I entered. If I win I want the second reel to go to the second place winner. If that's ok.
From being a ex auto mechanic I'm amberdexterious from working under dashboards. Right left doesn't matter I can adapt.
Always guess low but gave it a try.

I'd love to enter these "Guess the Weight" contests, but DC is not on the drop down list for states. It would be great if you guys could add it to the list.
Just entered Wahoo
I try to remember to enter everyday but Im not good at guessing weights, hope I get lucky

ditto. No point in having two of the same reel. I much rather give it to somebody else lol
Definitely 6-8lb. That' the range you guys should be guessin'!
That's a 6lber in my hand she's turned sideways you can't see her belly. Plus my big size makes it look small.
Winners announced?

Was wondering also.. Even though I probably didn't win. .
Didn't read the contest page, did ya? It tells you when the winner will be announced.

Not an ex auto mechanic, but I agree. Don't need 2 reels, give the runner up the second one if I when.
Wow! Ok guys. I guess you don't want to win $200. You'd rather win $100.
Noted. I will never run another contest worth more than $100.
I'll take two free reels any day! Never heard of a bass fisherman needing less gear before! Haha!

Lol someone done goofed
perhaps one $200 reel instead of 2 $100 reels? I'm not complaining, i'd take two reels any day. but if people are gonna complain, that's the way to go.
I'll always take 2 of everything, since my wife fishes with me I have to buy 2 of everything anyway.
Amazed that I actually guessed the right weight, but someone else did to...

Im a horrible guesser,But would love to win two.
Well, contest is over guys. Last time two reels will ever be given away here.
I didn't mean to offend you, if I did, Glenn. I just wanted to spread the wealth if it was my option.
Don't feel like that Glenn I just want to share. I feel bad taking two reels. If I won.
You can always win both reels then give them to someone you know that needs one if you don't need both. Or you can always not enter and let someone who does want them win them.

Is raising it to three or more an option?

You have great Giveaways,Dont give up yet
I feel ashamed to take both reels.
Giveaway two prizes one to the winner and one to the last place entry.
3.11 lbs isn't 3 lbs 11 oz unless the scale is set to lbs & ounces. 3.11 = 3 lbs 2 oz.
3 lbs 11 oz = 3.60 lbs
Not complaining, just need clarification.
Tom
i wouldn't take their statements the wrong way Glenn.... they came off as rather humble offerings to me, rather than a complaint of any nature....

tom, pretty sure that scale reads in lbs/ounces... i thought the same thing at first.

Yes........We get it.
Looks like a Berkley Lip Grip scale that reads in digital pounds or KG, not lbs/oz, could be wrong, haven't seen a digital fish scale that reads in lbs/oz.On 9/23/2015 at 4:03 AM, buzzed bait said:tom, pretty sure that scale reads in lbs/ounces... i thought the same thing at first.

I was all over the high 3's. Under 4lbs. I lost its ok. I think I was at 3/12, I knew it was under 4lbs.
Thanks for the chance it was fun

Tom
mine does. it has both the lbs oz option and the decimal option. you just have to click the button an extra time to get to the lbs oz setting
yeah i have a slightly different Berkley digital scale, but i just double checked and mine reads in lbs/oz as well
Does it display 3.11 as 3 lbs 11 oz? Or does it display 3 lbs 11 oz?On 9/23/2015 at 9:40 AM, flyfisher said:mine does. it has both the lbs oz option and the decimal option. you just have to click the button an extra time to get to the lbs oz setting
Thank you for the response. This isn't isn't sour grapes, just like clarification.
Tom
mine has the lbs and oz markers showing when on that setting. The other just has the decimal. this is the scale i have.not a grip style but digital nonetheless
Thank you, if the display shows 3.11 I assume it's lbs in decimal, if the display doesn't display a decimal point and displays lbs/oz above the display it's in lbs/ oz.On 9/23/2015 at 9:45 AM, flyfisher said:mine has the lbs and oz markers showing when on that setting. Tom
yeah mine displays it as Xlb Xoz
the decimal on glenn's scale is what threw me off as well, but from the online pics i see of that scale, it looks like it displays the decimal even when reading lb/oz
like you, not sour grapes, but i see people get that wrong A LOT. as in saying their fish was 5.2 lbs vs 5lb 2oz or vice versa
^^ This ^^
It displays pounds and ounces, despite the decimal.
I can never understand why anybody would complain about getting something for free. Perfectly shows the entitlement mentality of society today.
I would of loved to have won both reels. . I would of gave my kids my current baitcasters and took those..
Well you never can have too much fishing stuff,Ask my wife that battle has been going on for 20 years.

I think Buzzed was correct earlier. I didn't read any posts complaining about anything. I think there was a genuine generosity suggesting 'if I win, please share my good fortune'.
However, even had there been a complaint as you describe, I can't think of a context that would bolster your opinion on society.
Never understood why consumer scales for use in the US would even use decimals as an option. Ounces is standard unit of measurement here...messed up as that may be....and x.yy pounds is a certain recipe for confusion in nearly any context.

Always accept a gift with grace. To do otherwise deprives the giver of the joy of giving.

I would play this guessing game for no reward it's fun.
Thanks Glenn for the chance to play.

Bigbills quote, take a kid fishing. Pass on this awesome sport to the future generations.
Fishing when I was a kid kept me out of trouble.
I don't know what planet you live on but pounds and ounces have never been the only standard of measure, weight in decimals or the decimal system is a standard the USA, every try to do math in fractions or ounces? We are not discussing the metric system! On 9/25/2015 at 12:49 AM, Choporoz said:Never understood why consumer scales for use in the US would even use decimals as an option. Glenn's scale clearly had 3.11 on the display....it is what it is and he clarified his decision and It's his to make!
Tom
Alright guys, let's not make this a neg-fest. I understand if somebody wants to share their prize (if they had won), or a question regarding the legitamacy of the scale. But, both of those questions have been answered (more than once) let's not ruin a good thing, and move on. Peace out.
My question was and is academic; a scale display in pounds followed by a decimal point reads in tenth's and hundredth's of a pound, not in ounces. Glenn stated his scale reads in ounces followed by a decimal point.
I have never witnessed such a scale, it's not any known weight or measure system, however satisfied with the clarification.
End of story.

I agree that Bill's point has been made, but I don't think Glenn's point has been fully fleshed out. So, though he may wish I would shut up, in defense of Glenn . . . .
If an individual wants to give a reel away, and he accepts it and then gives it away, he has actually shared something that belonged to him. The time and expense of shipping to someone else is on him and is truly charitable. Asking BR to change the process they have in place in order to ship the reels to two different people requires nothing of him. That is just the forgoing of receiving a reward, and it creates extra work for the original giver while nothing was required of the person forgoing the reward. He just refused to accept the second reel and nothing more.
I think Bill's consideration for others is commendable. I just don't think the idea above occurred to him. I'm not trying to be negative, but I just want to show that this can be looked at in different ways with good intent on both sides.

I admit, I didn't think of this when I made my post. I honestly just wanted to share if I had won.
I enjoy the guessing game and will play everytime I remember to log in, whether there is a great prize or not. I appreciate all that Glenn, the other moderators and all the great members put into and contribute to this site. Keep up the good work.
Ill go away now.
