 72.02% & for the 6.13 = 109/143= 76.22% and posted it in the fishing reports section on June 4th. I did sign up for this thread. But...i guess i forgot to post it on this topic! Besides, Speedy's plethora of 7 pounders should still take the cake. These are always fun threads.
Hey Shane better send some Rage Tails to shimmy too.
Dwight, sent you a PM.
Let me know.

Virginia state record largemouth is more like 16 pounds? Or did you move and not update your profile.
